I'm prepping for GRE first week in March.
BA Philosophy with CGPA of 4.38 and 4.23 in my Masters. I'm applying for a PhD in Philosophy too..
Currently I'm practicing with the baron Gmat and some GRE apps I downloaded from the app store but the maths no be here.
Please what books or apps can I use especially those that explain the basics becos sometimes I get the answer correctly by guessing but I need explanation.

In my opinion, both are on the same level. I have written both. TOEFL is more demanding time-wise because it has more questions per section.

Careful with IELTS. Some USA schools are rejecting it (albeit you can find it in their criteria). I think there is a covert war going on between British exams and American exams.

The second verbal was even more difficult than the first. I did the RC pretty well and am sure I have seen similar passages during my prep. I finished right on time and was like this verbal get as in be ooo. Next was the final section which I was sure was second Quant. And I was right because it was noticeable harder than the previous 2 Quant. I did it to the best of my ability and got to the last question with few minutes left. Reviewed the few I could and watched as the timer counted down.
I sat back in my chair and reported my score. I closed my eyes and when I opened it my result was on the screen Verbal 165, Quant 165. I had to stop myself from screaming in delight as other test takers were still working. I sent scores to 4 schools and left the hall with a wide grin planted on my face.

What a performance! U really dealt with GRE....congratulations bro, wishing u all d best in your school applications. Please make good use of this stellar score......it wouldn't be a bad idea to hear u talk about ur experience in MIT, Stanford, UCBerkley n d likes by this time next year

Thank you very much man and AMEN. It was exactly 2 months on the 5th of January and when I called ETS they didn't appear any closer to resolving the issue. I volunteered to rewrite and the representative I spoke to offered an explanatory mail I could forward to my prospective schools in lieu. Almost like as if he was discouraging me from rewriting. I don't know what to make of it. I am just hoping and praying I get some feedback before the week runs out.

To anyone who sent me PMs..the reality is I don't even know the email I used to register this account. I know it sounds disingenuous but it is true. I can be of help any way else. Cheers.

^The toefl result issue is taking toooo long. Saturday will be 2 weeks into a new month.

Abeg, they should give you a voucher to rewrite.

Yes! They are genuine. A lot of people her registered their GRE & TOEFL through B Y Mafit.....I also did register for my TOEFL with them which was scheduled for 7 Jan, and it was pretty straightforward without any hitch....though I am yet to get my scores

I'd also advise you use them for your registration cos you're gonna save a lot by doing so.

Hi. Lemme answer the one I couod
1. Apply when you have prepared well. When your simulation tests shows u r ready for the test. Also that's the best time to write is some weeks after you are sure you have prepared well. Lemme give u a scenario. After studying for 2 months, powerprep shows you score of 305, in my opinion u r not ready, study more, when you have >315, register for the exam. Note that this depends on when you r targeting for admission. If it's fall 2018,you have to start preparation soonest.

2. Go for Computer based. You will have your unofficial results immediately and you don't have to kill yourself with unnecessary tension. If you wanna faint, u faint immediately in test hall... Lol

3. Schools depends on your gre score. So, ask that after your gre score. Make sure u register for school finder. It will make more sense.

In as much as I have been visiting this site for sometimes so as to obtain the necessary hints, information and materials for the GRE, i've been more or less a taciturn in the thread.
without further ado, i say a gigantic thank you and kudos to all those that have contributed in one way or the other towards the afformentioned cause. My question here is, Must one write the TOEFL exam as well as GRE for securing admission in any of these US schools (UC Berkely, UMichigan, USC and LSU)?
secondly, I plan writing the GRE exam in june/july albeit i'll still be in my 500L (OAU). in lieu of this, how does one go about taking the exam and reporting the score as an awaiting B.Sc graduate? The aim is to put in for 2018 fall semester. what is the best approach and chances for an awaiting candidate? I hope this idea of mine is feasible!
