The rail route is different from the popular Lagos-Ibadan expressway axis. A boost to investment in my area.

Now, let's watch as the fat-cats defalcate 2/3 of the fund and construct a low-quality rail line.

An error on my part in posting Road or rail does not negate the point I have raised?

Even the rail has been budgeted for in the past times without number with nothing to show for it!
Sorry bro
Most projects budgeted mmay not be executed because there may be no money to fund the budget. There is different thing to budget fot something there is another thing to not get money to fund it.

BROS ITS A PPP arrangement so no question of money not well spent, the problem with PPP is when government fails to fulfill its obligation of the contract. It is a straight forward approach and developed world adopt this methods for major infrastructural development.

Meanwhile they are still searching for money for projects in the east though they insisted that most should be PPP.. , essentially, whosoever dares to build in the east will go and recover his or her money by tolling the roads. It is still one Nigeria, right?
I expected this.. Is this cheap Wailing or the usual disappointment that comes with every good deeds of this administration?

This is a counterpart fund. The body implementing the project will see to its implementation. They have no power over the project. Its just like a PPP arrangement.

So there has never been money available since 1960? This is the sort of stance and buck passing that has ensured that our leaders have always gotten away with under performance in the past!

Nigeria's problem has never been funding rather it has been that of political will!

How many things have been budgeted, approved and disbursed for in this country since 1960 that have become white elephant projects or that have had their funds mismanaged in the past? There are too many reasons littering history that point to why we must always be suspicious of some certain caliber of projects!

They are constructing a new one to run side-by-side with the old one to make it two not the renovation of the old one that previous administrations has been doing.

They already said it two weeks ago and I read it.

If we follow the news coming out of this administration, we find out that it is very consistent. They say something this week and they next time they say something about it, you find out that it is consistent with the previous one they said especially when it has to do with projects. That is one attribute of someone telling the truth but I found out that people are so blinded by the hatred they have for them that they forget to add up the information.

What has 1960 got to do with my question in my 1st post?......they have been systematically ripping of the nation with such schemes for decades! Read the screen shot and the adjoining article! I told you that the lagos Ibadan rail has been one of their cash cows in addition to the rail projects in other parts of the country!

The money was released to thUe Chinese who will then add their own counterpart funds to it once the National assembly approves the loan request. The money cannot be accessed by any government officials so, no embezzlement can take place.
You seem to forget the chinease are worse than Nigerians when it comes to corruption .
They have the ability to gang up with government officials .

Boyoorisha:
The Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, on Monday stated that the Federal Government had released N72bn as its counterpart funds for the construction of the Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge railway line.

The minister said this at the Second Presidential Business Forum, which was presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He said the money was released in full so that there would be no delay in the implementation of the project.

Amaechi also used the opportunity to appeal to the National Assembly to approve the $29.9bn foreign loan request made by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said, “On the construction of Lagos-Ibadan railway line, the Minister of Finance has been kind enough to release the counterpart funding in full. I think in the history of Nigeria, this is the first time that we are releasing counterpart funds in full so that there will be no delay since the Chinese loan appears to have been approved.

“The only thing we need to do, I thank God there is somebody from the National Assembly here, is to plead with the National Assembly now that the funds have been approved; then, the National Assembly should please approve the $29.9bn loan.

“If you don’t encourage the National Assembly to make that approval, then, the economy won’t be making the kind of progress we want it to make. So, for me here, I will persuade the National Assembly to kindly make that approval because it is tied to projects.”
