I was just fuming that lunch is late because the caterer is nowhere to be found. My colleague walks up to me and says: "Hi ***, check this page on NL and don't stop until you get to the end". And here I was laughing uncontrollably. The convo just cracked me up. Thanks op for sharing.

To be honest, the black guy took it too personally. This was not a racial thing. Back in my secondary school days in Nigeria (boys secondary school), you would often have friends form cliques and cliques preferred to sit together or do things together in common. Scenarios like this happened a lot when cliques would want to all sit together and 'chance' everybody else in their way. Sometimes I would be in the class reading and a group of boys would prefer to hang around at exactly where I am sitting. 1 (me) vs as many as 10 boys. Not worth it. I'd simply move away and find another location.

The black student was somewhat over sensitive. A white student, in his position, or even an Asian would just get up and sit elsewhere.

However, he didn't have to leave his seat if he did not want to, especially if the class was full and there were no other seats available.

Nobody told him to stand. They only asked if he could leave the seat. Since there were other seats, (which your 'hero' subconsciously indicated by asking if they wanted to move another seat close) I don't see anything degrading in asking 'hey, we're a group of friends, and we want to do something together, could you please stay somewhere else?' And if you like the view there say a simple 'no, I like the view here' and not make it a case of racism. Or make a scene, acting like crybaby. Or, start calling them stereotypical white names. Because if it was the other way round nobody would hear the end of it. You know black people have more negative stereotypes than whites

Its the typical black man mentality. 'Rake' behind the scenes as you see E-Warriors do here on Nairaland but no action.
