As long as black people continue looking at that history, they remain slaves with inferiority forever. It's a very dark and shameful history for not only blacks but for humanity. No one should be reminded about it . It's too disgraceful.

It's a very big disgrace to have such history in one's mind . the history should be destroyed . blacks will never recover from knowing that history. you 'll always feel inferior to whites and be dependent.
I understand but honestly speaking we need these histories for future purpose.I've been to that place before(though it wasn't pleasant)but I learnt a lot.

You forgot the internal slavery by our Fulani rulers who own Nigeria and can kill anyone with no repercussion.

The slave trade also exposes the fact That black people are not united .
everywhere you go in this world, you are already judged as inferior and son of a slave .

The Jews/Israelites have museums to remind themselves of the holocaust massacre of millions in Germany and other European countries.
That has not made the Jews feel inferior to anyone.
If we don't recall our history, how do we prevent making the same mistakes in the future.

And some 1 is really proud of this.... Some blacks will never see the light. Won't blame the whites tho cos the yorubas I guess has empires where kings and Queens existed even other Africa countries yet they were carted away by white people. Blacks sold blacks to the whites period.....

And the white keep putting all these pictures up to still remind some fools not me that they still remain slaves, that's why some idiots are taking pics with the art and really proud of it... Ask yourself why they hid the empires built by blacks before some of our ancestors became greedy and idiots... Spits on this thread

Black people have suffered sha.
But we should just let bygone be bygone.

Today, some West Africans are still drowning in the mediterranean in their bid to get to Europe.
When shall we become useful to ourselves as Africans??

It is a sad chapter of history, but the reality remains reality.
The evil behind those relics should not be a factor hindering it from display.
And it doesn't make us slaves with inferiority forever as you say - far from it. It makes us a stronger people. A people who like metal passed through the flames and came out stronger.

You need to know your history whether good or bad. When you know your history you can for example challenge the lies told you by Europeans that we Africans sold our brothers and sisters. See the true history of slavery and slave acquisition in Africa http://www.africason.com/2016/03/the-true-history-of-slavery-and-slave.html

When you know your history, you'll know the whole truth, you'll understand why you're in your present condition, how to avoid mistakes of the past, and what you need to do. If you know your history, you'll understand white people are not a superior race to blacks, but that something went wrong between 1400-1800 century.

What your clock does for you is that it will divide your time, give you an inkling of where you've been at what time, and what you still have to do for the rest of the day and the time to do them.

The clock is a miniature history keeper.

History is like a clock that people use to tell their historical, political and cultural time of the day. It is also a compass that people use to find themselves on the map of human geography. History tells a people where they have been and what they have been, where they are and what they are. Most important, history tells a people what they still must be and where they must go. The relationship of a people to their history is the same as the relationship of a child to the mother.

No people can be full, no people can be whole, no personality can be complete without a knowledge of his or her own history.

The beauty of history is that once you know your history, you'll know what you'll have to do for yourself and as a people, your knowledge eliminates your excuses for not re-building your own house irrespective of the poor condition you met it. Your knowledge of what you did before you was conquered eliminate your excuses for not trying to rebuild yourself.

Your lack of knowledge of history and the chronology of history robs you of the knowledge of knowing that the European was the last branch of the human race to get into the arena of human civilization. A bunch of juvenile delinquents coming out of the third ice age in Europe, taking over the world, killing babies in the bath. And you are bowing to them thinking you are bowing to a man because he's dressed like one. Over half of human history was over and Europeans were not even in this world!! . The word "white people" was invented in the 15th and 16th century because there were no white man on the earth for millions of years.................. Dr. John H. Clarke.

European civilization is about 500 years old, whereas Africans has been on this earth for at least 10 Million years!.

What we need as Africans is go and study history so that we can correct our mistakes, then go back and rule the world, because that's what we were originally meant to do.

If you are feeling sober, that's exactly how you are supposed to feel. History has already done its work and you don't even realize it!!.

In your sobriety you'll avoid mistakes your ancestors made that lead to slavery. How can we correct mistakes of the past, if we don't know what happened to us in the past?

For each king there were hundreds if not thousands of slaves.
The slaves built the edifices in your images that we rely on oyinbos with their superior knowledge and technology to discover and document.
We are busy eating, feasting and fcvking our brains away.

The Badagry Slavery and Heritage museum and the Badagry Slave trade ports are located in the Badagry local Government area of Lagos State, Southwestern Nigeria.
They are one of the last remaining testimonies to the brutality of Transatlantic Slavery on the West Coast of Africa.
The Badagry slave ports are located in the Bight of Benin region in the West African Gulf of Guinea. It is estimated that about 2.6 Million slaves were deported from the Bight of Benin ports to the Americas (Other sources cite up to 3 Million). A lot of these slaves were Yoruba, who are estimated to have made between 900,000 and 1.7 Million of them. The Badagry port was one of the ports where they came from, alongside others in Whydah/Ouidah (The biggest), Epe, Popo, Lagos, Porto Novo and Jacquin/Jakin (Now Godomey).
Today Yoruba culture thrives on in the Americas, and is a testament to the resilience of the slaves who have managed to preserve their cultural essence in foreign lands.

@bold I find your estimate of 900,000 to 1.7m to be exagerrated and ridiculous. As analyzed in the thread below, Yoruba land had a kingdom, Oyo kingdom, and by virtue of the protection afforded thereof, did not participate in slavery until the fall of the Oyo kingdom and its wars with Dahomey towards the late 18th century and early 19th century. Yoruba slaves were the last of tribes to emerge in slavery when slavery was coming to and end and in the last 40 years of slavery, this is when Yoruba slaves dominated, the slaves being mostly war captives captured and sold into slavery by Dahomey women warriors. Slavery is said to have started from around 1470 to 1860, with Yoruba slaves featuring in small numbers from 1750 to 1800, and in great numbers from 1820 to 1860.

In 1823 Dahomey was reported to have raided villages that were under the protection of Oyo for slaves due to the high demand for them. Oyo immediately demanded a huge tribute from King Gezo for the unauthorized incursion, to which Gezo dispatched his Brazilian agent, Francisco FĂ©lix de Sousa, to the Alaafin at Oyo to make peace. The peace talks eventually broke down and Oyo attacked Dahomey.[49] The Oyo army was decisively defeated, ending Oyo's hegemony over Dahomey.[50] After gaining its independence, Dahomey began raiding the corridor

The figures attached below show the estimates taken from Yoruba land, and the realistic number is estimated at 437,700, which is very plausible given the fact that we only have 40 years of Yoruba active participation in slavery, 900,000 slaves exported in 40 years is an exaggeration, 1.7 million is ridiculous. It takes many decades or a century to export millions of slaves and still have the native population sustained. Also, one needs to ask, what was the population of the Yorubas between 1750, when Yoruba slaves started getting sold, to 1860, the end of slavery, to have supported up to 1.7 million exports? The images below show the estimated population of Yoruba land every 10 years and estimated numbers taken every 10 years.

As of 1860 or the last decade of slavery, the estimated Yoruba population was just hitting 1.8 million people. How could a population of 1.8m people have sold 1.7m people? Just thinking.

Realistically, summing up the numbers gotten from the images below, the estimated overall number of exports from Yoruba land is 437,700.

Re: Pictures From The Badagry Slave Port And Slavery relics / Heritage Museum. by bigfrancis21: 11:34pm On Jan 26, 2017
As we can see in the images attached, Badagry and Epe ports did not start exports until much later in 1726, whereas Lagos port did not start until much later in 1751, whereas Bight of Biafra, for example, slave exports had begun from as early as 1470s.

From the second image attached below, the Aja peoples of Benin overwhelmingly dominated the Bight of Benin slave exports, reaching as high as 97% of all exports in the 1680s and 1690s up until 1810 when they were at par with Yoruba slaves at 36% and by 1820 Yoruba slaves dominated the slave market until 1860 reaching an all time high of 85%, coinciding with the Oyo-Dahomey wars. In 1710, the ratio of Yoruba slave exports fell to as little as 2%.
