zendy:The constitution and political system the Brit's operate are different from ours. Our constitution is modelled after the American model which is rigid, while the Brits operate a parliamentary style (go and research into the fundamental differences between the two). There us no place in our constitution for a referendum and any President who dares call for one without an amendment to that effect, commits high treason. So guy forget this your Biafran delusion. It will never come to fruition by a referendum |

kropotkin2:You missed the point. If the very people who are responsible for making you a 'Nigerian' can use referendum in these modern times, then who are you they created to say you cant use referendum? You are not as rich as them, you are not as advanced as them and you not as wise as them, plus, they created you. But in your own mind, they are stupid to use referendum to peacefuly solve internal issues while you as a Nigerian is wise to use war to kill millions of your fellow country man. You see why Africans are backward? |

T9ksy:No way. Igbos have never been strong advocates of one united Nigeria. It is on record that Igbos fought Lugard in the Ekumeku and Arochukwu wars so as not to be included in Nigeria. Towards independence, Zik was an advocate of one united Nigeria. However, Zik is just one Igbo man. The opinion of one man can never be equated to mean the opinion of a people. It should be noted that today, Zik in death is no where as respected in Igbo land as freedom fighters such as Ojukwu. This talk about Igbos wanting to dominate Nigerians is funny. We now know that Nzeogwu and co had no interest in taking power for themselves. We also know that Ironsi became head of state by virtue of the fact that he was the highest Ranking Soldier of his time and not because he was Igbo. Besides, if Igbos are this sneaky sort of people, why are Nigerians fighting civil wars to be with Igbos? Ijaws did not want to secede. Adaka Boro and 15 armed men cannot be said to represent the entire Ijaw nation and he had no mandate to declare anything. The same Adaka Boro who later fought for 'one Nigeria'? Even Ojukwu sought and recieved mandate to secede. |

zendy:I now see why its impossible to reason with you. You IPOBS reject the legitimacy of the Nigerian state so that leaves us in more or less of a quandary. If you reject the legitimacy of the Nigerian state (which by the way is recognized by every single nation state on earth), then you will have no other choice than to come into a confrontation with her. The events of Last Friday sheds more light on this |

Mujtahida:We are not gutless, far from it. We are the only ones who have fought a war of independence to free our selves from the colonial creation called Nigeria and held strong for 3 years. No other people in Nigeria can ever have that sort of guts. |
| Re: Greed And The Igbo Man: The Prospect Of Life In An Independent Biafra by zendy: 11:52pm On Jan 26, 2017 |
kropotkin2:Guy, Nigeria is not legitimate. Just because a British opportunist called Lugard came in 1914 to force everyone together at gun point does not make Nigeria legitimate. If you want Nigeria to be legitimate, support a referendum let the indigenous ethnic groups Lord Lugard came to West Africa to force together, the option of opting in or out. If you say no, then dont expect peace or happiness by supporting the holding of people against their will. Nigeria doesnt have as much legitimacy as Czechoslovakia, USSR and Yugoslavia who all broke up into smaller countries in the 1990's |

zendy:Your statements are contradictory. You claim Nigeria was set up by the British through Lord Lugard's efforts, and it is therefore 'illegitimate.' Not so? What do you call a person or an entity that carries out an illegitimate action? In another breath, you claim the British who created Nigeria have used the referendum successfully on various occasions to resolve their internal issues, and so Nigeria should adopt the action of the British. Why should a country that you call illegitimate, adopt the action of another nation who created such an ''illegitimate contraption? ![]() |

zendy:How can Nigeria be illegitimate? Every single Nation on earth recognizes her legitimacy. If Nigeria were not legitimate then it follows that every nation state created by colonial powers are also illegitimate, that will place half the nation states on the planet in this category. If Nigeria be illegitimate, how can an illegitimate entity legitimately organize a referendum for you to form a 'legitimate' Biafra? |
| Re: Greed And The Igbo Man: The Prospect Of Life In An Independent Biafra by zendy: 3:46pm On Jan 27, 2017 |
kropotkin2:It is not the legitimacy of Nigeria other countries recignise. What they recognise it Nigerias sovereignty. Sovereignty in this context is the right of Nigeria to be self governing. If Nigeria disintegrates, the international community will still recognise all the countries that emerge from it. Czechoslavakia was once recognised by the international community. When it disintegrated in 1992 into Czech Republic and the Republic of Slovakia, all countries in the world recognised both countries and life went on. Every nation in the world created by colonialist is illegitimate unless the indigenous tribes tacitly agreed to carry on being together. Using Ghana as an example, the British forced several indigenous tribes together (just like they did in Nigeria) to create Ghana. The Ewe's, Ashante's, Fante's, Gans etc. The difference with Ghana and Nigeria is that Ghana has no tribe agitating for independence, Ghana has never had to fight a civil war and kill millions of it countrymen in other to maintain its unity. The indigenous tribes tacitly accepted Ghana It is not so in Nigeria. Nigeria is illegitimate because the various ethnic groups have never accepted it to this day day like Ghanains have. So, it is only logical that a referendum be conducted by the Government. Those who vote to go can go while the ones who choose to carry on will become the 'legitimate Nigerians' |

Laird:Stop talking trash! No one stops you from becoming a citizen of Arewa-Oduanistan and living happily ever After with your Yoruba and Hausa friends when Biafra is actualized. Not all Jews are in Israel, many are scattered all over the world, even in Germany, doing business and great exploits, many financial institutions in USA are ran by the the Jews, so what? There are no reason for independent Jewish Israel state? The Jews that sought for an independent nation of Israel are stupid? Must Igboland be fused with your Arewa-Oduanistan for you to succeed in your business venture? How about Igbos in China, Togo, Ghana, Cameroon, USA, South Africa, etc, are they not doing well those places, interacting with the indigenous people there freely, without needing Ndiigbo to be fused in a demonic union with those people? If the only way you can succeed in your business venture is by Igboland being joined in a demonic union with a people we share no unified or similar political, religious, traditional ideologies with, then you are not cut out for business and that your business has no longevity/ future, because whether you like it or not, you only have One vote, and it's the Igbo grassroots back home that would chart the political course of Igboland sooner or later, cos power will eventually return to the people, and right now, self determination is the music playing all over Igboland. When the time is right, only Igbo elites who dance to that music will have power, the rest will sink with the Nigerian failed ship. |

citizenY:There is no 'SE' recognised in the constitution so using it here serves no purpose. The UK is the combination of Kingdoms Scotland, Wales and England. These three kingdoms came together in 1707 and signed a law called "The Act Of Union" where they agreed to be together. That is why Scotland had to go through parliament when they agitated for independence. In the case of Nigeria, the Igbo/Hausa/Yoruba man never came together and agreed to be a nation. We were 'herded' together like cattle by Lugard and the British and that is why Nigeria is illegitimate. Nigeria remains the illegal colonial creation concocted by the British and is still holding several ethnic groups against their will So the referendum on Nigeria is not just about the independence of any ethnic nation, it also about correcting the illegitimacy of Nigeria by giving those who have long agitated to leave the union the chance Lord Lugard never gave them. The chance to decide if they want to be Nigerians or not. |

However, people like the op, who pretend to be a friend of the Igbos whilst insulting us in the same breath really are despicable. Laird:I live abroad and this is honestly a characteristic that I've seen from numerous Nigerian tribes, not just the Igbos. I think what this shows is that, if given equal opportunity, most Nigerians will fall short of having a moral compass. There is certainly a correlation between the behaviour of the Igbos and the state of our homeland. It has purposely been underdeveloped, which has led to this 'dog eat dog' mentality. This behaviour is actually one that is, rightly, attributed to Nigerians as a whole and it shouldn't come as a surprise that the reason for this is exactly the same as the one stated above. You mix poverty with an insatiable desire to succeed in life and this is what happens. Get rid of the poverty and show the people that there are plenty of opportunities to legally support yourself and your family and they would grab those opportunities with both hands. |
