Which silence? Address the nation because some misguided elements are spreading rumours on social media? Pls apart from social media, can u name any NATIONAL or GLOBAL news media (print or electronic) that carries the report? Both the Presidency and NASS have dissociated themselves from this mischief and now NLC, so u can choose what to believe but for now, the president is on 10-day leave. He may address the nation ONLY IF HE CHOOSES TO.

Naija my country, people have just turned political analysts and critics overnight because of unsubstantiated rumour. Side effect of idleness.
Baba has consistently handed over to his vice when the need arises. This time around he stated in very clear terms that during his vacation he would do medical checks. All this death rumour is simply because our president honestly told us that he would do check up and someone just woke up one day and said "hey folks, lets give nigerians something to talk about". "lets start by saying that the president is very sick and on life support, social media would kill him for us".

Today you hear this, today you heaR that. Isn't it time we put a stop to all this petty rumor flying around?. This is among the reason why i support the social media bill. Lets know who and who is talking, not the usual faceless scumbag we see everyday who wouldn't mind to sell their mother's soul for traffic.

I wonder who will lead Nigeria out of this Egypt we are in. If it were during GEJ, by now everyone will ve insulted and abused the hell out of him and his family without any fear or remorse.
Issoraite, kwantinue

GEJ went on vacation several times. HOW MANY TIMES DID YOU PUBLISH HIS OBITUARY? WHY IS IT THAT EACH TIME PMB GOES ON VACATION, YOU GUYS WILL KILL HIM ON THE SOCIAL MEDIA?

He should address you because of a rumour. Is this the first time his oppositions have wished him dead?
This is not the first and certainly it won't be the last.
So if Buhari keeps addressing Nigerians because of every rumour, when will he have time for real issues like reviving the economy?

and is it too big to wait for his 10 day leave to expire before wanting him to address you? If he doesn't come after then, then we have a reason to make demands. Why are we so impatient?

he said he's going on 10 day vacation , you cannot force him to address you just to dispel rumours. In these age of social media, if he's to respond to every rumour, I wonder if he'll have time for any other thing.

Can you read at all? The man said the statement never came from NLC.

The next thing I expect from any learned person is to challenge the source of the news to come out with the source of the news.

Do not be fooled into part of Corrupted Cabal fighting to destabilize the Government.

And I can't understand how my individual comment pose compelling the president to give a speech against his will. My issue with this saga is why Buhari will be quiet despite all the seriousness of the news going around. If the presidency is trying to defend the claim by posting pictures, why cant they just ask him to address the nation to so as to stop the rumour and put all this agitation and its resultant effect to rest. President Buhari's action is saying one of these :-
1. He is seriously sick or dead as some have purported
2. He has great disregard for the feelings of the people and don't care what they think, even if the country is going up in flames, He still does what he wants to do.

With the rising poverty in the nation, fulani's herdsmen killing, fuel hick etc If this rumour comes out to be false, I can confidently conclude that we have a president who doesn't give a dam what we feel or go through.

Once Mr. President answers stuff like this, he will spend his remaining term on the defensive. What he needs to do is return, go to his office and resume work. Nigeria is the only country where you can make an unproven statement and insist that your victim disprove it. In a sane country, people would be asking the people making the assertion to prove it with documents and pictures.

We are just a country of lazy thinkers.

Are you that jobless that his address is so important to you. Do you really understand what going on leave/vacation is for?
Our president has gone to rest and you want him to come on air like a child to come and debunk a stupid rumour you are not supposed to take serious in the first place.
You are an example of what our youths have become.
Warning to you as a fellow Nairalander:
Do not let social media consume you cuz you might get to the point where you wouldn't be able to distinguish truth from lies.

So because of some silly fabricated story our President MB should cut his leave short and resume? What exactly do you think that will prove. If I know MB very well he doesnt get himself involved in frivolities. We are the ones giving ourselves headache for some strange reason I do not understand.

oh so you got personal opinions? How about respecting the right of others. I hold no brief for Mr President, but I won't allow myself to be carried away by the sensual and mindless media, who are just bent on destroying this nation. Bibi is on vacation, if he doesn't return as scheduled, I will ask for explanations, for now let's stop creating storms in a tea cup.
Bibi sef tried, if na me, once I'd told you I'm on vacation, even a pix you won't get, my boss know me well, vacation is vacation.
