Did you say as low as #500.
Then, #500 wasn't low.

Besides, there is no car worth #500 there.

My dad bought his Toyota crown 6naira in 198x I guess that's how much the government collected from him was given to him new but sold to him after using it for a couple of years.

Things were really cheap back then. Our house was bought for 450k in 1993 it's price is now a staggering 22-25million the country is really messed up

N3000 was a lot of money back then if he was earning N70 per month. In one year, he would've earned N840 !! That wasn't even up to a thousand naira. He would've worked like mad for four years without spending a kobo to get up to N3000 which is impossible even with promotion and salary increase.
Cars were for rich people back then. I believe lots of people would be going to work in their bicycles, motor bikes or leggedes benz.

Things weren't cheap then. A friend told me his dad bought a Peugeot 505 in 1984 for around N25000.

I disagree. Things weren't cheap back then. Your house that is worth about N25m today would be worth a lot more 25 years from now.
Would it be right for someone who knew it's value today to claim that things were so cheap in 2016-17 and that people were really enjoying?
How many people could afford N100 in 1993. I saw an old bus ticket (Ekenedilichukwu coach) from Enugu to Lagos for N40. Ticket was early 90s.

I still maintain things were cheap then and had quality not the Bullshit we have from China now. Back then the government was actually working for people. The government paid for my dad's travels allover the world, paid for developing his career.

Back then things were fairly OK because though we had corruption, oil wasn't our main stay, agriculture was booming and Britain still had great influence on us then. Am talking about Era when fuel was sold for 22/litre.

How many people had that privilege like your dad who was sponsored by the govt to travel and develop his career. How many people could afford VW beetles or even CD 175 motorcycles back then?

My uncle was paying N250 per month living in a three bedroom flat in Enugu in 1989.
How much was plane ticket from Ph to Lagos in 1994?
How much was a bag of cement back then?
St. Louis sugar was 25k in 1981. Ill search for the receipts in my archive as I like keeping such things and post them here.

With N7 you could buy a two kg worth of beef in 1982. I think things are much better today.
How many people could afford or have access to phones and I mean the old type with circular disc in front of it you'll stick your index finger to dial. You'd send a letter with lots of stamps and wait weeks to receive reply from parents to send you pocket money grin

I'm not sure even Seun's parents dreamt there would be a day like this when you'd type something and send it online within secs or mins... grin

There is nothing low about 500 naira then... You probably work as hard to earn 500 naira den just as hard you would work to earn 500, 000 naira now
