Ask the two girls a technical question now am sure they cant answer it, just ask them what is a server, or drivers in computing, they will just open mouth.
forget about that result, even the person that made the highest grade in mechanical engineering doesnt know what is an oil filter and what it does in automobile.
They just read and cram everything then go to exams to offload it.

RadicallyBlunt:
That canada guy saying its a cheap perfect score, he himself must be a cheap perfect fool. I don't know why Nigerians write themselves off in all aspect, in economics, we're worse, in political stability same. Now in spite of all the unfavourable condition in the country, someone in a federal uni(not private o) came out with such a beautiful grade and still faces condemnation. The perfect fool even went as far as comparing Nigerian educational condition to western educational system...isnt that the height of mumuness? Western world where conditions are favourable and a phD candidate gets his degree in just 3years. Infact an intelligent student who cant have it all in grades over there must be an unserious element.

The same way the best jamb candidate in year 2011 (a girl from ondo state) was criticised before the jamb registrar defended her result. The fact is that we have talents in this country and we even see them manifestiñg in diaspora. In spite of the harsh conditions nigerians are facing in d nation, talents still emerge

The only reasonable criticism for a girl like this is if she did not sex her way thru the lecturers or use a pamperable girlish attitude to win marks easily. But from what i see in d pic, only the later might be possible, the former isnt likely to have happened.
Private is harder than federal . . .

Bro, the students do not actually need to get 100/100. An average score of 75-85 in all the courses which includes both continuous assessment and exams is enough to get a perfect grade of 5.0 and this is so much an achievable feat.

Congrats to them. However it is not in the students best interest to give them a perfect score. The pressure will be on them to show that perfection in everything relating to thier line of study. Are they practically sound? Can they come out tops among others from any part of the world? It would have been better for them to just be First Class graduates instead of 5.0 graduates. With all eyes on them, I just pray they live up to the hype otherwise both the school and them will be called into question.

I strongly believe that they are first class students but the perfect score system is flawed, to get a perfect score in most university in Nigeria you have to get A in all your courses ( that is from first year to the last year). getting one B is already something less than 5 points, but apparently in unilag you can this is possible.
Nothing flawed about it...same applies all over the world....we have seen Nigerian students get perfect score in different parts of the world...we even got one recently in Japan.....

Someone enlighten me.
Is the grading system in Unilag different from other Federal Universities?
Here in FUNAAB, to graduate with a perfect score of 5.00, one Must get A in all courses offered through out your entire stay in the University. If the total courses offered is 60, you must get A in all 60 courses...This is tougher than passing through the needle's eyes considering those practical courses, General courses etc.
Or is Unilag different?

To get a first class in Nigeria, you need a 4.50 GPA.
On the other hand, in the Western world, a first class GPA starts from 4.0 to 4.3 depending on the country.
It is a tradeoff. 4.5/5 is 90%.
Meaning you have to get an A in 90% of your TNU?
Most people complaining are underachievers.

am not saying it is not possible, but the system used by unilag creates room for more 5 points than any school. For instance each year of your stay in school gets equal percentage to your CGPA ( so a four year program leaves each year with 25%). unilag runs something like 10% in first year, 20% in second year, 30% for third year and 40% for final year.
so you can actually mess up you first and second year and still get a firsty or two: one. I am just saying unless she got an A in all her courses in school, she shouldn't get a perfect score

Bro e no easy jare... that perfect score is IMPOSSIBLE in FUNAAB, owing to the fact that every single course offered no matter how small the unit is or how irrelevant it is to your field contributes to your CGPA.
I dont know why they all cant adopt a unified grading system

Theoretically very possible...but practically these feats should be impossible in Nigeria. Nigerians are geniuses no doubt but the government is not helping matters at all. The only thing holding home-based nigerian students and graduate from becoming the best inventors in the world is just the lack of practical knowledge.

The VC has said the most important thing. 'the quality of intakes' influences the end result. Once the admission system of a school is tilted more to favour merit, the academic performance of the students while in the school will reflect such.

By the way to get an A in Nigerian university is 70% and above and not perfect 100% like some claim on this thread.

Uniben runs the cgpa system, (I.e a 10,20,30,40percent scheme) so do some other big universities all over the world. Infact in canada(from what I found out) your penultimate and ultimate year results are the most important, while nobody really pays too much interest on your first year result

This is not true, the school runs a cumulative grade point average.

Why didn't you do La cram last pour to graduate with a 5.0 CGPA or first class degree?

The level of jealousy and hate on this thread is worrying. I agree that graduating with 5.0 perfect CGPA is extremely difficult but it is achievable. Some fôôl stated that the girls will goof if they are asked questions on their course of study, smh... I don't know about every universities but I am extremely sure that any graduate from Unilag, OAU, UI, FUTO, UNN and ABU that finished with at least 4.0 CGPA can easily graduate in the top 20% of any school in the world.

I know a lot of OAU aluminis that graduated with excellent grades from Universities in the US, Canada and Europe. People forget that Nigerians are mentally tough, competitive and we possess the "I can do all thing mentality" . The first 2 to 3 months might be challenging but smart Nigerian graduates usually adapt and become superstars in their class.
