Its unfortunate that when they come they meet the youths of the so called SW crowding all the betting centers and manning all the streets chasing yellow buses and tricycles upandan.
Why dont your land make your youths progress first before being good to strangers.
Your youngmen habe turned beer palours and betting shops are places to better their lots.

Igbos youths will always come to lagos and be succesful whether you like it or dont why your so called landowners wait for crumbs falling off the visitors table.

In SE every 3 hours about 12 new businesses are set up and new bank accounts opened, in SW every 3 hours more than a dozen betting shops are open in theirs

deji15:
Lagos is too congested anyway. It is good you are thinking home. Hopefully more people will follow suit. Unfortunately up until this morning, hundreds of buses are still dropping people all over south west and returning back to the east almost empty, to bring in more people the following day.
That is the truth except somebody wants to tell lies or deceive him or herself.

Mr man don't make this one sided, Igbo s also discriminate and exhibit sentiments towards other tribes in their region, I ain't justifying it though

Im not saying they dont but... yorubas are more discrimating. Only some1 who has not spent time in other tribes wont know.

Why would a yoruba man only want to rent his house to a yoruba person undecided.
I see it here a lot...u will see a house for rent with somethin BOLDLY written on d wall "YORUBAS ONLY".. so wat are u sayin. undecided
I hav not seen this in other tribes i have stayed

IF u dnt travel out try to travel out and see or live among other tribes u wont see this type segregation... infact i would say ibos are d most welcoming tribe... forget all these u read online
I schooled in east and also spent some years there after school..nobody will term u "omo yoruba" omo rivers..omo edo.. or "omo hausa"
dat word alone dat yorubas use is very segregating

Im not being sentimental here im only commenting based on my experience.
Aint saying there are no nice yorubas though

What a hard experience my but thank God u finally stood after going through all these.

But i will still point this out that yoruba people are too segregating... yes they discriminate a lot.
And thats vry bad.

I hav had some experiences where a yoruba man will prefar to tell a blatant lie just to take sides with his fellow yoruba man.. its a pity.

There was a time i went for job interview they people inteviewing us coulndt hide their bias callin all yorubas in a seperate room to advice them or somethin.... later iheard that most of d yorubas got d job. Even one dat didnt study anythin related to what we came for.

Yet some fools will tell me we are ONE NIGERIA

Because this is what you come to SW to do and uses all kind of "shop" as cover up.

How Chukwudi Oweniwe killed his Yoruba girlfriend in Ondo State – 22-year-old Ondo Poly student
By Abiodun Badejo
on August 25, 2016
Daily Post
A twenty-two year-old Student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO) in Ondo State, Chukwudi Oweniwe has been arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Miss Nifemi Adeyeye in a bush at Ilu-Abo, in Akure North local government area of Ondo State early this month.

Chukwudi and Nifemi were both Part-Time students of the department of Science and Laboratory Technology (SLT).

The suspect, who lives in Ayede-Ogbese was said to have invited the deceased to his place from their school and subsequently lured her into a bush in Ilu-Abo and killed her.

He was alleged to have performed some ritual activities on her late girlfriend.

However, when Chukwudi was speaking with reporters at the police command in Akure, the state capital when he was being paraded, he confessed to the crime but denied using the lady for ritual.

He narrated how he killed the lady saying “I invited her from Owo to Akure and after introducing her to my parents, I lured her into a bush and strangled her, leaving her body in the bush.

“On the second day, I asked a commercial motorcycle rider to take me to the bush where I left her; I observed that she was not dead and I used a stoned to hit her head and she died immediately.

“My parents became curious when they did not see her and I was arrested by Police in Ayede Ogbese and from there, they transferred me to anti-cultism in Akure”.

When asked why he killed her girlfriend, Chukwudi said he did not know the spirit that came on him and that it was when he killed her that he realised that he had committed a sin.

He also denied being a cultist.

He said they had been dating since February this year and that she had never cheated on her.

The State Police commissioner, Mrs. Hilda Ibifuro-Harrison said Nifemi’s remains were recovered in the bush by men of the Special Anti-cultism squad.

She said the police were still investigating the matter to unravel the suspect’s action.

You're right, there are criminals everywhere, but this is not what this thread is all about.
It's about discrimination and hatred because you're from a particular tribe. That is something you'll hardly find in the east. A lot of people from SW and other parts of the country live and function peacefully in the east without any form of discrimination. They're not treated differently than Igbos. You don't see Igbos "winching" them or carrying placards and whining that they should leave the SE.

I don't know anything about carrying placard asking people to leave the SW. Wicked people are everywhere that is my point.

I know an igbo man that deals in merchandises who never employs any other person apart from his igboid people.

What about the hundreds of part sellers littered all over SW that don't support anyone else except the people from their villages. Ordinary sales girl or boy posiiton they will travel all the way to their village to bring someone to work for them.

I can go on and on.

my point is discrimination is not limited to any tribe, least Yoruba of all tribe. There could be exceptions but its not our way of life.

This is why i am ever careful how i group people together and what i say. Go check those businesses they hardly go far.

You're still missing the point here.
The thread is not talking about discrimination in employment which is quite national problem.
When you come to a region not yours, you legitimately rent a shop, start up a business and when you start doing well, you'll see the indigenes start "winching" you and clamoring that you leave their place - that is what I'm talking about. That is pure hatred and envy, especially when they know that you're from a particular tribe.
That is what I tell you you hardly find in the east. in the east,it's live and let live. Can you compete with the people there in your business choice? If yes, then you're very welcome.

97% of the robberies and kidnappings happening in Lagos daily are carried out by Yoruba boys from Ekiti state. Don't mind that man.

Let me share something happening to me right now. I live in a house with standard flats and BQs. my neighbor who is igbo rented his BQ to a young guy who is a tailor. what if i tell you this tailor guy has never greeted me in the over one year he moved into the house. i have caught him several times looking at me with that " who does he think he is" kind of look. Maybe because i am single and living in a flat alone he is jealous or just pure envy. I have come home several times that this guy will be standing beside the gate and instead of him to open the gate for me, he acts like he is too blind to see my car. will it be ok if i say igbo people are jealous and envious people because the guy is igbo?

Now lets go back to the period after 1970, AFTER THE CIVIL WAR. Do you realize there was no case of abandoned property in the SW. igbos came back to Ibadan, Lagos etc to meet their property and even got their rent paid fully to them while in the SS igbos were not allowed to go near their property again. Google abandoned property after the civil war and show me one single case of igbo property taken over in the SW.

when people say Yoruba people are accommodating, it is not gain saying.
