TheGoodJoe:Yes 1984,we were beaten hands down with Muda Lawal scoring d first goal and Cameroon replied with 3 goals,i remember Roger Milla used his experience to torment young Keshi who was captain then at 22 and Patrick Okala who stood in for injured Peter Rufai in d final Oh 1988,mehn daylight robbery,Roger Milla dived to deceive d referee after a slight contact with Sunday Eboigbe and penalty was given which Milla converted, also Henry Nwosu scored a wonderful goal with his head but referee ruled offside. At d end Cameroon 1 Nigeria 0 at Maroc 88. |

goldfish80:Is it the same cameroun ?they outmuscled most of their opponents , they ve meet their match , they will try harder . but i give it to their 21 year old keeper , he single handedly took them to the semi,s .if you watch that game you will remember the chelsea of the days of Mourinho (negative football) i still don't believe they are better , what has improved so far is their confidence , tactics is still zero. |

lexyman:Cameroun and Egypt are the most tactically disciplined sides in this championship. These guys stay true to their strategy, hardly out of shape and very hard to beat. These attributes are the evidence of a well coached team. In the game against Senegal, if you watched closely you would have noticed they had the clearer chances and merely reduced Senegal to half chances. Football is not all about fancy footwork and passing. You have to respect other people's way of playing the game. If watched their game throughout this tournament, you will appreciate how tactically aware the Cameroonians are. Nigerians should be a little bit more circumspect and Liberal when analysing football. I noticed a lot of people don't just fancy this Cameroonians because we have them to deal with in the WCQ. Thankfully Gernot Rohr have a different view from Nigerians especially those on the cyberspace. |

goldfish80:Rightly said, however if you noticed to they give out q lot of fouls and that could be their own undoing against Ghana, reason why Cameroon will not go far in the present world cup. An average tactical team can defeat. Oh least I forget Ghana seems to know how to win penalties. So this might be an issue. You don't need to play muscle football with them. Just get one or two defenders to get a yellow card and you can take up the rest from there. The cameroonians don't really score unlike the Egyptians. So I will not compare both. For Nigeria to beat them, Moses must make them commit a lot of fouls and that is it. They will bulge eventually |

TheSuperNerd:There is favoritism, racism and discrimination in football no doubt. However, eventually the cream rises to the top. When we move down south in England the propensity for racism reduces dramatically. I spent a week at Tottenhams academy in 2013 when Ehiogu, Ferdinando and Chris Ramsey were youth coaches. I had never seen so many black members of staff across the board in a football club as I found at Tottenham. Nathan was not considered the bright star at that time it was Josh Onuma. Nathan has been on loan and has played for all the youth teams but he failed to breakthrough. Football is not just fancy tricks and rainbow flicks but essentially end product will get you far not show boating. Nathan is not on the level of Gabriel by a huge margin, statistically he has done nothing comparatively they can't share the same page in any shape or form. I am not sentimentality biased where Nigeria is concerned to the point that I loose all objectivity. On Sunday I watched Fulham against Hull in which Sone Aluko (tried and tested) gave a star performance after beating a full strength Hull 4-1. In that game a 16 year old black boy played left back and was outstanding scoring one goal. I spoke to the head of Fulhams recruitment at Blackburn last year when they beat Blackburn and he told they were looking for at least £15 million but expect upwards of £20 million. The idea that racial discrimination is holding Nathan back is simply baseless. |

TheSuperNerd:I have known Raheem since he was 14 and he has played as either striker or winger. Indeed one season he led the line at Liverpool. Essentially the modern game requires a fusion, a winger is a striker that is either coming from the left or the right. |

I would have been indifferent to Cameroon winning this AFCON, if not for the fact that they get to go for Confederations cup in the summer, which will help them further strengthen their team dynamics. I don't want that ![]() Like I told an Egyptian friend last year, I will be routing for them because our ceding the ticket to them must not be in vain ![]() |

Lazyerudite:It will take more than giving yellow cards to win them. They can opt for rotational fouling. Any good tactical manager will opt for this to stop Moses. Call it whatever you want, it will pass as strategy any coach playing Nigeria will consider using to stop Moses. If the Ghanaians want to beat this Lions, Grant must start his best shooters. Trying to play through Cameroun with precise passes and ariel balls won't work. Against the Super Eagles, I expect Rohr to tactically lure Cameroun in a trap. By that I mean, giving them false possessions in less threatening areas of the pitch will do the trick. The gaps they leave could be exploited with fast wingers down the channels. |

Yeah like Jesus doesn't showboat too.... Only Oduwa does that. I don't speak stats here. Football-wise based on footwork, fancy tricks and pace and dare, Jesus and Nathan are the same and saying that Nathan hasn't risen up the ladder because he's not good enough is also baseless. For crying out loud.... Anyway, not surprised you will rule out color discrimination here just because you wanna make a case for Gabby Jesus. So sweet... ![]() komekn: |

A Winger is NOT A STRIKER.... A winger is a forward/attacker and equally considered a midfielder. These terms are all defined. A Striker is a majorly a centre-forward. Both "striker" and "centre-forward" terms are used interchangeably in modern day football. The fusion you speak of in Wingers are exemplified by the likes of C.Ronaldo... He's a wing-forward/winger (more of a wing-forward) and can also play striker or withdrawn striker. C.Ronaldo is no typical winger. He evolved big-time. I could use Messi as example too. Messi is wing-forward/false9/withdrawn striker super hybrid.... He's no typical winger also. "Forwards/attackers" are the generic words for men of the final third.... Their types include: -The Centre-forward/Striker -The Wing Forwards -The Wingers (RW/LW or LM/RM) **Equally counted as midfielders....** -The Second striker or withdrawn striker/deep-lying forward -The False 9 -The "off the shoulder" striker -The goal poacher... Etc -I would add the AMFs but they are actually midfielders... Only Hybrid AMFs can be called true forwards. komekn: |

You never hear of Evander or one marcelinho like that? ![]() Anyway shaa... At least you agree on the brazillian "pele and zico genes" factor. ![]() And yes naa.... I get reason why I call midfield... For attack alone, Neymar don kill us... For back, David Luiz, Thiago Silva, Miranda, Felipe luis, Marcelo...... Haba!!!! We get better goalkeeper shaa... ![]() You think I no see ya trap on time... That's why I focused on just midfield.. Mikel lords it over those brazillian midfielders. EOD. But as a whole... Abeg.. I will never wanna say The brazillian national team should be compared to ours... Ours is still young and despite the fine results of the team in the WCQs so far, we got a long long way to go... #fact forgiveness: |

TheSuperNerd:Actually my post was more generic with regard to racism and discrimination and not specific to Gabriel. Furthermore, I do not think Gabriel would classify himself as white. But you claimed that racial discrimination is what is holding Nathan back. If he was based in the north of England I would say there is some possibility. But certainly not in London what so ever. |

I have an aunt in London who lives with her husband and kids, Sir. You think because racism is not as pronounced or "made obvious" in london as it is in other parts, then it doesn't exist? I disagree with your angle... My aunt tells me otherwise. ![]() But it's okay... Your beliefs not mine. And hey! About Gabby Jesus... We speak football here. Who doesn't want some fancy footwork-conjuring brazillian on their team?? Who wouldn't want someone from the national bloodline of Pele and Zico?? Are the brazillians discriminated against or underrated like the Africans? Na wa ooo... ![]() komekn: |

You said a winger is a striker from either right or left when explaining fusion... And I say no, you're wrong. A striker is a centre-forward pre-dominantly. Simple. And talking about "waste of time", it didn't take me much to state the difference between forwards and strikers.... Did it? waste of time indeed... komekn: |

Conte ‘sorry’ Mikel left Chelsea https://images.supersport.com/2017/1/Mikel-Tianjin-001.jpg Mikel John ObiChelsea manager Antonio Conte claims he was "sorry" to see Super Eagles captain Mikel John Obi leave Stamford Bridge to join Tianjin TEDA. Mikel departed Chelsea this month to join the Chinese Super League club after failing to break into Conte’s side in the first half of the 2016/17 season. Speaking during his press conference on Friday on speculations linking Branislav Ivanovic with a move away from Chelsea, Conte revealed that he was not the happiest man in the world when the Mikel departed the Stamford Bridge club. “I think Ivan (Ivanovic), he played a lot of games for this club and he won a lot for this club. “He is 32 and I think he can play for many years. “He is able to continue his career in the right way at the top level. But it is also important to respect the decision of the player. “This type of a player is a legend in the club and if you are not playing a lot you can make a decision to go and play with another team. “For sure because when you start the season to work with a squad and a group of players you try to create a link between the players and I, my staff. “For sure, we are sorry if someone decides to go away. The same for Oscar and for Mikel, for example. “But we know this is football and we are prepared for every situation,” Conte said. Mikel won 11 trophies during his time at Chelsea, including two Premier League titles and one Uefa Champions League title. Mikel joined Chelsea as a 19-year-old from Norwegian Premier League side Lyn in 2006 but did not make a single appearance under Conte with the Nigerian international admitted playing time was a factor in his decision to leave. Odion Ighalo on his way to China Nigerian and Watford striker, Odion Ighalo may be on its way to China. But he may change his mind if he accepts the loan bid by West Brom Albion. According to a report in Watford Observer, Watford have reportedly agreed a £20m deal with Chinese club Chongchun Yatai the striker. https://d19lga30codh7.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Odion-Ighalo.jpg Odion IghaloHead coach Walter Mazzarri confirmed last week the club had received several offers for the Nigerian striker. Ighalo’s form has nosedived in the last year scoring just two goals this season for Watford. The 27-year-old has previously turned down a move to China but with first-team chances likely to be limited, after the signings of Mauro Zarate and M’Baye Niang, Ighalo may decide his future lies away from Vicarage Road. Ighalo was left out of the squad for yesterday’s FA Cup defeat at Millwall and is unlikely to be involved at Arsenal tomorrow. Meanwhile, West Bromwich Albion are also bidding for Ighalo’s service, according to Mail Online. West Brom have asked to take Ighalo on loan. Albion made enquiries earlier in the window for Ighalo but are reluctant to match Watford’s valuation. However, Watford are unlikely to agree to a loan at this stage having agreed to accept an offer from Changchun Yatai of around £22million. Ighalo has struggled for form this season. This barren spell is in stark contrast to the Nigerian’s first year in the top flight last season, when he netted 16 in 37 matches. West Brom are looking for a new forward after finally selling Saido Berahino, the striker having joined Stoke City this month. Watford meanwhile have signed striker M’Baye Niang on loan from AC Milan and Mauro Zarate for £2.5m for Fiorentina, which would give them enough options should Ighalo leave for either the Far East or the West Midlands. Watford boss Walter Mazzarri admits Isaac Success' return will be 'like a new signing' https://www.hertfordshiremercury.co.uk/images/localworld/ugc-images/276464/Article/images/30098083/15828554-large.jpg LENGTHY ABSENCE: Isaac Success has missed 15 games through injury this season (Photo by PA)Watford boss Walter Mazzarri feels that Isaac Success' return will feel like the club have made a new signing. No date has been set for Success' return although he is expected to return to full training at some point this week. The Nigerian forward has made just eight appearances for the Hornets so far this season, missing large chunks with a hamstring problem. The Hornets' head coach was asked if he would seek a replacement for Odion Ighalo, who is expected to move to China in the coming days, but explained that Success, alongside M'Baye Niang and Mauro Zarate have already replaced him. Mazzarri said: "If we get back Isaac Success he will be like an new signing. "He hasn't been playing a lot of games and if we manage to get him back completely he'll be a new signing for us. "Zarate is available from next Saturday, Niang from tomorrow, so I think we sign these two players to substitute the departure of some players." He also explained what he expects Niang to bring to the side, with the Frenchman tipped to be named on the bench for tomorrow's game at Arsenal. "We signed him because we believe in this young player; he has great qualities," he added. "The important thing is that he gets a good environment here and feels comfortable as soon as possible. "He's got great running qualities, a lot of good technique as well. If he manages to understand our mechanism and how we play, he can be very important for us and he's important for the Premier League." Last week, Obaje completed a sensational transfer to the Federation Cup holders and was expected to wear the colours of his new club against his former team in a matchday 5 fixture at the Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, today. But the striker, who scored 18 goals to emerge the 2015/2016 NPFL top scorer, revealed he was still in Bauchi and would only link up with his new teammates at FC Ifeanyiubah next week. "I'm in Bauchi now. I'll join them next week after sorting out a few personal issues. So I don't think I will be part of the team against my former club, Wikki Tourists. Hopefully, I could start with the next game which is a home match against Rangers,” he said. "I know much is expected of me and I hope to deliver. Scoring against Rangers in my first game is important and I just pray it happens.” Obaje missed a chance to sign for top Russian club Spartak Moscow as well as Tunisian clubs Etoile du Sahel and Club Africain before he opted for a deal with FC Ifeanyiubah.
