And it's such a shame too.

I've been replacing a lot of stuff. All the ball joints and steering stuff are all new.

Changed mine as well, the cabin air filter as well as engine air filter.

The air condition difference was clear almost immediately. It has over 7 intensity settings i rarelt ever get to 3, always on 2. For the engine i noticed it used more fuel, thought a clean air filter was meant to increase mileage per gallon.

Gurus what could cause this

I picked it up locally a couple of months ago but it came through Lagos many years ago.

I charge my air filters with every service performed. A country like Nigeria that is very very dusty, an air filter charge is advised every 3 months.
Do not also forget to replace the cabin filters also.....

Are you experiencing excessive fuel consumption, pre or post filter replacement?

Possibly your vehicle is responding better and your lead foot is simply over-enjoying the throttle response........

It's almost a waste of money replacing your air filter every 3 months. Do you drive in the desert? Except perhaps, you implied cleaning...

I clean mine at every service interval and replace when it's due.
