Your reasoning is that of a typical Nigerian who has never crossed the border, who watches nta and african magic and read nairaland posts only. If you have ever reasoned outside your comfort of ignorance, you would have known that farmers are business people who do business for profit, and it is their profits and access to credit facilities that is used to construct silo, set up laboratory to engineer crop yields and build green houses for controlled germination and cultivation of vegetables A so called professor is still projects the image of subsistent farming in his head.

Una wan move market enter farm cos of cost of transportation, but you forget that the traders will pay extra fares to reach the remote location and must mark up their profits.

Only stupid people supprts stupid politicians.

Farmers are business people? Oh! Like I don't know grin grin grin grin That you are unintelligent is not in doubt, but that you are "patently" ignorant is befuddling. WTF is the rubbish you put up ther (underlined)? You will do yourself a world of good, if you actually take time to study rather than rush to google and read amiss.

1. How do you expect the farmer to "pay" for all facets of the value-chain. Even in the Oil and Gas industry (arguably the highest marging business) a single IOC cannot pay for all the facets of the value-chain
2. Within the examples you mentioned, you have government/private sector partnerships. Even GEJ's Agric minister invested in Silos, not to talk of ObJ and YarAdua.
3. So if traders must enter remote location.....and must mark up, you can not reason that if you turn the tide around, build collection points closer to the traders and move bulk, you can achieve net-reduction (economics of scale)? Or you do not know that a simple provision haulage to co-operative farmers on a rent-to-own scheme will near eliminate unnecessary transportation costs and increase volumes?

Bros, your reasoning deficit is just top-notch

You are highly unlettered and toxically ignorant. The fact that you are in-exposed to global dynamics makes you a local champion. In climes where human cerebral mechanics are efficient, you would have understood my underlined statement, but then it is not for a locally trained nematode to understand, so allow others with a reasoning faculty to ponder and come to conclusion.

I submit that you have never in your useless life underscored the importance of lending to Agro and allied industries and such industrial complexes as a panacea for killing hunger worldwide. The reason some of you are very poor even with academic degrees in lack of specialized knowledge.

How can a Professor, a SAN and a Vice President, discuss about moving markets closer to farmers as a panacea to poor distribution of agro-products ? Does that even make sense ? In other climes, specialized rail coaches are designed as a means of transportation of food from one state to another without the need to move produce in lorries and motorcycles, yet a daft fellow like you that has never invested money in any industry have the effrontery to support an ignorant politician.

There is more to scarcity of food that movement of food. Ask the crazy Federal Government to provide Access to Funding and set up Grants for young graduates and make it enticing for youths to embrace agriculture instead of politics and other ills. This crazy govt has not learnt anything about the Nigerian spirit. Look at the music industry, look at the movies industries and look at religion as industry. People are enticed into those fields because there is promise of monetary gains. replicate that in the agro-sector and watch the sector grow.

You are as pathetic as any nematode can be, except that your mentality is 14% of that of a tadpole.

We don't red a Presidential task force to find out why food prices are high in a Country with an inflation rate of over 20%.The increase in petrol cost contributed significantly to the increase in prices because transportation cost is very significant in determining the price of the commodities in the market. The farmers also need to fix the prices at levels that the proceeds will be enough to purchase other commodities that they need for survival like shelter, clothing's,school fees etc.The most important step to take at this point is to tackle inflation aggressively and once it comes down, most prices will be reviewed downwards.

How can you tackle inflation when the traders are greedy? give me some ideas, justify why palm oil should triple in price? Justify why prices of goods tripled when most importers get travelex for as low as 320naira to $1? justify why big companies that source for cheap forex from CBN still tripled their prices? You said they fixed prices to enable them buy other things? like seriously? who thinks like that if not a blood sucking African trader, you increase the price of Camry because range rover is expensive, this is the most bizarre thing i have ever heard.
Tell me why our NLNG allocation for LPG is in Bonny where the traders abandoned it to create artificial scarcity to triple prices? Blame the Government with sense, did i hear increase in price of petrol? ok, it increased by 60%, add 60% mark up to all the commodities in the market and explain to me why people are crying.
there is a reason why there is no successful Black nation in the world, Nigeria cant be an exception, Nigerian mentality is bleeped.

In sane countries, goods and services exposed to the economic change will be expensive but not the rest, only a Nigerian brain will mark up pepper or palm oil from his backyard to buy Range rover and someone thinks its ok!! mtchew!!

It may shock you to know that the bulk of your palm oil is imported!! The devaluation of your naira has seriously affected the pricing. How much in dollars does your Travelled disburse per person that you think will affect your goods.,less than $1000 per person.

My brother, the same price control regime has come back. These people are the epitome of clueleßness. Bet me people will now start hoarding and "esential commodities" will resurrect.
Clueless!! Clueless!!! Highest level of Cluelessness!

If you are amongst the manufacturers who collect cheap forex from the CBN yet double prices, get ready to be whipped!!
If you are one of the BDC operators who collect cheap forex from CBN auction then take it to the black market, DSS will give you a new address.

1. Clap for yourself for the concoction of these needless jargons
2. That you do not understand the context and rationale of "moving markets closer to farms" is to say the least, show how you are bereft of logical reasoning, not to talk of creative one. That you cannot draw a nexus between your submission of
specialized rail coaches are designed as a means of transportation of food from one state to another without the need to move produce in lorries and motorcycles
as one of the concepts of "moving the market closer to farms" show your limited education is an utter waste. If you had bothered to read up my earlier submission, I posited a combination of rail coaches, and yes the advanced countries you mentioned also do move agric produce by trucks and barges.
3. Ask the government to provide access to funding you say? What has BOI been doing? What is the intent of the forth coming Bank of Agriculture? What is the essence of the CBN's N75B Agric loan to states and other loans to farmers? Has it made the problem vanish in a jiffy?
4. Comparing the Music and "Religion" Industry to Agric business show how lame you are. First off, tell me what has government, current and past done to organise the music industry? and What da fvck is "religion" industry if I may ask? You are making reference to a creation that is fostered by our lack of industrialisation as reference? Boy you're so daft. How can you compare a Music industry that self-evolved to an industry that require a lot of structures and nurturing.
5. Grants for young graduates? You cannot be serious. That you don't know squat about Agri-business is glaring, and that you are bereft of logical reasoning is quite apparent. I thought GEJ's YouWin scheme gave grants to young graduates? How has it significantly impact on Agri-business in the country today?

and that is one of the thing the Task force should highlight. Besides as lucrative as the food export business is, we many need to put a ring-fence around volumes of export relative to local demand. For example how do we export so much volume of garri overseas when we're yet to get enough at home?

$5k is nothing to any serious importer except people importing things like phone accessories etc.
