Prices of items(food and non food) are going haywire and d cattle rearer we all thought we had as a president, was just a statue, weighed down by dementia, dullness and bigotry.
I av maintained that d cattle rearer shud step aside for Osinbajo because he cannot do worse than him.

These people take Nigerians for fools. Too bad, some Nigerians prove them right.

Osibanjo has also lost his God-given mind.

Mr. Professor, it is called Cost of Transportation. It has to do with price of petrol. And it has to do with How Much a poor farmer needs in return so she can cook a pot of soup and eat too. A farmer will not sell his/her produce for 10 naira when 10 naira can not buy kerosene to cook her soup.

Are these people finally brain dead ?

The prices of goods was stable, then one certain Cow herder increased price of petrol, gamble with fx differentials, fleece people accounts and the panic created made the billionaires to move their funds, changed them to dollars and launder them to safe heavens. NoW what we have here is a mess.

Your Buhari went out there and say Nigerians are all corrupt, now that investors are pulling out and businesses firing, you turn around and keep your face like person wey no sleep for 4 weeks. May be if these our Presidency people start smoking sk, they will reason better.

What we expect from this Government is 100% Resignation. No more! Nigerians need some "respek" to their names.

Fake Pastor Osinbajo head is not correct. How much will this task force now charge as fees? Amaechi that bought two 6 million dollar helicopters for 30 million dollars is the thief that Osinbajo wants to lower food prices? E don do. Asiko ti to. Change will begin when those incompetent are driven out of government.

Below is a statement from the presidency;

Moved by the need to enhance affordability of food prices across country, the Buhari administration has constituted a Presidential Task Force to urgently consider measures that would ensure a steady flow of produce to the market and reverse recent price increases.

Giving the directive today at the Federal Executive Council meeting, Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, expressed concern at some of the inflationary rates of food prices, noting that the Task Force will explore options to promote availability and affordability of food items to Nigerians.

According to him, the Task Force, which has seven days from today to report back to the Council will consider how to remove some of the cost-raising factors that come into play between the farms and the markets and therefore "bring relief to our people."

While there have been reports of bumper harvests in parts of the country, the prices of food stuff still end up rather high, while some of the produce even end up wasted due to a number of reasons preventing effective transportation delivery to the markets.

One of the focus areas of the Task Force, the Ag. President noted, would be to review the transportation and preservation processes, and see how government can intervene in those aspects to bring down food prices.

The Task Force, which would be meeting with the Ag. President in the discharge of its urgent assignment, will therefore draw out a practical plan and present same to the Council next week.

Members of the Task Force include the following:

Minister of Agriculture & Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh
Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun
Minister of Industry, Trade & Development, Dr. Okey Enelamah
Minister of Transportation, Honorable Rotimi Amaechi
Minister for Water Resources, Engr. Suleiman
Minister of Labour & Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige

The Offices of the Chief of Staff to the President and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, would also be on the Task Force.

Y'all want food prices to come down? Really? With fuel at N145? Really? The truth about fuel price hike is that it takes a very long time to cause prices in food items to rise... And when they eventually rise months later, no fact finder will remember that someone doubled the price of petrol overnight. Mr Acting presido... Your dogs are on a wild goose chase... For 7 days that is...

*Modified*
Wait o! I read somewhere Senate wants to add N5 to fuel for road construction... Which type of road exactly? Is it the original road like mobolaji bank Anthony that was properly done or the type on Allen avenue that is resurfaced every 2 years?

Which spec of road are they planning to do with the N5...
Thank God my mama is not a trader... this gov will soon start flogging market women to lower prices... WAS (Watch And See)

BTW.... the members of the task force are the usual people who have been spoiling Nigeria since.. so we still shouldn't expect any change AT aLL apart from reports on paper

Desperate situation calls for desperate measures.

The law of demand and supply hasn't been effective due to greedy people except for few commodities (perishable goods like tomatoes, et.al ) whereby sellers have no choice than to force down the price to avoid wastage but others like provisions and canned foods are on the increase which I believe there must be assurance dept to checkmate the gluttony and barbaric thirst of middleman/retailers.

How do you set up a task force to beat down prices of goods while the cost of transportation remains stagnantly high.
What is the price of petrol?
What are the prices of raw materials?
What is the official rate of Naira to a Dollar?
What is the current electricity tariff?
What is the price of communication?

A government that has failed to properly regulate the direct financial impact of the above factors has no moral advising citizens to beat down prices of commodities let alone forcing them.

Please they should come to owerri ASAP, our traders here are too wicked, they take advantage of the dollar crisis to inflate even locally produced goods, from garri, fufu, palm oil, ugba, in fact everything. The worst is their dubious nature of missing other substances in order to make profit. Palmoil is being mixed with other substances and most consumers are not aware, klin and Ariel are used to wash fufu to make it appear white. The painful thing is that the so call market leaders are less concerned about all these as long as they pay their dues.

Bros, I took all these into consideration and I am not saying you are not presenting a superior argument but the fact still remains that despite the highlighted factors, a price regulatory body needs to step in to curb unusual hike in commodity price.

History wants to repeat its self, he (buhari) did it in 1983 as military head of state, 2017 as democratic president he wants use the same formula again. Did he succeeded then? No. Reason is there is no subsidy given to the traders . I can't buy a tuber of yam for #180 and you expect me to sell at #90 .it won't work
