Just my 2cents on baby umbilical cord cleaning. When I much younger, I believe people where using spirit to clean the umbilical cord. However, life has moved past this period. Enough research and enough dos n donts but truth is we probably should always do what we feel is best for our child especially following an informed decision. Me, I decided to read about esential oils and found helpful information that attracted my curiosity. In the end, myrrh essential oil was said to be ideal. It sorts out infection and dries out cord which falls off as early as 3days I am pleased to say I used it for my son day 2 of his life n day three it fell off! 24hrs in total. After which life continued. Ive now suggested to my sis n others and it less thing to worry abt as a ftm or new mum. Or read this info. Bolaalimat hbp in pregnancy usually pregnancy induced! It doesn't mean you are thinking too much or over worrying yourself. It often times goes away as soon as you put to bed or after some time. Eat less salt and lots of cucumber and also plenty water! this will help you manage it along side some drugs your doctor will prescribe so it doesn't degenerate to preeclampsia. Take note of any headache, sweating especially at night, blurry vision and palpitations! Always keep your legs elevated to avoid them swelling too much. For the umbilical cord care, the current trend is to use chlorhexidine gel in cleaning the cord. The gel is an antiseptic that can help to keep most bacteria on check. Research has found and proved it to be more effective than spirit if used appropriately and it is recommended by WHO. That's what my current hospital where I registered for antenatal uses. Bolaalimat, pls listen to d helpful tips others hv suggested. In addition let ur doc prescribe medication to control ur bp pls. High bp is not only caused by "thinking" (who doesnt?). It's one of those medical conditions whose cause is not known. Science can only name predisposing factors. It is well with u and ur LO Cheeketo that pain cannot be normal. Pls go back to the hospital and complain. Chanbaby, the level to which ur mother can contribute to d naming/dedication of ur child will be determined by u and ur dh. If u're not comfortable with anything she wants to do, both of u stand together and gently but firmly say no. |

chrisada dts hw i was given that gel in the hospital i delivered my first child, the gel didnt do anything, when the nurses saw that my son's cord stump didnt fall off and it was looking dirty, they told me to start using spirit. Spirit is better o, dat gel does nothing 1 Like |
