I'm Justice and i'm 22. I'm posting this to NL only cos I've sort help but haven't gotten any. It took months before i could summon enough courage to think of sharing my feelings online ,and i'm really looking forward to positive replies(only Christians).


For a while now i've found myself losing faith in God. Sometimes i feel religion is a joke. I still go to church ,still pray but within me i doubt there's actually someone listening to my prayers.

Sometimes when something good happens and people praise God i think it ridiculous. Reason is that good things are always bound to happen. Even to murderers.

I hate how i feel ,i'm gradually turning into an atheist. I've prayed for salvation, to believe Jesus lives and cares. I asked a guy for help all he said was i should read the new testament and believe everything written in it cos it's God's word. That didn't help.


Please i need someone in the right path(a good Christian) to help cos i really want to believe. I don't want to miss heaven.

You see , I've got a room mate who just got converted and according to him everything now turns out well for him . He can't stop preaching to me and telling me about how good Jesus is .

He now prays and fasts ; and he exhorts me to do same . This was the same person who felt he was an inveterate smoker and womanizer . He is just 21 and his body count is close to 30 . He always says : 'I am the light ' , ' I was once an evil doer ' , 'Jesus saved me ' . He now goes to his friends in their rooms and preaches to them . He had an encounter with Christ and since then his life transformed instantly and totally

This change was instateneous . Since 22 years of being a Christian , I have never seen anything like that . It's very inspiring and edifying at the same time .

I ain't gonna yap about the logical consequences of denying the existence of God which is clearly axiomatic or adjure you to choose deism since you no longer feel any connection towards religion - I don't have time for that bullshit any longer , it's a complete waste of time . So here are two things you need to know : your spirit man is weak and you have lost focus . Work on these two things and I think you'll be fine .

Your feelings are not strange and you are not the first to go through this stage of life. Permit me to point out to you two people who had a similar experience as recorded in the bible.

At a stage in my life I questioned everything I ever believed. This was particularly so when I started school abroad away from family and friend. It was very refreshing to discover the truth of God's word and the sufficiency of scriptures myself. Those were the best years of me finding God myself.

Atheism isn't a solution to the issues you are having with yourself. Atheism requires a bigger faith than any of the religions in the world. It is anti-reality and dumb in it's conclusions. The intellectual "atheists" now profess to be agnostics because it is almost impossible to logically support atheism as a fact.

Many of the things that go on in the Nigerian church is not Christianity. So called testimony time is more of a show off than actually testifying to God's goodness and mercy. In a true Christian church brethren thank God in all things and not just when things are going well. The church is a family where the love of Christ reigns. I once read a book titled "Satan's 10 most believable lies" one of it is that "Christians serve God for what God can do for them" that is the basis of Job's crises ( "Does Job fear God for nothing?" Satan replied. Job 1:9). Unfortunately many Nigeria churches preach and teach this satanic lie that you serve God for something - which should include prosperity. This is what many of those testimonies are based on. You have a right to question it.

Justice you have an opportunity to examine God's word yourself. To see the truth of God's word undiluted. To understand the reason for our faith in God and Christ. To examine the true doctrine of the church, which include persecution. I would love to help if you don't mind (you may contact me). I think your statement contradicts, you cant sin like everyone else and claim to be born again nor be baptised with the Holy Spirit. The Bible says ''He who is born of God, sin not''. As a born again, you are not like everyone else....

The same Bible says that all has sinned and come short of the glory of the Lord.

I never claimed to be born again. I was baptized as an infant. Nevertheless ,i can boldly stand out in a gathering of good people .

I envy your courage and sincerity but the truth remains that YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN as your good work is not a criterium. There are people who are better than you in good works, yet to God, is like a filthy rag.

Did you loose a loved one? Those you thought would support you abandoned you while some don't understand how you feel? You sound like someone who has experienced a situation in life that makes him say where was God?
Brother, brace up, much as I would love to say its well, But frankly the journey may be long if you do not brace up and calm down, I would try to make time to type later. I wish you the best.

Here are my thoughts on prayer. I'll compare how the Christian god acts regarding prayer with how a potential friend might ask.
Let's say I contact a friend and tell her that I need some help doing something; I send an email, make a call, and she never gets back to me, not "Yes" not "No" not "maybe." I'd consider that pretty inconsiderate, though if she was particularly busy I might let it pass. If I ran into her and she said "well, I was going to help you, but I wanted you to stress out, send a few more emails and be more obsequious" I think I'd find a new friend.

None of my friends treat me like this. But this is basically how the Christian god operates.
Some people say that this is the wrong way to look at prayer, and it's like a *conversation.* But conversations require actual communication. Sitting around silently *feeling the presence* or someone or something isn't adequate communication by my standards. Even distant acquaintances do better than the Christian god seems to do here.

So, maybe it's all wrong, and the *only right prayer* is to just tell god "Your way, not my way, I SUBMIT I SUBMIT!" Wow, what a *deep, profound relationship.* It's about the same relationship you would have with a nutcase holding a gun to your head.

All said, remote acquaintances seem to provide a lot more meaningful contact than gods do through prayers.

There are stories of people praying to the Christian God and being healed.

There are stories of people praying to no gods and being healed.

There are stories of members of all three categories who are not healed.

How do we figure out if anything is going on except confirmation bias? We find people who are sick, we have some prayed for and some not, and we see if there is a different recovery rate. The Templeton Foundation - a group inclined to believe that prayer is effective - ran exactly that experiment and found no difference.

I can go on a limb and say You don't have millions of answered prayers; you have millions of people who're determined to believe that their prayers were answered. Big difference.

Explanations for how prayers work are actually justifications for why they don't.

Facebook is interesting . I don't know how many times I've seen " pray for a miracle for x" and then x dies and it's " pray for x's family" or whatever. You would think at some point they'd figure out prayer is useless at best. And I guess some do.

in another example; A few years ago, Texas was having a severe drought. They had state prayer days for rain and filled a stadium with the faithful who prayed for rain. Still there was no rain until the summer was over and then they got so much rain, they had floods.

The latest apology I've heard from theists on why prayer seems so embarrassingly ineffective is that people are praying for the wrong things. Instead of asking for a glass of water or a candy bar, they should be asking for god's will to be done.

Which turns intercessory prayer into a perfectly meaningless exercise. Because whatever happens ... grandma dying from cancer, getting the promotion, little Jimmy Billy Bob getting that 12-year-old girl pregnant ... that was all god's will in the first place. Good, bad or otherwise.

Praying that "Gods will be done" is one of people's last gasps as a theist, when they realise the things they are praying for aren't happening anyway.

let me state an undisputable fact here, there's NOTHING that can happen to an atheist - be it good or bad in varying degrees - that can't happen to a theist

when I face certain problems which solution to it is beyond my effort, what I do is to simply look at a theist going through similar or worse problem and that's all it takes for me to see that theism isn't the solution to it!

Typical Christian's consoling words: Ooh don't worry dear, god works in mysterious ways you know. His ways are not our ways. He knows his reasons for everything.

I never realized how much religious people came across as self-important until I broke away from my faith.

It's almost as of a god that does whatever he wants in random whimsy is similar to an entity-less universe that's indifferent to us.
If God is so damn mysterious why is it his followers seem to know exactly what the hell he wants? They also seem to think he's forgiven them for everything they've done and being UTTERLY certain bout his forgiveness.

I sense its not really heaven you fear missing, you just fear hell due to the huge level of indoctrination and brainwashing you've been subjected to since you were born and now you're questioning it

The Bible doesn't say much about what heaven is supposed to be like. Most of the claims about heaven are exaggerations of the Bible. The Bible says the Gates are made of pearl. What are the gates for? Are they made just as an excuse to irritate clams? Are the gates supposed to keep someone out or to keep souls from escaping?

The sales pitch for heaven is that there is only happiness and no sorrow. But it also says that many people's loved ones won't be there. Since they can't feel sorrow about that, are they ecstatic that their loved ones are being tortured forever? Either your memories are removed or your human empathy is removed. Is it really you that is left over once some parts of you have been removed?

If life matters to me now, it will always have mattered to me, even when I am gone. Death cannot change that.

Your best hope is to be locked in a gold cage with your memories of having an actual life being erased just so you can kiss ass for eternity.

Life is pleasant, death is serene. The transition might be troublesome but we all have to go through it. You shouldn't fear death so much. Heaven and hell are imaginary. You should reject the indoctrination. Life is much better that way.

My Father was a mean heartless man, but he taught me something great about being Atheist - That is a person that hate God and Jesus and all the great peaceful societal values that religions has endowed on societies of the world. My father said a true Atheist will never waste his time belittling others faith or beliefs.

My father said that is the way of a coward. It took me a few years before I started to see the truth of what he taught me. I quickly discerned the difference between a coward Atheist and a brave Atheist. A coward Atheist will always look for an opportunity to trash others that have higher values and ethics. I recently browsed your tragic attempt to hide your true character, hopefullandlord.

I will help atheist to be brave Atheists. Not cowards.

As an Atheist myself, I fully agree with Missviginluna. I have a large group of Atheist friend and family, the woman are ruined. We all love Pornography, we insist on anal etc. Atheist cheat freely because we dont have a proven moral compass like other people.

My lecturer asked me once why do we Atheists use such confusing language to discuss simple things. My reply was, "Atheists pimpi the language the way Atheists pimpi their cars." So as an Atheist with 20yrs experience of being radically Atheist, I like to cut to the chase and say it like it is, so religious people know what is hidden deep inside us. I am not a fence Atheist. I am on the other side.

I asked my large group of Atheist friends and family what they think about the points made here, they laughed and agreed that there is no heart felt romance in Atheism. It is cold and clinical. The position is always not right. The orgasm must be pumped up with agressive sex and all kinds of mechanical aids and sex aids. Nothing is natural anymore.

The other point here is a fallacy. An Atheist can not or will be unable to respect a Christians sex preference.
Firstly we Atheist hate Christ and God, so how can we respect a mere Christians sex preference but at the same time hate the God they believe in. It is frustrating to see all the serious contradictions among educated Atheists.

I am deeply Atheist but dont have much tolerance for cowards. You are a terrible example of what Atheism stands for. Further browsing on NL shocked me. I thought serious Atheist will welcome me here because of my deep personal experience of the delusional and too many destructive activities that Atheists engage in - in the name of Atheism. You guys are giving modern Atheism a bad name.

Let me introduce myself firstly to the small group of cowardly Atheists, I am not subtle or tactful when conversing with this highly educated but delusional group. They need correction to enable them to reach their final goal which is destruction of all thing personal.

Secondly, to the larger more evolved Atheist group, which I like to call the "brave ones" there are so many beneficial thing to actively work on that can take our world forward for the benefit of all on our planet.

I'm Justice and i'm 22. I'm posting this to NL only cos I've sort help but haven't gotten any. It took months before i could summon enough courage to think of sharing my feelings online ,and i'm really looking forward to positive replies(only Christians).


For a while now i've found myself losing faith in God. Sometimes i feel religion is a joke. I still go to church ,still pray but within me i doubt there's actually someone listening to my prayers.

Sometimes when something good happens and people praise God i think it ridiculous. Reason is that good things are always bound to happen. Even to murderers.

I hate how i feel ,i'm gradually turning into an atheist. I've prayed for salvation, to believe Jesus lives and cares. I asked a guy for help all he said was i should read the new testament and believe everything written in it cos it's God's word. That didn't help.

Please i need someone in the right path(a good Christian) to help cos i really want to believe. I don't want to miss heaven.

That is what I noticed about many of the cowardly Atheist I found while leisurely browsing NL, they lost focus on their reason for living, they also dont seem to have empathy for other decent people that also use NL. I quickly realized that NL is a great platform to rebuild our country.

To help the coward Atheists that say I contradict myself, I was born into a wealthy Atheist family. My cold hearted mother and viscous Father were both Atheists. My Atheist father insisted that my mother teach me about the difference between a Cowardly Atheist and Brave Atheist. For that I am grateful.

You are the Joke here. I know from experience that coward Atheists thrive on Contradictions, but I avoided that sick Atheistic benefit.

I was born an Atheist. my mother and Father were Atheists. At Five yrs old I declared that I am an Atheist.

I was invited by two well know Atheists to come and examine the embarrassment that some Atheists are causing us. What I have found in my brief visit here is shocking to the senses of all concerned.
