That one is the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE. it is for the big league players. Not for individuals like you and I so make u no flex your mind about it.
You no know say their are individuals and there are individuals?. All individuals are equal but some are more equal than the others. cheesy

When i said individual i also mean that even Dangote cannot participate in that OMO even with his money. Only commercial banks are the league players here. CBN uses that to either supply money or take excess liquidity from the commercial banks to sanitize the financial system and manipulate the rates.

so even if you are an individual that is more equal than other individual, you cannot play in this league.

I heard the Euro bonds will be sold this Feb, i'm interested in it too but i am a bit drawn back when i read it works slightly differently from TBills or MMFs.

Please throw more light into Euro bonds let's see if its a worthwhile Investment.
So far i deduced that a certain amount of Bond units will be issued and the interest rate range between 7-12% and minimum purchase is in thousands of USD. The interest rate is quite basic but my major concern is whether it can be easily cashed out just like TBills and MMFs or you will be subject to depreciation in value of units purchased.

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by awesomeJ(m): 10:12pm On Feb 07, 2017
I think the major thing that would attract anyone to this eurobond rather than t-bills is the huge potential capital gains that could accrue to the investment should the local currency plummet further. However, in the interest of our nation's economy, and of the masses, I really pray this terrible currency depreciation halts and reverses to at least the Q1'16 levels soonest.

Looking at the current prognosis, it actually doesn't seem like the euro will significantly appreciate against the Naira in the short to medium term. On the contrary, some are predicting that the euro will exchange at less than 1 against the dollar in the near future.

While the dollar may see some slight appreciation against the Naira; I personally do not believe the euro will fare as much.

I'll be happy to hear what world economy watchers think about this.

the eurobond doesn't mean the currency is euro. its just an external bond and it could be in any international currency apart from the local currency. It could be in Dollar, Pounds, Euro, Yen etc

My thoughts exactly.
@battleaxe, could the projected depreciation in the value of the euro versus USD be one of the effects of Brexit?
The funny thing is, for such coutries/regions, a weak currency sometimes means good news, because they have huge exports, and they try to keep most of their imports within the eurozone. Imagine, sometimes last year I guess, the US fed was actually hoping that inflation would rise to about 2% so they could raise rates.
The economy can be a very complicated stuff to handle, and I pray God takes care of Nigeria's for us.

Good day all, How can someone be part of the Open Market Operations. Saw on CBN website that there was one last Friday 3rd February. Please how do I ensure I do not miss out of the next one? Where should I look out for the next one. Thanks for all your contributions here.
Yes you can. Talk to your bankers and they should be able to guide you. You may be required to provide a standing instruction and keep your account funded. There is no timetable or pre-warning - so just look forward to waking up one morning up and see your account debited without warning.
