I was soo impressed by the reasons he gave that I decided to do a thread on it so that it can reach a wider audience.
This is dedicated to those of us who will be using Mediatek devices for a loong time. Now you have more points to fire at snapdragon users who feel that they are superior and know better.....which is not always the case.

I was quite disappointed to see quad core, so I made this comment...

Do you know why most flagships come with Qualcomms snapdragon?

Reason #1:

Other Chip-set manufacturers like MediaTek, Spreatrum and Broadcom. do not have the finesse in chip-sets to meet the experience of high-end customer.


Reason #2:

Its the phenomenon of sustainable competitive advantage. Big Brands don't want to work on Mediatek (which controls the market for most of Chinese originated smartphones,) because there are many vendors in Chinese ecosystem, who can quickly emulate the work of Big Brands on Mediatek.

Chinese vendors are experienced on Working on Mediatek Chip-sets, but are not experienced on Qualcomm chip-sets. So the capability of Chinese ecosystem is limited on Qualcomm. chip-sets., thus Work of Big Brands has lesser chances to be copied by Chinese vendors.


And as i said earlier...all this chips have strengths and flaws....but snapdragon have lesser flaws and perfom better in most aspects.

Mediatek chips are meant to power low to middle range phones and thats why this brand is so popular in africa where we prefer $150 phones rather than $700 phones ....and i have used both snapdragon and mediatek and find mediatek lagging behind....but why do i still use it?
because thats what i can afford....and tecno is my favorite among this other chinese brands.

I can relate with the reasons above.
Please share your reasons for choosing MediaTek over Snapdragon.

What I Do Na

Just coming in from tech villa.. My comment is without sentiments. Snapdragons are good but I think they are getting too comfortable with past glories and also on a high Billings. Mediatek started from somewhere not really cool buh I can see wea they are now is quite impressive and this guys got lots of advantages with cheap chips placed in some cool affordable devices. So at this point I rest my case before car go jam me for this ojota road

We shouldn't forget that there are several other chips besides these two. Kirin, exynos and Intel are going about their business jejely.
The battle for the most powerful and affordable chip is one that will push all the players to the edge and make them continue to innovate and improve, and we the consumers are the winners.
Tecno's mission has always been about making high quality smartphones affordable for every D,T & H so I trust them to go for a chip that will make this possible.

Mediatek is also very easy to root and tweak. My reason

And to come out with an affordable device, they have to go for the best less expensive chipset which mediatek is providing

erm....no it's not.

If other chips overtakes Snapdragon in both performance and affordability trust me OEMs will jump ship.

Wicked! There is what they call excusitis

Snapdragon Chipset are over hyped.,
They have increase in Overheating than Mediatek. The only phone company that know how to make use of Snapdragon chipset are htc but the flaw there is their battery don't last..


There are many advantage mediatek has over Snapdragon but u know anything that come first and are associated with the rich are always accepted first that's the case of snapdragon phones.


For me mediatek anyday anytime..Snapdragon can go to hell.. Their chipset is a no no for our wether in this part of the world.

I don't know why we always like to argue....
There are thousands of phone, enough to choose from... What everyone need in a phone is available.... If you like MTK... Go for it simple... If you love brand go for it... If your looking for battery, there is a phone with 10,000Mah... I have seen phones with 4 sims all na choice...

So no reason for arguments..

Yes maami.. . Just need a new device from tecno.... Maami ur using iphone 6 ryyt?

i love Mtk phones because Mtk cpu are easy to manipulate... 1. Easy Rom backup and Restore 2. Easy to recustomise the Rom and many more. I hate any Cpu i cant Manipulate.

The only little i know about these two is that snapdragon heat up and Mediatek doesnt

its depends and the Mtk cpu. Eg any phone with Mt6592 cpu does not produce much heat. (infinix hot Note)

All chipsets have their advantages and disadvantages. We can argue from now till tomorrow, it wont change the fact that there lovers of Snapdragon and lovers of Mediatek. The competition is healthy.
