dafemlions:Boss I was refused, I think it's because of my Waec grade as earlier stated, I got a 3.48 in my OND that's 0.02 short of a distinction so it can't be because of my OND, I hope they even considered it although they asked for it. Anyways here's what they sent me, I need your advice Letter on behalf of : Cégep Vanier College 821, avenue Sainte-Croix, Saint-Laurent QC H4L 3X9 Telephone: 514.744.7500 Notice of Refusal Semester : Fall 2017 Round : 1 Date : January 9, 2017 Dear applicant, Thank you for applying to our College. The Admission Selection Committee has received your application and cannot grant you admission to the 420.AA, Computer Science Technology: Administrative Data Processing program. The reason for this refusal is: Inadequate school grades for this program. Although you meet the Ministère's general admission requirements, your grades are too low to be admitted to this program, in this college. If you wish, you also have the opportunity to submit a new choice of college and/or of program for the Fall 2017 semester. Please consult the Online table of available programs on http://sram-international.omnivox.ca and inform SRAM of your new choice as soon as possible, by e-mail at refus-international@sram.qc.ca. | Re: Studying In US And Canada Faq's by dafemlions(op): 12:55am On Jan 20, 2017 |
HarkymTheOracle:The only school that comes to mind when it comes to giving full scholarship through SAT is Berea College. They have a no-tuition promise and you can read more about it in the link below: https://www.berea.edu/admissions/tuition-promise/ You may also want to check out these schools. I just stumbled on this online. it may also be helpful: http://www.thebestschools.org/magazine/tuition-free-colleges/ |

Good afternoon @defamlions. Please am currently searching for affordable schools in Canada that do admit 2.2holders for an MSc program (Public relations or international relations /1yr course) .But a friend of mine told me that it's gonna be hard since its 2.2,and that I should try College(PGD)Please I need your advice because am planning of starting by September .If college is advisable, please I need names of colleges that do assist international students in terms of finance. |
| Re: Studying In US And Canada Faq's by dafemlions(op): 3:53pm On Jan 30, 2017 |
judithidoghogm:Hello Judith, I am not sure there is PGD in US and Canada. When you hear about college in the US or Canada, they usually award 1 year diploma and Associate degrees which is equivalent to our OND in Nigeria. Some colleges also award 4 years Bachelors degree for some courses. So if you are going to do a 1 year program, know that it is a diploma course and 2 year courses are Associate degree courses which is equivalent to 2 years OND in Nigeria. I hope this helps. |

Hi Everyone, I am a Nigerian studying Chem Engineering in Canada. For Nigerian Students out here in Canada. I know we are all caught up in this Forex saga now in Nigeria. The other day my Dad was trying to send some pocket money to me and approached his friend living in Calgary to swap CAD for our glorious Naira(NGN) and they used an independent website (www.maloofx.com) To check what the parallel market NGN to CAD rate. Other Black Market rates or Forex rates are there as well collected in Lagos, Abuja & PH Just sharing with my brothers and sisters out there. Stay cool everyone. E go better |

Do u have or know any one who is studying #Agriculture at the post-graduate level in an accredited Higher Education Institution in Nigeria? Here’s an opportunity for you! Apply for the 2017 Short-Term Visiting Scholars Program at Michigan State University under the Feed the Future Nigeria Agricultural Policy Project funded by the USAID Nigeria Mission Deadline: Application documents must be submitted to FTFNAPP@msu.edu by 11:59PM (Nigerian Time) on 23 February 2017. Hi dafemlions or anyone else who can be of assistance. My wife just came into the states last month (rushed it before Trump starts any foolishness), she graduated from the University already and was 1 year into her masters program. She wants to change her career feild as she studied political science while in school but would like to change to a science related field. We have agreed that she should start university again and not bother transferring any credits from her Nigerian university, however, I don't want her to take the GED exam (called TASC in New york) which is basically the equivalence of a secondary school diploma. Does having a senior WAEC report automacally exempt her from taking the GED/TASC exam? According to her, she failed maths in the senior WAEC and had to take NECO instead, will it be a problem? I checked WES' website and I see they are requesting WAEC results and there's no mention of NECO anywhere. Secondly, can anyone fill out the form request at YABA on someone else's behalf or must it be the owner of the actual result which would be my wife in this case? And what is a more realistic time frame for everything to be completed if there are no delays? Thanks |
| Re: Studying In US And Canada Faq's by dafemlions(op): 8:09pm On Feb 21, 2017 |
YerYer:Hello Yeryer, Your wife does not need to do the GED exam. NECO and WAEC are equivalent so I expect WES to accept. If they do not accept it, I will suggest that you try other US evaluation bodies like AES. AES website address is https://aes-edu.org/website/home/index.cfm As I have always said, it is better for anyone who wants to go to college (University) to follow a community college route because it is cheaper. She can complete her 2 years and then go to the University to complete the last two years. That will be the cheapest option. I think you should be able to apply on her behalf at YABA also. As regards a realistic time frame, that will depend on when WAEC or NECO sends the results for evaluation. The evaluation organizations in the US do not waste time. Once they get the results and you have filled all the necessary forms and make the payments, it shouldn't take time. The only issue that could prolong the process of the verification process which I think could be done online is if you buy the scratch card(if the evaluation organization accepts scratch card). However, if the evaluation organization decides to send the results back to YABA for verification, it could make the process longer because of Naija factor. I hope this helps. Regards |

dafemlions:hello brother.please I have interest in USA for masters but due to GRE ,I v changed my mind.let's say I apply to Canada for masters with a good ielts score and a cgpa of 4.49,do you think I stand for funding?also,is GRE a must for Canadian schools?your input I'll be helpful. |
| Re: Studying In US And Canada Faq's by dafemlions(op): 1:01am On Mar 20, 2017 |
chaiks:Hello, To be candid with you, your chances in getting to Canada without GRE is very slim and I will tell you why. Over the years, there are many students from China and Indian studying in North America (USA and Canada). As a result, they have an established record in virtually all the programs/department that an average Chinese or Indian will do well when admitted. However, relative to China and India, Nigerian students are few in North America. I want you to also note that there are many Chinese and Indian students with your kind of mindset that do not want to do the GRE. As a result, they will also be competing with you for the same spot where you are applying. So when the admission committee see all these applications, with comparable academic record, they will certainly be willing to admit Chinese and Indian students before looking at your application at all. However, when you do the GRE, it gives all applicants the same chance of being admitted. This is why I do encourage Nigerians to take the GRE. If you are willing to do the GRE, you can send an email to gre.nigeria@yahoo.com and the preparatory materials can be shared with you via the dropbox. In addition to this, USA schools have more funding (Scholarships) relative to their Canadian School counterparts. I hops this helps. Regards |
