I will leave the golf out because it has aluminum plate at the bottom of the engine which is prone to damage on bumpy roads. Also I heard some of them are plagued by electrical issues. I have driven the EOD a couple of times and I didn't enjoy it. The ride wasn't smooth (my opinion though). Anyway like someone said above, go with a specialist and scanner. Test drive those cars and get the feeling.

Thanks for your input. I have heard of electrical issue with Golf 5. Though I don't know if Golf 4 also have similar problem.

When the cost of maintaining a car becomes so high, I consider it a liability. I have done
some research before concluding on any of these 3 cars.

Probably one of the reason it's wise to check the car with a specialist mech before buying. Scanning will also be beneficial.

Forums are meant for discussion. Google search result is meant to point the searcher
to a website managed by people. The experience of someone driving those cars in Europe
and USA with better roads will not be the same experience with Nigeria roads.

You don't expect me to take advice for such cars from those in USA and Europe knowing
fully well that our environment is different.

By the way, Google is not a human being. The answers Google provide you in search engine
results where provided by human beings and not Google. Nairaland is a good platform to hear
from those with first hand experience of these cars.

Most important advice.. Any car u wanna buy.. Go with a specialist mech and a scanner.. U must scan that car.. I repeat.. U must scan that car.. If it throws a code.. Query the code it threw.. To know what u are or could possibly deal with...

you go with a car scanner.. Or go with someone that has one.. Cos.. The car may have hidden problems but you may not know.. So.. The scanner would reveal underlying problems..
