Nobody is perfect, the fact that you had a carry over does not mean you aren't brilliant, just keep being focused.

When I was in school there was no grade I didn't have from A-F, but that didn't stop me from graduating with a smooth result.

Like i use to tell people, it is better you have C/O than a D or E(so long your C/O is not always constant) because it's another opportunity for you to do better.

Just try and be active in the course i.e ask questions when you should, and make constructive contribution in that class, the lecturer will be interested in you, trust me! I wish you the very best.

Having a C/O is not the end of the world bro. What matters is that you pick up yourself and do better. Another advice, a high rate of carryovers are seen in courses people least expect to fail, so even if the course is so easy put in your best.

I will rather get an E than have a carryover.

Nawa for you ooo.......
E na 0 points.....
But with C/O you can get B or C which is 4 or 3.......
Think again, which will help your CGPA....
Re: Help I Just Had My First Carryover by Nobody: 7:41pm On Feb 21, 2017
That's the feeling.

Having carry over doesn't mean you're a failure.

It means, you've another chance to do better.

Peace Up, Read me, Jack more. Goodluck.

I had this general misconception of the whole thing until I was chatting with a senior lecturer and he explained it to me in black and white. Let's say you did 10 courses and got f in one of them and in the end your CGPA for 100 level is 3.56.
You carry over the course to 200 level and probably got a B in it. When the time for your CGPA calculation reaches mind you I don't mean GPA, your whole credit unit for all the courses are added together. the credit load of that 100 level course you had an F in will still be added with a value of 0, plus your 200 level courses where you later got a B in it. you will get to see that the course is added twice with one having a value of 0 and the other having the value of whatever grade you got in rewriting the course, divided by the total credit load. the result is a reduction in cgpa than if the course was left with a zero.

You must be feeling really bad.

Sorry about that, but its not the end of the road, just try doing better, and make sure you follow the course up.

Good luck.

Having an F is not the end of your studies, your interest now should be on how many A your can get to cover up the losses from the F.

I had 5carryover in my 100level first semester and 2 in the second semester. I had all those carryover because I had no interest. My brother, I cleared those carryover so you surely can too.

I have a question...let's say someone didn't register any of their courses for a semester... Do they get carry overs in so the courses they failed to register. If yes does it still stand as a seating for that exam and will it still be divided by 2 when calculating their CGPA?
Re: Help I Just Had My First Carryover by KnowledgeIsPawa: 11:19am On Mar 20, 2022
You must have an answer to your question by now but because it is here. Let me answer for the benefit of any other interested party. No. an unregistered course is not entered as a carry-over. But it will obviously increase your work load in the following semesters or session as you must still take it ,especially if it is a compulsory course, meaning that you cannot graduate without doing it. So you must register and take it at a point in the course of your program, else you have an extra year. If it is not a compulsory course, you must register and another course taken at that level to satisfy your minimum number of units, which is also the same as saying that you cannot graduate, if your minimum number of units is not satisfied for that semester. In summary, an unregistered course does not factor into your GPA or CGPA but it is a debt you must pay, after which the result will be factored in.
