Pidgin is a testament how intelligent our ancestors were. Before slavery, Pidgin being a creole language means white people also spoke fluent Pidgin then with our ancestors!!. Before slavery,, when we traded in gold and commodities with white people, all the business happened in Pidgin. So, you'll have European merchants speaking fluent Pidgin with a mixure of Yoruba or Igbo or Bini or Ewe, e.t.c depending on the country they went to purchase goods. It was already established and is still in coastal towns in Ghana, Gambia, Togo, Benin republic, Nigeria, Sierra-Leone. If slavery didn't happen, if you were to travel to Britain or France, you would have met white people speaking fluent Pidgin with you. In fact, if slavery didn't happen our official languages across Africa would have been Pidgin and our native languages. If slavery didn't happen, white people would also have been studying Pidgin in school, because they'll naturally need it to communicate Africans.

xaxaxaxax, It is not a shame. We just need to observe and study the tricks. english is a dead language as all the european languages. they were all invented or created dead. The reason why I said it is not a shame is because all european languages, chinese, japanese, hebrew, coptic etc were all created from Ancient African languages.

When We learn the intricasies of Our Father and Mother's Tongue and fully understand every word, tones, speech to the atomic level, You would be able to have a matured conversation with any Black Person anywhere as long as they know their own Languages well too.

Our Ancestors never jumped trees. They were more civilized than the filthy culture of today. They were super intelligent people. All those mud house you see all across Africa were later and in truth a nomadic life-style because of constant migration due to wars, weather/climate disasters; and for other scientific reasons. Your Ancestors are great beyond your imagination. They created speech, sounds, languages , culture etc- NOBODY ELSE CAN EVER DO THAT!

So if there was no english language, after you finish learning housa, you will go and learn yoruba, anyday you want to travel to south africa or any foreign country, you will spent atleast 1 year to learn the language of that country and so on, also imagine as we have this platform, (nairaland) you are typing in igbo and another is typing in house and yoruba, how do you think there wouldnt be a bridge in communication?

Stop trying so hard to be wiser than your masters, a general language that makes it easier to communicate globally is a sinequanon. If an african country was opportuned to be the colonial master or country, they inturn would have enforced their language on their subjects, but nature did not permit them, instead, they were busy jumping with monkeys in the bush, and when you ask them, they will say that civilisation started in africa, i tend to wonder what has stopped them from getting more civilised even with the exit of the colonial masters.

That is actually the correct pronunciation (pelease kind of). Although the letter e there is inverted. Ghanaians pronounce better than we do here in Nigeria if you know how words are transcribed.

Most kenyans can understand other africans when they speak English. Even francophones and lusophones who speak English are well understood. We are completely lost however when Nigerians switch to pidgin and its strange vocabulary and syntax. I can't get the gist of the discussion when y'all switch to pidgin. Nothing at all.
As for accents, Zambians/ Zimbabweans take my fancy, i just get entertained listening to them speak, very melodious.
