THE MAJOR problem is their CULTURE which they propagated for a long time under the guise of religion. Is Alamajiri an islamic practice? It is their archaic culture sanctified under Islamic religion. Is begging islamic norm? yet every begger uses Islam as cover and even Imams preach to justify it. Is western education anti Islam? even the richest saudis and conservative Iranians are all educated in Harvard, yet our brothers behave like madrasah and other islamic schools are just the only thing about getting educated. They refused t go with the tides of the time. Fashola started with Islamic high school but graduated from western education. Culture or pretext and hypocrisy. You dnt want to educate the girl child and give them off in early marriage to the benefit of you that had the western education and you hide it under religion. You dont want to empower the youths because they are ok with the morning kunu that you share to them and take praises becasue as the religion teaches, we came vain and we go vain, so no need to struggle. And all you say is Amin and laugh in your mind. You sit on a mat with them in the msque and leave in your posh car. There has been a big hollow between the upper class and the lower class. The middle class has been exterminated and there is no longer any connecting force. That is what is called extreme poverty and impoverishment. And this is the difference that made the Eastern Nigerians the richest in the aggregate in Nigeria . The north is where you will still see people buying brand new cars in this recession, yet they are the poorest. Of curse average lagosian drives tokumbo no matter how rich. The earlier they think about this, the better fr them BeeBeeOoh: 6 Likes |

It's all due to cultural differences. In the South, education is valued more. Many parents would not even allow their sons and daughters marry without having been to university first. Nigeria's literacy rate is currently at 60% and I recently learned that 50% of children in the NW and NE are out of school. While I'm not against religious education, it alone will not make you an engineer or doctor and it doesn't contribute to human development. Then again this is what you get when you don't live in a secular state or under a government that cares about education. Look at Libya, a predominantly Muslim country with 94% literacy rate. So, yes it can be done, if politicians stop being corrupt and Nigeria move towards a more tolerant secular society. But nothing is unlikely to change if people's mentality remains the same. 3 Likes |

The bolded is a big fat lie. Arabs and Muslims in general have contributed nothing to modern civilization or science. Even if they have, it is largely inconsequential. Aristotle , Isaac Newton , Robert Boyle, Albert Einstein, Archimedes, Marie Curie, Galileo Galilei, Michael Faraday, Nikola Telsa etc, which of the above was an Arab or Muslim? oluamid: 3 Likes |

Average person is an lslamic extremist which is their rally point to do and get anything from Nigeria. If you want to get them use religion. 1 Like |

oluamid: It was not Arab Scholars; that is an alternate poison created by european colonialists for African minds. It was African Scholars who had adopted Arab language and Islamic religion to transmit African Knowledge during the Moorish Occupation of Europe(Moor, Maure, Moore means Black). That is how Spain & Portugal, european countries closest to Africa (not close to Arabia), became powerful enough to share the World for themselves. http://www.allempires.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=36429 "These African Muslims literally civilized the wild tribes from the Caucus who had ran rampant throughout Western Europe after being pushed into this region by the invading Huns. These wild warring Caucasian tribes did not establish any civilization to pick up after they brought down the Western Roman Empire. As a result of there being little to no intellectual stimulation in Europe the continent fell into the Dark Ages until the 8th century C.E. when the Moors arrived into Europe from Africa. The European "Renaissance" was only possible through this African Muslim cultural domination for 700 years in which highly advanced and civilized cultures (based largely on the recollection of the advanced knowledge from ancient Kemet or "Egypt" that the Greeks stole/plagiarized and Westerners blatantly ignore the fact that they did just to attribute those contributions to a late Indo-European people) permeated throughout Western Europe via what was Muslim controlled Spain. A society will always be poor as long as you keep on astronomical number of children you can not cater for.,.....even in Lagos there is a northerner I know that has about 8 kids plus him and his wife they about 10. He man is just average cannot be classified as rich come on my he has opened door for poverty in his life 1 Like |

With all the executive powers, juicy positions and looting yet northerners are "not" economically. People without skills to manage their family are managing over 180m people. |

The northerners will never reduce their population because they use is the large population during elections.....but poverty resulting in malnutrition, disabilities, diseases starvation will force them to reduce their population .. ,,......,,then they born plenty for election purposes starvation and poverty will eventually teach the way to family planning clinic 1 Like |

Their leaders definitely their major problem they practically worship them. The North has hardworking people farmers civil servants etc. Poverty creates a vicious cycle. Their interpretation of religious teachings Any system that gives people a sense of entitlement will eventually destroy them(power in the North, oil in the Niger Delta, Omo Oniles in the south) 2 Likes |

They hinder them from solid western edu, they send their children out of those region to school. If u see the best, eloquent and fluent northern individual with his right senses, check them well they school either outside the region or children of the rich who attended the best school in d north.... May God Almighty open their eyes to see that those wealthy men they want to die for do not have their love at heart, they only have the love we have for our chicken, which is to use them to acquire more wealth |
