AdonaiRoofing:my brother let me tell you what you should know about xenophobia in S A they are just using that words "foreigners commiting crimes " as a cover up for their own criminal tendencies, i.e looting of foreigners shops and nothing else they have that strong urge to steal from you and their govt have no other option than to twist the story in other to redeem their image they don't target Nigerians in particular just that they go on looting spree as if it's their right .. . |

fufuNegusi:Did Nigerians go after Ghanaians and kill them during that period? These South Africans have so much hate in their hearts, and their brains have corroded from Apartheid they were subjected to |

I didn't blame SA at all. if Nigeria govt had responded with a true giant of Africa they claimed to be when this incidence firstly occurred, I believe the SA govt would ve sit up on top of the uncivilized attack this xenophobic attack shows SA aren't civilized. if we have a good leaders who put their citizen interest first before Thiers, we wouldn't have been where we are today. Nigeria govt needs to buckle up to protect their citizen in&out of the country mostly from this uncivilized and uneducated SA |

We Forgot so soon.. Nigeria is more Xenophobic than South Africa. Where did the word "GHANA MUST GO" emanate from or the word xenophobia was not in the dictionary then. Its Karma paying us back our own coin. Nigerians in South Africa please come back home. Lets build our motherland together |

slurryeye:Oh yes, Nigerians went after Ghanaians and killed them during Ghana must Go. Do you remember "Scatter"? Nigerians would invade the living places of Ghanaians and scatter them, burning their belongings and looting and killing them. Oh yes, we remember, Nigerians are very capable of worse. Many Ghanaians died by the hands of Nigerians so though I don't condone the behaviour of these stupid South Africans it sometimes annoy me to hear Nigerians come here and scream Xenophobia when in fact they are not any different from these South Africans. |

Obasanjo led this destroyed country for eleven and half years. He led this destroyed country more than anybody else. He embezzled more than enough money for himself and his children. The sixteen years failure of pdp is on obasanjo head. If nigeria was a good country nigerians would not be going senselessly looking for greener opportunities abroad where there is none. |

| Re: Obasanjo Blames South African Government For Xenophobic Attacks by Ironi: 10:09pm On Mar 01, 2017 |
pauljumbo:That is true. I remember very well, their businesses and properties were not seized. That is not true. They were given time to leave and many sold their businesses, sometimes cheap. Others sold their properties too and others looked for trust worthy Ghanaians to look after their properties for them. My mother was a custodian of one of such properties for an elderly Nigerian, Alhaji Kano. He later came back and lived in the same house with us till he passed. To this day his children and grandchildren live in the house. Not a single soul was taken of any foreigner in Ghana at the time. We are too peaceful and human for such killings. Nigerians on the other hand, "scattered" looted, burned and killed many Ghanaians during "Ghana must Go". We know that. |

TPAND:Not true, Ghanaians kicked foreigners out first, way back before Nigeria's "Ghana must Go". You see, after Ghana's independence, Ghana was the place to be for Africans and they came to Ghana in their numbers. Ghana was generous because Nkrumah linked the liberation of all colonized states with the independence of Ghana. .Ghana dished out money and trained many Africans in various ways to expedite the liberation of their countries, so there were many foreigners living in Ghana. Then Nkrumah was kicked out and later Dr. Abrefa Busia became the Prime Minister. That is when he issued the order for foreigners to leave because he felt the foreigners invasion was too much. So it was later that Nigeria also passed the same order for foreigners to leave. You know, I have no problem when a country decides it has too many unwanted foreigners and have to send some away but this should never call for attacking and killing of these foreigners |

Ironi:Can you shed more light on this "Scatter". You are the first and the only person that I have ever heard from that Nigerians kill Ghanaians during the Ghana must go expulsion. Though I was too young to have a clue of what transpired then, but from what I have read and first hand account of the period, no one ever said there was Xenophobia against Ghanaians. As a matter of fact, I had Ghanaians as classmates in my secondary school, and we argued about things including the Ghana must go expulsion, and none of them ever claim that they heard or their parents told them that Nigerians committed Xenophobia against Ghanaians Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Nigerians were all nice to Ghanaians during that period, all what I'm saying is that Nigerians didn't go after Ghanaians and kill them the way South Africans are doing to other citizens now. Could there have been some Nigerians that looted and vengefully attacked Ghanaians that offended them? Possibly but xenophobia I doubt. Just like no Nigerian can claim that Ghana committed Xenophobia against them when Kofi Abrefa Busia mass deported half a million Nigerians in 1971 |

Rollsnjaguar:You don't take actions that will result in tit for tat responses that may spiral. There are other ways of achieving same results with less drama. Nigeria is not as toothless as she appears. She can bite. Usually behind the scenes. Look at how they retrieved the seized arms for cash proceeds by proxy. Let's stay strong and unpredictable. No hissy fits. |
