Recruiting firms charge some percentage on your first salary if they source and interview you for the client.

I paid 50% of my first salary to the firm that sourced and interviewed me for my present job, I didn't feel cheated though cos I started the job half way into the month.

Job is hard to come by these days.

Trust me, it isn't only a portion of your first salary. You may also unknowingly have a percentage taken from your monthly pay depending on the contract between the client and consulting firm. Most times, you'd be paid through the consulting firm by the client so deductions are made before you get your pay and since you were not directly employed by the client, you won't be privy to what the consulting firm is collecting. Some take as much as 50%. This would usually be the case of you are outsourced but if the consulting firm only acts a hiring consultants then it is possible that you pay this one off fee. What the percentage?

I know of a couple of consultanting firms that do that. Usually, you would pay for it if the job wasn't advertised and they were the ones who searched for a suitable position for you.

It's totally wrong for you to pay for a job the client advertised. Obviously the client will pay them money for it and also, they would get money from you. That's being sly
