(CNN) - President Donald Trump accused former President Barack Obama of having his "wires tapped" in Trump Tower before the 2016 election.

"Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my 'wires tapped' in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!" Trump said in a tweet Saturday morning.

Trump didn't immediately offer evidence for the claim. CNN has reached out to Obama, but has not heard back.

I bet dude is just desperate to steer media attention away from the recent revelations of contacts made between his top appointees and Russian officials, all of which they initially denied during the congressional screening. Stuff's threatening to unravel his government. cheesy

Obama would probably admit it. On the strength of rumours of collusion with Russia , it was the legal thing to do. They got a court order sef...So no offence.
