Keep posting useless pictures of people and their families, what of your own? Apparently, not everyone will want only male kids some will still want females too so kindly save your megabits.

That doesn't stop the culture from being discriminatory, it's only a horrible culture that will insist on continuing in wickedness. Females don't inherit from their parents, when she marries the husband's brothers will still take over his property if her husband dies and if she has property her last son takes it, what type of rubbish is this?

Of course people like you will enjoy it, but that doesn't make it good

The reason u see so much nonsense comments here is becos, many times Nigeria media house fabricate non-existent story to tarnish the image of a particular person or group of people.
They have been hammering on about the need for igbo to abolish bride price and to allow their daughter inherit ancestral property and every other property. They will print fake news and use every form of media blackmail, thinking that will coerce igbo to do wat they request.
This same people will then hire yoruba language teacher to teach igbo children in Lagos yoruba with intent of erasing their igbo language/indentity and expanding yoruba. (deplete igbo number and expand) They will champion marriage to igbo like their life depend on it based on the same agenda.Yet the whole expansion will be in their tiny southwest. https://www.nairaland.com/3143995/lagos-make-yoruba-language-compulsory https://www.nairaland.com/3654602/lagos-state-employ-more-yoruba
This is the missing link, the population explosion in the southwest would be too much for them to handle, so they want the spillover into the southeast. Mind u the hausafulani are also plotting to spill over into the middlebelt and subsequently the SE/SS and SW, hence the fulani attacks.
At this point, they will abolish the indigene clause, so they can claim ancestral land and even political office in the east. In the north they are having mass wedding, marrying ten and twenty wives, in the south west yoruba want all other tribe to convert to yoruba. The population explosion that will soon follow in the southwest and north, is the reason they want one Nigeria, so they can expand into the south east and overrun our land with their languages.
Systematically, they have plotted to eradicate igbos, but the only problem is we are more clever and have seen them coming and that is y preparation for exit is in full swing. Brexit in the UK was for the same reason, we wont wait until it is too late. We take our land and watch their population explode until they are shitting on-top of each other heads. hahahahahahaha!
I truly feel sorry for you.

Now let me add my own two cent.

No Igbo Culture gives anybody right to claim property that another person bought with their own money, with the exception of ancestral land.

If ur a woman, u are better off going out to buy land elsewhere and not the ancestral land.

My guess here is that she is claiming to have bought ancestral land. That is an abomination.

Her brother is well within his rights to confiscate it. He is well within his right not to ever release the land to her.

Igbo expect their daughter to get married and inherit their husband property and remove eye from their ancestral property in their father place.

Am an Igbo Woman. Your mentality is the reason why I bought lands on my name. What is ancestral land if I may ask. In other words, the land in her home town is ancestral and the one you are advising her to go and buy elsewhere is called what. Well shaaa, I guess the lady doesn't no her right. Try it on feminist and see yourself deported from that UK. Nonsense Igbo Culture.
The father will give her a share when she is going to her husband house and that is it but never land.

Shame on this lying Gift of a girl, You are indeed a compulsive liar that will one day burn in deep hell fire. Don’t you fear GOD? I know you very well and I know this your very honest brother in the UK. I also know all your brothers and sisters and mother as well, so I can confirm that there Is no truth in all you said. Why will you tell such lies and tarnish the good name of your reputable family? I can’t believe you are telling such terrible lies about a man that trained you in all your education including secondary school and through all your university. This Silva has looked after you and all your family members since your father died many years ago. Heyyy!! People, is this how the world has become? Where did you get money to buy land in such high profile area when you were in school? I know when you bought this land for him and you were in school when he gave you money. How can this land now become yours after you get married? Don’t let your husband cause problem in your family and lead you and him to hell fire. I can confirm that this Gift is evil indeed and everything she said are all lies. This your brother gave you all that you have today and started transport business for your husband.

Gift, if you want something from your family, please make peace and be peaceful. Slandering the name of your family and dragging their reputation into the mud will not lead you anywhere. In fact, such actions as your current one, will only bring God’s bitter wrath.

For you Nairaland, please verify the information you publish before making it available to the general public. Ask Gift to show you the receipt of the landed property in question and you will see that she is simply an extremely malicious and inherently blatant in her compulsive lies. I know the family very well and can provide evidence to support my comments.

May GOD help the family find peace. Gift, remember We will all be judged one day for our actions. We reap what we sow in this world.

That's rubbish. She is not inheriting any land, this is a land she bought with her money so that argument does not stand. This is a clear case of greed by the brother, he lives in UK and yet wants to quite an outdated tradition to covet what he did not work for.
The woman and her husband should get an injunction restraining him from coming near her property.
Please make sure she is talking about a land she bought with her money as opposed the money her brother gave to her to buy land. People wickedoo!! - I believe this Gift is trying to take her brother land after she become married.

U better start preparing for a boy, if ur interested in inheritance matter. Let me share with u a secret, 95% of igbo men today between 25 - 35 years get disappointed wen their wife give birth to baby girl as a first child. I know this becos, i am one of dem. The minute u give birth and it is a girl, i am still single and searching. Dont think, it is dated becos it is very much in vogue, the we are modern stuff is all in ur head. Igbo culture is the apex of all Africa culture and Superior. U cannot get more modern than igbo culture, we are leading the rest.

Dont let Afonja deceive u, no such law exist.

More importantly, wat law protects u and ur daughter wen Afonja and Aboki kidnap one, rape and force into marriage/Islam?

That is y we dont value u girls in igboland, ur simply a lower intelligent.

I will specially write a will telling my daughter that i love her with the things eternal but love my sons with everything material.

I have given her the share that belongs to her, love and protection, wat was left, i gave to her on her wedding day.

She got the best of everything and i will always love her. Hence she is not included in my property distribution.

U call us animal but want to inherit animal property. Is it not animal property u people are after?

The animal dont want u to have any of his property, on that matter, his sons are favored.

This is a very stupid tradition . So far she bought the said land with her money there shouldn't be any case here at all.

Thank God Nigerian constitution supersede all this crazy tradition so the woman should just do the needful by defending her interest in the court of law .

How did you arrive at the ridiculous lie that women can't own properties in Saudi Arabia ? And for your information there is no where in their constitution where their women are restricted from driving but its some hardline preachers that are promoting such.

Saudi women own properties and even Muhammad's wife (Adija) was said to be well richer than him and he was even her servant before she decide to marry him.

And FYI , this is not an Igbo forum but a Nigerian so never in your life try to dictate who comment on which thread here again.
