There might be a possibility that there were older religions that died off, but according to documentations hinduism is the oldest known.. And when hinduism started, there were people who didn't follow it, those who subscribed to no faith, these were atheists.

And why are we even having this conversation when your religion claims the earth isn't more than 10,000years old, where in fact, human remains upto 200,000 years old was recently found in Ethiopia.

Sure Dictionaries will give more entries because words can be used in different senses, but by far the majority of dictionaries agree with my definition, when they even mention the "lack of belief" one they nearly always remind their readers that the standard definition is the one I gave, for example :

1) Encyclopedia of Philosophy 2nd ed. (2006), p.358 [in vol. 1 of 10]:

“According to the most usual definition, an atheist is a person who maintains that there is no God, that is, that the sentence ‘God exists’ expresses a false proposition. In contrast, an agnostic maintains that it is not known or cannot be known whether there is a God”

2) Blackwell Dictionary of Western Philosophy (2004), p. 530:

“The belief that God – especially a personal, omniscient, omnipotent, benevolent God – does not exist.”

3) Routledge Encyclopedia of Philosophy (1998), entry by William Rowe:

Actually I agree with them, a christian is someone who believes in Jesus and follows his teachings- what that means is where we disagree.
