"Sponsoring the motion, the Deputy Senate Leader Bala Ibn Na’Allah, told his colleagues that the Customs circular on the matter, dated March 2, was issued without cleared guidelines as to what category of vehicles would be affected. He said implementation of the circular would cause significant discomfort to the teeming law abiding citizens of Nigeria, adding that it was already causing anxiety among Nigerians." I don't understand this senator... how can you be law abiding and won't pay complete dues on your importation ![]() Which kind category again The Head of Custom said all vehicles that has not paid custom dues... Senators should face better things.. or are they the illegal importers![]() |

Nigerians are hungry because of this man, it's not because the policy would be effective, no, it's because both the custom officials and the smugglers will go home heavy. In the end, the leaders, officials and smugglers will become richer while the people will always become poorer. That's the simple truth. |

nextprince:I am not sure you have a vehicle. do you know how much it is to pay for customs duty on cars? in as much as I support his moves, he should forget about the ones already in the country and face the ones coming in the country. Nigeria has so many porous routes that smugglers still use to bring in cars into this country. I think he should focus on that angle. sometime last year the minister of finance talked about government plan to reduce import duty on tokunbo cars. I believe if that is done. smuggling will reduce drastically. and people can actually afford to pay for duties for thier cars. |

BeeBeeOoh:And what is wrong in coming up with policies to check themselves? And when did the present cg take over Nigeria Custom? |

Candyrain:So says the confused wailer who wants the country to run without laws against illicit practices. Besides, I thought you lots claim illicit activities are the exclusive prerogative of the "zombies".

I doubt I could ever take sides with the Senate as a body in any issue involving them and anyone or anything else until they cut down on their salaries and allowances, and MAKE THEIR BUDGET OPEN TO PUBLIC SCRUTINY. |

DrDeji20:Weather I own a car or not is not the issue here. The issue is, illicit activities should be checked regardless of when such might have been perpetrated. That is how it is done in advanced countries you all keep making reference to. Besides, bragging about personal economic status is for hustlers who want to be seen as such. I don't do that, let alone, on social media, a faceless one at that where every poverty stricken brat claims to be richer than Bill Gate. |

adioolayi:My brother, I just taya, especially the emboldened. Law-abiding, yet you don't want to pay complete dues on your importation, nawao! Besides, which teeming Nigeria citizens is he talking about? Those that can't afford tfare from Ajegunle to Mile2 or the few who change cars like boxers and be evading taxes? I'm telling you, most of these top shots don't pay anything in the name of tax for their importation and when a policy seems to be against those practices, they are there shouting "teeming Nigeria citizens". How many average Nigerian can evade Import Duties and get away with it? Make dem go sit down joor, nonsense. |
