Six days have gone now since the broke out of deadly clash between Hausa traders and their Yoruba hosts in Ile-Ife town of Osun state without any northern leader speaking on the matter, even for the sake of averting reprisals in the north.

This culture of silence and timidity being exhibited by leaders in the north was what gave Boko Haram sect the chance to grow feather without anybody making any effort to tame it until after it went out of hand.

Anybody who knows north would tell you that they don't allow provocation on their members to go scot free without any form of retaliation. This made me believe that something must be in the offing amidst this silence.

I appeal to the leaders in the north to as a matter of necessity, goto the media and sympathize with the people who lost their lives and assure northerners living anywhere in Nigeria of your kind commitment to defend their interests before they feel abandoned and take laws into their hands and that's when you will see them running up and down after the damage has already being done.

I choose to write this piece proactively considering the amount of agitation coming from northerners on the social media to this effect.

we are no longer under military rule. They were used to being under the shield of military protection, they get away free with atrocities. Thats why they cant stay and face Yoruba because their strength had always been facilitated by security apparatus. To some extent they still do when these ba3tards call to them for safety. If the police and army had got to the scene first these mofos that died in Ife would be alive, casualty would be on the Yoruba side. This is how they got upper hand in mile 12.

if you don't know ppl have been talking a lot especially on Hausa language media, majority are calling for calm, and d perpetrators brought to justice, while very few, are angry, and calling for reprisals.
