In other countries of the world when a military or para military personnel is summoned by the national assembly it is very appropriate to appear in your uniform. If this Oga is too big to wear uniform then resign and wear whatever u like

There is nothing personal about my reply. I am just saying that I have not come across any Nigerian who says that the Senate represents them. You are an exception, and mentioning that maybe they also represent you and your family is not an insult (its English man)

I agree with you on his scheduled meeting so they should try fixing a convenient day and time but disagree on the dress code.He is the comptroller of custom and should always be on his uniform when on duty.He shouldn't have accepted the post if he was not ready to wear any uniform.If you meet any bank manager wearing a jean and polo during working hours, Am sure it will be your topic of discussion throughout that day .Does the IG of police or chief of army staff wear mufti on duty?

To think that he asked if he was appointed to wear uniform makes one wonder if he was engaged in the military to wear uniform when he was in the military? And asking if it is the uniform that does the work or the man himself, is like suggesting that staff and members of the Customs service should not also wear uniforms since it is not the uniforms that do the work but the men themselves. the custom chief should know that he is working and has a boss. the senate represents the people he is serving. for instance, if at work the MD tells you should meet him at his office at a particular time, will you tell him you have other official matters to attend?
Concerning uniforms, that is the customs official wear, its a paramilitary body not civil service. very soon police chiefs will be wearing agbada to work ,etc.

And the fundamental issue of appointing customs CG from outside customs doesn't pose a challenge to you. Why on earth will Buhari go outside customs for such position? This singular act is anti productive on the part of the DGs and ACs, knowing that your hard work and knowledge of the job may not guarantee your promotion, It huts sincerely.

Is Buhari's reason of bringing in this man is for him to be able to exercise full control of the Customs, then Buhari lacks the technical know-how to manage human capital as a leader.

Fundamentally, Nigeria under Buhari led administration has gone lawless, people do what they like and not what the law provides, because the head is leading the way.

You are simply comparing oranges to apples. The Senate is not the "board of directors" of the NCS. The NCS reports to the Executive through the instrumentality of the Ministry of Finance.

What the senate has is an "oversight" over the affairs of the NCS.

While I agree with you that the CGC has a bit of an air of arrogance about him, the Senate also need to get over themselves and rest this uniform matter because there is no law or regulation that says the man MUST appear before them in uniform.

Also on whether the man can turn down an invitation from the Senate asking for a rescheduling due to prior booked appointment, yes he can. It has happened many times before and the heavens did not fall. Based on hierachy, the only person that can summon the CGC at a moment's notice is the President.

In this situation, something needs to give so that they can have this all important discussion tht bothers on the welfare of Nigerians. The drama has to stop.
