Seriously a born again christain should not even be any type of physician because that is like fixing the creation of God (Man) with earthly knowledge. That is like throwing shades at God, which itself is a sin. I think people should just go to church for healing, checkups and so on.

You know that's funny grin

Handling a human body part for medical treatment is not a sin. So a Doctor can perform in above capacities and remain professional. Nothing amorous will cross his/her mind. Peace!
You really think so? You may be right sir but not absolutely. Thanks.

God bless you!

Just look at how ignorant religious some people are! They've allowed religion to block their sense of reasoning! This isn't how Jesus presents Christianity but some have ignorantly turned it to something else! Sometimes, when I see how some of my fellow Christians reasons or behaves, I feel ashamed of them!

Look at how some of them degraded a trained medical doctor as if there's no professionalism in the field! Chai! some people reasonings get as e be o!

So,,a born again Christian should never allow a male gynaecologist to attend to her, such a one should prefer to die rather than have a male gynaecologist to attend to her, since to her, it's religiously wrong! Na wa o!

Abeg, God bless all our gynaecologist, be it male or female!

God bless you too

To the best of my knowledge , I think you are wrong
Pidgin2:
This is a sensitive topic. As a Christian, my personal opinion remains that it is very wrong for a male believer to be a gynecologist

1) Examining the breast of a woman that is not your wife as a heterosexual male is wrong
2) Examining the private parts of a female that isn't your wife is totally wrong
3) Some male doctors develop feelings for their patients and vice versa
4) Our sight is a gateway to temptation
5) If a woman examines the private parts of a male patient how will he feel, assuming he has a wife, how will she feel?

I can go on but let me stop here, it is wrong and no religion supports it.

There is no mention in the Bible of male doctors assisting women during birth, rather there was mention of midwives assisting Hebrew women to give birth. A male should not be viewing and handling the private parts of another person's wife or daughter under the pretense of medical profession.

one problem i have with religion and and their ridiculous ideas - they have succeeded in putting an inherent assumption of inherent evil on a particular part of the body or organ.

what is so evil about the vagina or penis - nothing.

the vagina or penis is no more evil than any other part of the body but from ludicrous religious dogmas and doctrines these parts of the human anatomy are dubbed intently evil, unclean and sinful - forgetting the same God that they worship allegedly were supposed to also be the creator of these parts of the body.

if any part of the human body is evil the the source from which these organs comes from must be evil too, so if the vagina is evil and you say God created it - then literally you are making God evil.

let us be clear here, no part of the human body is evil in the slightest nature, so unless Op somehow you dub these organs evil in some way and at the same time faulting your God then probably to you it should be wrong for christian man to be a Gyno.

but if you see these organs just as any other part of the body like any sane human should then surely enough there is no reason to condemn dentist and likewise a Gyno.

religious people spend the greater part of their life worrying over imaginary sins that they end up having not lived at all.

My mind came down after seeing this post. you've said it all, this would do.

If a Christian should leave this profession, then who now handles it....the Muslim, atheist or pagans....ur response is subjective and is quite partial...

For his own life and eternity, a xtian should be ready to bear his cross and follow His Lord!

OP, you can make it to heaven only if you consistently watch and pray by asking the Holy Spirit to take control before attending to patients also, watch your motives and listen to your heart cos its what comes out of the heart that will manifest in the open. I know its not going to be easy. May God continue to help all the gynaecologist as they carry out their daily activities in Jesus name.

If Christ live in your heart, you will see every part of body as the same.

It's not his position, he's projecting it as the Christian position, which you can see in the title of the thread.
If he presented it as his position, I wouldn't mind.
But presenting it as the Christian position is what I'm against.
Though I'm no longer a practicing Christian, I have colleagues who are practicing Christians and Pastors and General Overseers of churches and what he is pushing is an insult to them and outright false doctrine and you know this.
That he gets aroused at the sight of any naked female doesn't mean that other Christians are like him.
Well, you got me wrong. My motive is not to insult any Christian rather to caution. You are after protection of their integrity. I am after protecting their eternal security. So I guess I love them more than you profess to do or don't think so? As for advocating a false doctrine, I wonder what is false about encouraging fellow brethren in the medical field to be wary of the possibility of lust and sin. BTW, why are you no longer a practising Christian? Please I want to know.

Let believers be guided by the scriptures as well as by knowledge.

The human brain works in such a way that one activity shuts down one's focus on another.

Notwithstanding, knowledge is no match for emotion.

Therefore, those who naturally are easily beset by sexual temptations should let nature tutor them on drawing the line on this issue.

They shouldn't practice gynaecology.
I think you are making sense sir.

Ok...where does one start....

1.I am a doctor, and also a christian too.

2.I am not a gyanecologist, but as a doctor, I have had to examine hundreds of women in my professional life.

3.Have I been sexually aroused by any of them? No...and I will tell you why

First, most of the women who come to hospital are sick and in pain. And they need help sorting out that pain. And we need to find out what is causing that pain too..

For example, I had a young woman come to me with a Bartholin's cyst. We needed to do a vaginal examination, and eventually to operate on her. Were we comitting sin by doing so?

I have also had a woman come to me with pain in her breast. We examined her...and it turned out to be breast cancer (sadly metastasized, so too late for her). At no time did I have thoughts of s..x in my mind.

I also had to pass a cathether for a seriously ill, HIV positive patient, stage 4, in the ward. That meant looking at her private part (inavoidable) and at no time was I aroused. (Infact, for your info, the private part was seiously diseased. Nothing arousing over there!).

So.....at the end of the day...if we were to follow your doctrine brother....christians would not need to be doctors at all!

Let me repeat myself.....Christians would not need to be doctors at all. Because in your mind...every christian doctor is a sinner.!

Second.... as a Christian, we are TEMPTED every day. I am in my thrities, and I am a virgin (Some people on Nairaland are going to laugh at me...now that I have outed myself haha smiley). Thank God I have kept myself pure. It is God ....because every day, I am TEMPTED. The thing is not to allow the temptation to take over you. King David was punished for sleeping with bathsheba, not for being tempted by her. Joseph too was tempted by Potiphar'swife...but he ran away.

Third....our job as doctors is not to look at beautiful bodies every day, and feed our fantasies. No. Our job is to cure sick people. And let me tell you...that is what is on our mind every day. So...if a woman comes to me complaining of pain in her breast, the thought on my mind is not that I am going to touch some beautiful stuff....but that it better not be that I examine the breast and find cancer there. If a woman comes to me saying she is itching in her private part...the thought in my mind is that it is not something as serious as genital warts....which I have seen in one HIV positive woman...very scary....but that it is something innocous that we can treat.

Brother.....your problem is that you are mixing temptation with actual sin. You think that when you are tempted, you are sinning. No. Better stop worrying about how you are tempted every day. Better go and pray to God to deliver you from temptaiton, and the evil one....and go and do his will. Dont worry about sin too much. God is there to help you.

Modified....One more story

During my student days, when I was doing my O and G posting, one elegant 40 year old woman came into the gynae's office where I and five other students were. She was complaining of constant bleeding from her private part. Minute we students heard that, we just felt...bad. Examination.....she had cancer of the private part. When we left that office....all that was on our mind was "Wow...that woman is in trobule"
OK. Good analysis. But for your information, I know the basic difference between temptation and sin. Lust is not temptation, it is sin. But thank God for you. I pray you keep your head high and never be fall into sin I J N, Amen.

Sorry sir, today's doctors don't see d body(of a woman) as a pieces of meat any more. When they see it,they will want to feel it.Google Dr Felix I. Uwensuyi-Edosomwan,Dr AdekunleWilliams Owolabi,Dr Akinfemi Akingboye. Those are just few examples for you to know that Doctors no longer see patients' body as a “piece of meat". Even our so called men of God/apostles are now on rampage talk more of “ordinary" doctors.
Is that so? People have almost made me feel I was stupid by opening this thread. But I believe this will help our Christian doctors to be more watchful and prayerful. Thanks.

Theres is temptation in almost everything and every profession including medicine.

That doesn't mean you should flee from temptation instead you pray to be delivered from temptation.

A Christian can be a gynaecologist when he upholds his Medical Ethics as well as pray against temptation.

Because my neighbour is a prostitute doesn't mean I should pack out of the house. Instead I'll pray to God to give me strength against temptation and possibly win her to Christ.

Or do you see going to a brothel for envagelism as a sin? You pray against temptation, you go with a partner, likewise O & G.. you pray then you work with a chaperone... Simple

Do you get my point?
Gynaecologists are Christians, pure and undefiled
