Anyway before some people take me into the gutter with them. I've said my piece. As a Christian your number 1 priority is God. Anything that will displease your God, don't do it. Being a gynecologist is between you and God. Ask him

Anyone that quote me henceforth on this thread is on his own.

if the sight of any naked man makes u start thinking of sex, then you have a problem.. i know a few doctors... to them, the human body is just meat.. they are trying to understand that meat.. doctors tend to be more loyal in marriages and fornicate less... its not because they are the ones who sing holy holy more... its because they don't think much of sex cuz to them, the human body is just meat
There is no need sounding holier than thou. We have a body that can be weak at any time. A Christian must watch the kind of profession he/she veers into if eternity means anything to him/her. Thanks.

This is a sensitive topic. As a Christian, my personal opinion remains that it is very wrong for a male believer to be a gynecologist

1) Examining the breast of a woman that is not your wife as a heterosexual male is wrong
2) Examining the private parts of a female that isn't your wife is totally wrong
3) Some male doctors develop feelings for their patients and vice versa
4) Our sight is a gateway to temptation
5) If a woman examines the private parts of a male patient how will he feel, assuming he has a wife, how will she feel?

I can go on but let me stop here, it is wrong and no religions supports it
you and your thoughts are an evidence as to how dangerous the world would be if everyone was religious... think abt it, if every one thinks the way u do and there are women who have issues relating to their vagina...we would all prefer to watch them die from it than spend years in school learning to become a gyno, why? because you think it would be against our religion....human nature and life is in everyway greater than any religion of this world, I don't think you knew that, but never forget that now.

You've talk from experience. I'm going to share my experience with you all.

When I was 15, I went for breast examination. My doctor was a female. And she has a male doctor attach to her. I observed that anytime the female goes out, the other will start examining my breasts. He didn't jump on me. Then I felt something was wrong but I couldn't pinpoint it.

You are still missing the point. You're describing professionalism. You are still talking from the point of work ethics.

I'm talking from the point of spirituality. Just because I saw an unclad male doesn't mean I will have sex with him. It doesn't mean I will jump on him. But will I still think of it? That's where sins comes in. You're describing issues where I won't think about it because the body is going through treatment.

The question still is as a believer who know is God, will my heart not go into fornication if I see a body attractive enough?
That is the point. Thank you.

threads like this are the reasons they mock Christians.. that's how some said that a Christian shouldn't be a soldier etc etc... if not for gynecologists many people wouldn't have been alive today... from my observation of most fundamentalists here on nl, contrary to their claim of being spiritually minded, many Christians are carnally minded.. they claim to be spiritually minded but they don't understand the meaning... many hinduists and Buddhists are more spiritually minded than many so-called Christians.... A big thumbs up to the few Christians of nowadays who are indeed spiritually minded.. i salute you
We are talking about avoiding lust and the consequences, you are more concerned with what unbelivers think. Is it unbelievers that will enjoy heaven for you or God forbid suffer eternally in hell on your behalf? Please, stop the sentiments. You are judging those who say it not safe for a genuinely born again Christian to engage in a profession that clearly has an appearance of evil as being hypocritical and those who say it doesn't matter as the genuine ones! How sincere you are indeed!

I am not a doc but an engineer by profession. The doc you spoke about would have waited for his colleagues so something was wrong. He may be guilty or may just be an amateur. Temptation is not sin,Christ was tempted but he did not sin instead he rebuked the devil Matt 4. Every profession come with temptations. The power of the Holy Spirit is there to strength us to resist temptation. Avoiding occasions of sin does not mean not living. Should Christians not be doctors, lecturers, bankers, politicians, business men, lawyers, judges,Engineers, nurses, scientists, actors, musicians, even pastors because we want to avoid occasions of sin? Even in your room, without seeing any naked male/female you can have sexu..al urge. This urge is inbuilt in man,it was our Creator who put it there. Having it is not a sin, where sin comes is dwelling on it(not resisting) and carrying out the fornication.
As we grow spiritually and in maturity we have more power to resist even the most beautiful body. That's another reason why God kept the beautiful institution of marriage so that we will not be consumed by passion.

They are not exactly the same sir. In the case of sexual sin, you do not need to commit the actual act to be guilty (Matthew 5:27-30). There are professions that are dangerous to the spiritual and eternal welfare of a Christian and I think being a practising gynaecologist is one of them.

I'm not a Sir but a Ma. Thank you.

contrary to what you may think, you guys are actually the one with the holier than thou attitude.... you talk as if there is a profession where one is not tempted with sin.. someone gave the instance of working in a bank... won't you be tempted to steal money? temptations will come.. someone's inability to resist it doesn't mean everyone will fall for it.. its people who are carnally minded that carry these things on their head a lot.. someone who has no urge for money won't think of stealing.. so also the case of a gynecologist.. except the doctor is a quack who never went to school or a serious perv, every normal doctor who has studied the human body won't be moved by seeing people naked.. cuz all they see is meat and bone.. nothing more... nothing less

I beg to disagree sir. Training or education does not remove the adamic nature. Only sanctification through Christ's atoning blood can avail after salvation. Even after sanctification, one needs to abstain from all appearances of evil (1st Thessalonians 5:22). Granted, every profession has its peculiar temptation but seeing the unclothedness and touching the sensitive organs of the opposite sex predisposed one to the sin of adultery (even when one did not commit the actual act (Matthew 5:27-30). That is the basic difference. Thank you.

You're also worth breaking my promises over. Agreed that everyone will faces temptation at one point or the other. James 2:26 says
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Faith is believing in God but working out your faith is doing things that pleases God. As human being we should know our limit. We should know when to flee from sin.

I'll give you an instance, you know you always have the urge of taking things that's not of yours. As a born again Christian, You belong to a cooperative society and they are looking for someone to be holding the money, will you raise up your hands? Working out your faiths is you not raising up your hands.

As I said, I'm only addressing this to the people who know their God.

you're not getting my point... you claim its only in Christ that adamic nature bla bla is defeated... i gave you the instance of Buddhists and hinduists.. that instance was not talking about gynecology alone but all professions in general.. i listed those two religions because they emphasize and seemingly practice more spirituality than many christians.. meaning they value the spiritual and to them(at least the whole hearted adherants of the religion), human body is just dust.. nothing more.. that's why you hardly hear of Buddhist monks who are pervs... in fact, I've not heard of any.. but Christianity and Islam have their share of sexual crimes... even more than eastern religions.. and the no true Scotsman fallacy would be introduced when a Christian falls.. coming to gynecology, doctors, regardless of their religion whatsoever understand the human body to be just complex, intelligently designed meat regardless of the part of the body in question.. a doctor would feel no different touching the human eye than touching the reproductive organs... because that's what they are... reproductive organs.. its only perverted minds that lust over every “meat" they see... also, people who are spiritually minded would only see the human body as dust.. bunch of cells.. tissues.. meat.. they don't lust over stuffs like that... their main focus is on the “spirit"(I'm talking in a general sense)

Yeh dear I understand what you mean. No all are strong enough to resist. Then in that case it's an individual thing. I for one knows my weakness and will flee from anything that will challenge me on that level.

My born again Christian male gynecologist who stood by me through thick and thin ,infertility, miscarriages and pregnancy and yes he did many examination and treatment through the parts you called unholy not for fun but because they are needed for procreation. And procreation is the work of God. Did I mention that he prays over his cases. Yes,he has now been made a consultant and I'm so proud of him. How many female gynecologist do we even have? When did society even allow women to start aiming high? If not for the males who veered into that career early enough more women will die in pregnancy and childbirth. I have been treated by females(thrice) and they are not even better. I remember during my postpartum issues,it was the female who left me and went home not minding that I was bleeding. Whereas I thought she would have been more compassionate. God bless all responsible gynecologist(male & female). You are a gift to mankind. And if you are a Christian ,better.

Bless you!

Thank God you are a woman so you will still talk from experience,I just did. And it goes both ways because many female nurse touch male organs. When a man wan do surgery na babes dey shave their pricks.
I'm not a man but I know that most gynecological examination are not pleasurable. Majority of them are even very painful. Sensitive exams are done in the presence of females nurses/doc or male assistant most times. And not only gynecology exposes body parts, even in surgery the patients go naked. So Christian males should not be surgeons, sonographers, lab scientist(they do v-swap),nurses etc because in all these professions they see female sensitive body parts. Will you rather be examined by an unbeliever male than a believer. The Holy Spirit in a man gives self control. An atheist can have self induce control takeless of a Christian. You are talking about breast examinations;do you know that all doctors are trained to do breast exams? And Surgeons and Oncologist(cancer doc) do more breast exams than gynecologist? So Christian males should not be doctors?
If only Theists will start to employ their thinking faculty in this manner. Kudos ma
