Chisom Egbuchulam came in as an 86th minute sub in his first game for Hacken in Sweden. His team lost 3:1. |

Don't forget how hostile these Arabs can be even to fellow Arabs. I read on supersport.com.ng that the fans attacked our boys when they got to Sudan and they were threatening fire and brimstone. Now think of what such condition can do to a players confidence when he knows he ain't safe should they win. And to the ref's confidence too Thank God Hayatou who was leaking their (North african) smelly ass has been ousted, and I hope Ahmad addresses this issue ASAP. I'm a staunch Rangers fan but I hope rivers file a case against AL merrick on the treatment meted on them. |

Icon4s:Results like this do not necessarily represent a good measure of talents abound in a league. I will take France as a case study. I can't remember the last time a French club won the champions league or even the Europa league. Nevertheless products from that league dominate European football. Even a forgotten man like Payet came to England and swept everyone away. Again, I will use the example of Eupen in Belgium. A team which can be described as the weeping boys of Belgium. Throughout the seaon they have been loosing left, right, Centre but a lot of people still clamour for the inclusion of a player in such a team Henry Onyekuru. As a person, I don't think it makes sense to argue that about 700+ players registered by the LMC this season,we can't find 2 or 3 who can make super eagles team in a friendly against Senegal and Burkina Faso. I remember back in 2002, a team of home based players were assembly by Eguavoun to play a much better Senegalese team than the ones we face next week, coming after the high at the Korea world cup. The bunch of home bases players out played the Senegalese in Dakar. If I recall, it was Temple Moneke or Lucky Idaho who scored from about 45 yards. Remember, this Senegalese side was packed with the likes of fadiga, Diouf. Diao and Aliou Cisse. Fifteen years later, not even one single home based player will make the team to play Senegal in a friendly game. That can't be right. Even the Burkina Faso team we will play against are rolling in with some of their home based players from reports. Are there better talented players in Burkina faso than in Nigeria? Let's call a spade a spade. Rohr didn't do well to ignore the Npfl players like he did. |

goldfish80:1. Eupen are not the weeping boys of the Belgian league. They comfortably survived relegation through the exploits of Onyekuru. Onyekuru's influence was critical and that is why he is getting rave reviews. 2. We have to be honest about the quality of our league, if this was under 20 or under 17, no problem, the exposure will help young players move ahead with their careers. Players who play at that standard outside Nigeria will not be given a call-up. We do not even call North African talents. 3. Nigeria has more talents outside the country than Burkina faso, so competition is stiffer for places. 4. We should not apply sentiments in selection because they are home-based. |

tbaba1234:Eupen may have survived the drop but it doesn't mean they were are a great team. The Eupen team I watched a couple of times this season were as rubbish a team as they come. The quality of our league have been improving. If the LMC can find their bearing on logistics it will be much better. Was it not Barcelona who got a player straight out of our league. Can you imagine? We rely on Europeans to do our scouting for us. What does that tell you? I watched Enyimba vs Mfm last week on TV. A certain. Enyimba player scored a peach of a goal. A much better goal than the celebrated strike by Olatumbosun. The way he turned and took the shot on a volley with a bicycle kick would have had this thread go nuts if Henry onyekuru scored that in Belgium. Do you really think we don't have more Etebors in this league? You've got to be kidding me. |

goldfish80:Barcelona B plays in the Third tier of spanish football... That is probably worse than league 1 in England.. Biko, apart from the name Barca, Ezekiel Bassey is not playing at a high level at the moment. Was Ekpolo not in Barca B? Is he not now in league 2? There is talent in the league but they do not last or slowly depreciate because of the standard that they are playing. If our league players can not do well in CHAN and in the African Champions league, we have to doubt the quality to compete at the international level where there are much better players. As regards good goals, watch the indian, malaysian and indonesian league, you will see great goals. It does not mean the players can cut it at a higher level. |

ChrisKels:Pls can u compare polish league of late 90s to early 2000s to present Bosnia or Cyprus league. Olisadebe single-handedly took Poland to world cup and was one of d best striker in Europe then with great review all over d world. Pls check polish league then and u w understand what am saying that they are far ahead of present Bosnia or Cyprus league. Pls name a reputable club in Bosnia or Cyprus |

tbaba1234:So we should continue to wait for Europeans to come down and scout for talents in our league while we sit fingers crossed, pray and wait till they blow before we invite them to the national team. Dont you see the folly in this line of thought? The league in Spain is so structured that teams tin the top tier are allowed to have their 2nd team participate in the lowest division. Instead of having an U23 league like they do in England. I can recall Arsene Wenger a few years ago suggested to the FA to adopt this to the benefit of young players who often are sent on loan to clubs in the lower leagues where they meet a culture shock and a total different style of football to their parent clubs. Having this system in place will eliminate this problem of adaptation of players which could turn their development anti clockwise. Lots of talented players have been lost to this English loan system as they have it. Barcelona B were playing in the 2nd division Spain before they were demoted. Their players are entitled to make match day squad of the main Barca team. Where do you think Sergio Robeto and the likes came from? When was the last time a French team did well in the Champions league and Europa league? Don't players from that league move for multi million pounds every transfer window. Football is much more than just results. Even if our home based payers win Chan, you will still grudge if Rohr invites a couple. It's already an established mindset. Dont hide under chan to throw shots. |

| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Nobody: 10:25pm On Mar 18, 2017 |
goldfish80:Barca B is still playing at a lower level same as Real Madrid Castilla. The structure in Spain is the same as in Holland and Portugal. Porto has Porto B, Ajax has Jong Ajax. Many of their players never make it to the top flight. Our own Derik Osede is now in league 1 after playing for Real madrid Castilla. If i see a clearly outstanding talent in the league, I will come here to advocate for the player. I was in Nigeria a couple of years ago and watched many league games. I can not say, i was blown away by the quality. Chisom Egbuchulam, who was Nigeria's best player last year could only secure a loan deal in Sweden. That is not to say there are not players that could possibly make the super eagles squad but they are few. After all, Kante was picked from lower divisions. There are always diamonds in the rough, let them play CHAN and show themselves. I started actively following the Nigerian league in the early 1990s and followed several teams through those years. I am not an enemy of the league but at this time, we have better players outside. |

tbaba1234:I keep on mentioning Bosnia and Cyprus coz of Super Eagles players like Musa muhammed(Bosnia)and Shehu Abdullahi(Cyprus)such league w not aid their development compare to their counterparts in Belgian or Dutch league not to talk of EPL,La liga,Bundesliga,Portuguese league. I'm of opinion that it is better to look inward than inviting player from such league so that it w discouraged our talented players from going into such league. Honestly i rate Musa Mohammed and Shehu Abdullahi very high. |
