Exodus 3:14
God said to Moses, “I Am That I Am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: I Am sent me to you”

The name “I Am that I Am” was derived from the Hebrew word ehyeh aser ehyeh which when literally means "I will be what I will be." It is one of the numerous names by which Yahweh was known.

Quite a good number of people have misinterpreted this name to mean what it isn’t, here are some mysteries behind the name.

1. It was an identity (Deut 32:39)

When God told Moses that you shall call me “I Am That I Am”, He was directly telling Moses of His identity as the uncreated creator of the whole universe. The phrase “I Am” is always used to declare existence and when God said my name is “I Am That I Am” he was saying I exist to continue to exist or I will be What I will be.

Although it is true that God’s source has been a mystery but His existence is surely real. The reason why we cannot understand where God comes from is just because He is God. The day Men understand the secret of God, they seize to be men and they end of even defying the natural laws of life. Enoch, Moses, and Elijah all had something in common; They knew the "I Am" beyond human knowledge.


2. It was a promise (Isa 43:2-3)

The name “I am” was a promise to Moses and all that will come to believe in the one true God. This was a promise of a long lasting relationship that will exist between the creator and the created. It was a promise of companionship.

To the orphans, God promised to be a Father, to the Widows, a husband, to the lonely, a friend, to the sinner, a savior, to the whole world, a judge and to humans, a lover.

The I Am statements of Jesus revealed these promises in plain words . I Am the living water, bread of life, gate, the shepherd, and the lamb.

The I Am is all you need in all aspects of your life. It was a blank Cheque given to you and you have the power to fill it with what you wish. God is all that you think He is.

I am that I am,in other words,I am what I am,if God says He's what He is,it simply means He doesn't change,He doesn't get better or worse,doesn't improve or drop in values,thinking,standards....He doesn't develop,evolve,increase or decrease in knowledge....He is same God yesterday,today and will tomorrow not be different.
