Once Again, Who Is the Owner of your Church?

Not too long ago, a certain man started a church and it grew through the financial and material donations of members. The Church even acquired a tertiary school and businesses.
Suddenly the man died. There was an argument about who takes over leadership of the church. There was an array of high ranking elders and priests, but non of them took over. The church was taken over by the wife of the man who started the church. She also took over the School and businesses. The argument was simple; it was her family 'business' legally.

The majority of new generation churches in Nigeria are owned by their Founders. If they die, their families can literarily convert every building of the church to warehouses or cinema halls. The members have no say despite the fact that their contributions bought the properties.

So how was it in the early Christian church with the Apostles? Read the following ;

"All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need." (Acts 2:44-45)
"And all the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own (not even the church building) but they shared everything they had… From time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles' feet and it was distributed to anyone as he had need." (Acts 4:32-35)

To be sure that you own the church where you worship and make donations, demand to see the Certificate of Incorporation of your Church. If it doesn't read "Owned by All Members..." but instead has the name of your Daddy G.O, you may be farming in another man's vineyard for free.

I have seen the Certificate of my Church. Everything belongs to my Daddy G. O and his wife!

most churches are like business organizations where many people having shares in..

other ones are sole proprietorship with one man managing the funds of many people while reaping the profits alone..

pls Christians should not comment here. the Op is interested in Church than spiritual life forgetting that this will bring another bashing
