Should Ndidi Replace Mikel In Super Eagles Midfield?

Having enjoyed series of brilliant performances in the colours of reigning Premier League champions, Leicester City, Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi is gradually proving his worth in England.

Despite joining the team during the winter transfer from Genk in the Belgian league in a deal worth £17 million, the former youth international has endear himself into the heart of most Foxes fans, who are still struggling to cope with the departure of N'Golo Kante to Chelsea.

His superlative display against Sevilla in the Champions League has made some football pundits and analysts raise eyebrow on the Nigerian international, which has been compared to Kante.

With two Champions League and seven Premier League games on his belt, his presence in the team is gradually yielding effect in the team. In place of Kante’s Energizer bunny scurrying came Ndidi’s long-limbed contortionism; concerned, as was his predecessor, simply with winning the ball and laying it off to the more expansive ball players.

Besides, since joining the Foxes this winter, he has developed so quickly, making an impressive tackles, shielding the defence frequently, releasing passes in earnest and gradually developing the habit of scoring goals when the opportunity comes. After switching from central defence to central midfield at the beginning of last season, Ndidi became the Belgian outfit's most important player with his ability to cover ground and break up opposition moves in the engine room.

There is the problem, naturally we have comfort zones and Rohr comfort zone is German / Dutch football. This is where his experiential competencies rest, his abilities as a coach are not in doubt.

However, he is like an expert fishermen who only knows river Ethiope and refuses to fish in the wider Atlantic ocean where there is much more fish.

His limited knowledge of English football is a handicap.

Finally he contradicts himself if he had his finger on the button he would know Osimhen has not played a competitive game in a long time and is injured. So why on earth invite him to camphuh. Doesn't make sense. Are there no other optionshuh

The EPL is superior to the Bundusliga in my opinion the lower half of the Bundesliga is on par with the Championship.

Consider the Francophone African countries where do the bulk of thier players learn thier trade and develop fromhuh
Osimhen impressed Rohr in Camp and after Osimhen got declared fit, it is right to give him a chance during the friendly games. Rohr is not willing to risk the qualifiers to try players. As for his limitation, it might also be he is aligned to the German coaching system. They are easily suited to the Philosophy he intends to pass to his players.

Rohr needs time to blend. He can not satisfy all our needs in a short time. He is few games in.

Interesting article but Mikel does not play a deep defensive midfield role for the Super Eagles. He mostly had Onazi behind him in most of the games. If Ndidi is to replace a player, it is Onazi. We still have Etebo who can play an advanced midfield role and I will pick him over Ndidi. We also have Aluko.

Ndidi will keep playing a defensive midfield role.

Oga calm down, I have never called for a completely young team, remember that I always remind u guys the need for experience in our team. No team has won the world cup with a team younger than 25 years on average. I am not saying we should drop anybody, i am saying the best is yet to come.

Akwuegbu: How Nigeria lost David Alaba to Austria

https://mtnfootball.com/bp_images/2017/03/npoodoa2efns1cgychlakra1c_150x150.jpg

Legendary Nigerian striker Benedict Akwuegbu has revealed how the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) lost David Alaba to the Austrian Football Association.

Bayern Munich star Alaba, whose father is a Nigerian and of Filipino mother, is an Austria international, who has been representing the European country since 2007 starting with the Under-17 side.

Akwuegbu has urged the NFF to cap Nigeria-born winger Kevin Arase, who is an Austria youth international, before they lose him like Alaba.

“Kelvin Arase is a fantastic player, I told the NFF about him two years ago when he was playing for the Austrian U17 team," Akwuegbu told allnigeriasoccer.com.

“That is how we lost David Alaba to Austria, I told the NFF about him but they were slow to make a move for him before he was capped by Austria.

“They should engage some ex-internationals to talk to these players. The NFF need us, we can’t be overlooked."

The 18-year-old Arase, who is currently on the books of Rapid Vienna, is part of the Austria Under-19 side participating in the 2018 UEFA U19 Championship qualifiers.

Injured Sunderland star Anichebe to return in April

https://mtnfootball.com/bp_images/2017/03/xn701dmnbd091p9r0fs748u0o_150x150.jpg

Nigeria international Victor Anichebe is expected to return to action for English Premier League (EPL) club Sunderland next month.

Sunderland manager David Moyes has provided an update on the striker, who has been out nursing his injury since January 2017.

“We’ve sent Victor to work with a specialist in America and he should be back shortly – this weekend (18-19 March) or next weekend I think, ” Moyes told the club's official website.

“He’s running and he’s back on it so we felt that sending him to someone who can work one-on-one with him constantly [was the best option], and it looks like it’s working.

“My aim was to get him back for as much of April as I can, and I can’t guarantee that at the moment but we’re doing everything we can.”

The 28-year-old bulky forward netted three goals in 11 league appearances before sustaining an injury two months ago.

@CalvinEmeka Thoughts after First Training session

What I loved watching the Super Eagles today in training was the camaraderie. Banter and serious work. Youngsters were reminded of their age, experienced ones like Onazi were always quick to remind Iheanacho and Iwobi that they were kids so they start in the middle. Another thing that impressed me was the technical qualities. All seemed so comfortable on the ball. This is key at this level. I have watched a lot of our squads in the past where I have wondered how some got their call ups. These kids here r special and the Coach knows what he is doing. No needless "cooper tests" for boys who are already deep into their seasons n fit. I was especially happy to see John Ogu in the Eagles shirt again even if it is only in training. He's worked hard to get back. Seeing Musa and Iheanacho smiling and laughing despite not many club appearances lately was also heartwarming. As usual when I see them in training it hits me how young they are and the expectations of a nation upon them. Not easy at all.

Bazee seems too shy. I hope he's a different animal on the pitch.

Ebuehi appears a confident young man. Onazi seems to take special interest in his case.

Not surprised with Kayode's move. He normally dances like a willow when he scores.

Issaac Success, proper Naija boy.
Onazi seems to be the social prefect of the group.

Thanks to tbaba1234 for brightening us up with these mind bubbling pictures.

But y is it that pictures taken abroad are usually clearer and more colorful than the ones taken in naija,?

Any photo experts in the house?
Question: What do you see in the picture?

Factors

-Time of the day pictures are taken.
-In that part of the world, as you move away from the equator the angle of light from the sun changes. This results in milder look. Where there is high intensity of white light colour contrast changes.
-The air is cleaner. Skins are fresher. In less stressful environments skin condition improves.
-Temperature, humidity also play a role in the quality of the pictures.
-Blues skies and on a bright day will produce the best pictures.
-Landscaping. Lush green grass. This is why Nigerian cities needs to improve its general implementation of landscape design, planting of trees, parks etc
-Neat environment. The brain is used to processing homogeneity and patterns. A properly arranged environment will immediately speak to the brain.
-The type of camera used to take the picture is a factor.
-Architectural design of the buildings in the picture also play a role.

You may be right about the goalies and for defenders in other parts of the world. But for West Africa most of our defenders peak just shortly after their mid 20s.

Eg how old was Taye Taiwo when he was discarded?
How old Is Ambrose that we have discarded him already. What of Obaobona? What if Oshaniwa?
U and I know Echiejile has passed his peak. Omeruo at 23/24 seems to be on a declining curve.

Joseph Yobo peak when he was at Everton. He was in his mid 20s then. U and I know how we managed him in the national team for the last 3 or so years of his career.

I just gave examples of our recent defenders who are still seeing and can relate with.

If I go way back to Chidi Odiah and Babayaro.
U know Celestine peaked when he was at Chelsea. How old was he then. He was there between when he was 19 and 27yrs.Recall the greater part of his last 2 seasons there were spent on the bench. Taiwo took over from him when he(celestine) was 27. Odiah peaked while he was at CSKA and also the 2006 AFCON he was 25/26 then.

I can still go on way back. But let me stop here for now.

Talking about strikers. Most West African strikers peak between 21 and 25.

Taiwo took over from him when he(celestine) was 27. Odiah peaked while he was at CSKA and also the 2006 AFCON he was 25/26 then.

I can still go on way back. But let me stop here for now.
Let's us not go into the real ages of some players.
