The statement is coming from the minister of state for education, Prof Anthony Anwuka, a professor of education and a former vice chancellor of a university. Interesting how the media spins these reports around making it sound like this is coming from the president himself.

To be frank, a CGPA of 0.5 is too bad. I am not sure if such as student will graduate in the next 10 years because of the huge number of carryovers...So, i think they can help save the parents or sponsors money by evicting such student. The painful thing about this is that the parents may not be aware of their child's performance before and even after expulsion. They just assume that their ward is in school, doing great and will continue sending school fee even when the student has been expelled. I actually noticed this while I was an undergraduate.
