Amazing you also rate Henry Onyedimma highly.... smiley

I have my eyes on that lad... he is real quality.

and @bolded... just beautiful... exactly what I stand for too as regards our Foreign-borns and foreign-breds

komekn:
English football is influenced unfairly by non football variables to a large extent. Protectionism means players can be protected from better players taking thier position.

Most club football recruitment directors are looking for the best players with the best deal for themselves not necessarily the club. Which takes priority the best deal or the best player is open to debate.

However, this means that there are quality players who have been overlooked or side stepped to make way for thier preferred players. This is an opportunity to get players before they become big news.

I have watched Onyedinma it's quite surprising he is still playing for League 1 Millwall. He started playing first team at 17 in the championship.

Onyedinma was being pursued by Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool when he was 16. Somehow politics has taken over. Unlike Tyrone this guy can cope with any kind of physicality Cameroon will throw at us. But needs to be capped asap I predict a premiership club will be making moves for him soon. This guy is considerably better than Lookman.

It's for the Nigeria official to be proactive in getting those players who are very good quality but not recognised and or unfairly treated. In a sense thier loss our gain, we should be discovering them before they are discovered by the big English clubs.

Rohr mentioned that he had received reports from the indigenous coaches who have been tasked to monitor the local scene. He is coming with the specific agenda to look at players shortlisted by the local coaches.

Sometimes, in the professional game, you have only one shot to impress. If an Arsenal scout for instance comes to watch a game in Nigeria and a player fails to impress, he will not be considered even if he just had a bad game. If a club is monitoring a player for two years,

1. He caught the eye with a first good impression.
2. A decision was then made to keep close tabs on him.

However, this is not the case here. Rohr already has reviews of the player and wants to have a closer look.
You don't sign a player because he just had a good first impression. He could be having a field day against a weak opposition. Why players should be watched over a long period is to evaluate the player comprehensively, his character, mentality and reaction to certain situations.
You may want to watch a player to see his reaction when his team goes a goal down or even 2 goals down. Does he drop his head? Does he stand on his feet and fight on? Other variables like punctuality to training, social life and family orientation are looked at and evaluated.

We are way past first impressions with Odeh.

The decision to continue monitoring is often based on a good first impression not the decision to sign. Odey has drawn attention to himself by his goals.

Rohr's visit is part of monitoring him. He will also have CHAN to continuing impressing. His chance will come if he keeps it up.

Exclusive – List Of More England Youth Internationals On The Verge Of Switching To Nigeria

https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/image-60.jpg

Following the successful capture of Chuba Akpom, Ola Aina, Ebere Eze and Josh Maja, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has set it’s sight on snaring more players from the English youth set up eligible for Nigeria at senior level.

Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal that five Anglo Nigerian players have been approached by the NFF, with discussions set to be at an advanced stage.

Millwall’s highly rated midfielder Fred Onyedinma has given his words to officials of the NFF about his commitment to the Super Eagles and only missed training with the team due to Club engagement as he played in his team 0-1 loss to Swindon on Saturday.

On loan Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham was not involved in the training session as the Bristol City man was with the English U-20 side, and he is also one of those who have given his words to the NFF about making a decision on his senior international future in the summer, but his father’s close ties with Amaju Pinnick the president of the NFF could work in Nigeria’s favour.

Everton’s Ademola Lookman is yet to decide on his international future, but a staff of the NFF revealed to Owngoalnigeria.com that Lookman will most likely switch to Nigeria after the European U-21 tournament later in the year.

Also on the NFF list is Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Dominic Iorfa Jnr who met with coach Gernot Rohr during his visit to see Carl Ikeme, and gave his words to the German coach of the Nigerian team that he will team up with Nigeria in the summer.

20 year old Charlton Athletic midfielder Joe Aribo who moved to the League one side from Staines Town in 2015 has also had contact with the NFF, and Owngoalnigeria.com can report that he has made himself available if called up by the handlers of the Nigerian team.

Kayode Excited To Train With Super Eagles Stars Iheanacho, Iwobi & Ndidi

https://allnigeriasoccer.com/football_pics/78853Kayode.png

Kayode Olanrewaju was excited after training with the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi and Wilfred Ndidi for the first time in his career, and hopes to continue his good form to attract the Super Eagles coaches ahead of the African Cup of Nations qualifier versus South Africa.

The Austria Vienna frontman made his long-awaited debut for the Super Eagles in their international friendly against Senegal last week at the Hive Stadium, when he came off the bench in the 74th minute.

“I want to use this opportunity to thank God Almighty for making it possible for me to be part of the Super Eagles team.., ” Kayode said in a social media post.

“Want to thank my teammates for their wonderful gestures towards me and thanks to my family and friends, also to my wonderful fans for there great support...will continue to do my best...#Lk8.”

Kayode first played for the Golden Eaglets before he was promoted to the Flying Eagles and was part of the squad at Colombia 2011 and Turkey 2013.

He returned to Austria on Tuesday ahead of Austria Vienna’s Bundesliga match against Admira on April 1.

Rohr Urges NFF To Clear Chelsea Star From FIFA – We Need Ola Aina For South Africa, Cameroon Game

https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/image-64.jpg

The coach of the Nigeria senior national team has asked the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to do the needful for Chelsea Ola Aina to be ready to make his debut for Nigeria later in the year.

Nigeria will take on South Africa in June in the AFCON 2019 qualifiers, before playing back to back games against Cameroon when the World Cup 2018 qualifiers resumes in September, and Rohr is hoping Aina would have been cleared before the games.

”Aina is the one name Rohr is keen on adding to his squad for the upcoming conpetative games of the Super Eagles. He has asked the NFF to get the all clear from FIFA before the games against South Africa and Cameroon.

”The fact that Aina has represented England at various youth levels means FIFA has to clear him before his senior debut for Nigeria. The NFF will act as demanded by the coach”, a chieftain of the NFF told Owngoalnigeria.com.

”Hopefully he will be in the next set of players who will be invited for the South Africa and Cameroon game. That is our aim for now, we pray FIFA expedite decision on his case”.

Father Reveals – Wolves Coach Punishing Iorfa Jnr For Meeting With Eagles Coach Gernot Rohr

https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/image-101.jpg

The father of Wolverhampton Anglo-Nigerian defender Dominic Iorfa insists his son is being punished for opting to represent Nigeria instead of England where he was born.

Iorfa jnr has played for England at various youth levels, and even trained with the senior team when they were short in defence ahead of their Euro 2016 qualifiers tie against San Marino.

Rated as one of the best defensive prospects in the English youth ranks, his father Dominic Iorfa senior who played for Nigeria at senior level says his son's decision to pledge his international future to Nigeria cost him his place at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

”I have decided that my son will play for Nigeria and he met with Gernot Rohr when the coach came to see Carl Ikeme, and coach of Wolves Paul Lambert is unhappy over the fact that he has opted for Nigeria ahead of England.

”That is the reason why he is no longer a regular at the club, but that won’t make him neither will I change my mind about my son representing Nigeria at senior level, no going back once he turns 23″, Iorfa told Owngoalnigeria.com.

Rohr shouldn't be looking at first impressions anymore. This guy is the most inform Nigerian striker this calendar year and you're talking about first impressions? First impressions come into play if you're scouting an amateur player or an unknown element. Stephen Odeh is neither an amateur nor unknown. He's at the level where he deserves to be invited an the coach take a look at him close up,that is why a lot of us were clamouring for his inclusion to the London party.
If you say we should be looking at CHAN, the question is why dont you invite him to boost his confidence ahead of CHAN? Inviting him over for these friendlies is another way of preparing for CHAN.

This is expected. Am not surprised. I foresee England putting up a tight policy on player recruitment into English academies targeted to disadvantage African born youngsters.
Laurent Blanc made a racial biased comment about African/Arabian born players recruitment into French soccer academies. He made the comment on the back of African born players (especially Algerians) opting to represent their country of origin.

That is why this policy of recruiting foreign born players may not be sustainable on the long run, because we are subject to other countries policies affecting us directly. We are not in control of our own fate. The future of our football is at home. Period

True.... in the longest of runs, the future of our football lies at home.

I am even afraid England may someday go as far as making these youngsters (when they are still preteens or early teens) sign binding documents with the "you must turn out for England" line inserted thus blocking us from coming for them or may just decide not to take in much Blacks into their academies anymore.

But shaa oooo.... there will always be exceptions to whatever rules or policies they may cook up as these English clubs also wanna own the next big talents in football..... but we can't just rely on the policy of recruiting foreign-borns/breds of Nigerian blood majorly.

We need to also make our home grown talents discovery systems stronger and more structured.

But for now, let us capture these ones while we can.... besides... football is business and if England decides not to recruit blacks of Nigerian heritage or African heritage anymore, it will haunt them because they will surely miss out on several of the next hottest names in football for the coming generations.

Odey maintains scoring form as MFM reclaims top spot

https://cdn.gdn.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/A-Odey-Back-30032017.jpg

Everything he touches turns to goal, Stephen Odey is on a roll. The young MFM Football Club’s hot shot yesterday led the Fidelis Ilechukwu-tutorecd team to the top of the Nigerian Professional Football league with his 13th goal of the campaign.
MFM and Plateau United have been on a seesaw battle for the leadership of league and Plateau United’s draw with Rivers United yesterday ensured that the Lagos-based side retuned to the summit off a 2-1 defeat of Abia Warriors at the Agege Stadium yesterday.
It took Odey only four minutes into the game to find the net when he latched onto Sikiru Olatunbosun’s quick free-kick to beat Abia Warriors’ goalkeeper. Olatunbosun added to MFM’s lead on the 31st minute off a brilliant free-kick. The first half ended 2-0 in favour of the home team.
Abia Warriors came forcefully into the game on the second half and were rewarded in the 84th minute when Sunday Adetunji beat Egbe Ospino to ensure a tense end to the encounter.
MFM’s are now on 30 points from 16 games. Plateau United forced Rivers United to a 0-0 draw to drop tom the second position on 29 points. Elsewhere, Shooting Stars of Ibadan defeated El Kanemi Warriors 1-0 at the Lekan Salami Stadium with Merenini Junior’s 47th minute goal securing then three points for the Oluyole Warriors, but defending champions, Enugu Rangers’ poor run continued as they were forced to a 1-1 draw by Remo Stars at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.
Rangers opened scores in the 14th minute through Daniel Etor, but Remo equalised in the 50th minute through Ekene Awazie. At the Sani Abacha Stadium, Nasarawa United held Kano Pillars to a 1-1 draw, although the Sai Masu Gida opened scores in the 29th minute through Mubarak Said. Adamu Hassan, a former Pillars’ stalwart equalised for Nasarawa United in the 58th minute, while in Bauchi, Wikki Tourists grabbed a late goal through Victor Alegbe to beat Enyimba 1-0.
In other matches, FC IfeanyiUbah defeated visiting Niger Tornadoes 1-0, embattled Sunshine Stars beat Katsina United 2-0, while ABS were forced to a 1-1 draw at home by Gombe United.

Anything is possible with the English. If they can sign to opt out of the European Union, they can sign anything or introduce any policy to protect themselves. Blacklisting black or foreign born players from getting into their academies could be in the offing.
Imagine the senerio in Qatar 2022, when we win the world cup with about 7- 8 English born players and England crashed out in the second round. The outrage and people loosing their jobs will force a look into the policy of accommodating foreign born players into their academies.
They might even petition FifA to force countries who benefit from their academy to pay ridiculous developmental fees for training their players. A policy I actually subscribe to.

ONAZI: NIGERIA WILL MAINTAIN MOMENTUM IN WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS

https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2017/03/onazi580.jpg
Ogenyi Onazi
Nigeria international Ogenyi Onazi has stated that the Super Eagles are determined to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.

The Super Eagles qualified for the last World Cup which was hosted by Brazil in 2014, but they failed to reach the 2017 AFCON finals in Gabon.

Trabzonspor midfielder Onazi was part of the recent Nigeria camp in London, England where they drew 1-1 with Senegal in an international friendly game.

“I am always delighted anytime I look at the faces of everyone in camp. The determination is real and infectious," Onazi told TheNFF.com.

"It is a young and focused group; we all want to qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2018 and the next Africa Cup of Nations.

“We are happy that the NFF President is here and spoken very well, and we want to assure Nigerians that we will keep up the momentum in the World Cup qualifying race and at the same time go all out for the Cup of Nations ticket.”

The 2019 AFCON qualifiers will start in June 2017, while the 2018 World Cup qualifiers will continue two months later.

Why are top clubs outside Nigeria looking outside the NPFL for talents? We see academy players signing for big teams but NPFL players sign for clubs in Finland and the likes?

What is responsible for the recent poor performances in Africa even with a better organized league? Why are we still having the mandatory home win phenomenon? Are top young talents trying to go abroad before even playing in the league?

Until we lift our league to a high standard where top clubs can sign talents from the league and be sure of their quality, we will still have to depend on foreign based talents for our national team. That is just a fact.

Nigerian born anywhere are Nigerians and should be given opportunities as long as the ability is there.

I have been watching the blatant racist, vitriolic, cuastic and scathing criticism being directed towards Zaha. A guy essentially rejected and ridiculed by England for changing allegiance to Cote d'Ivoire.

All I can say to those who do not know and think we have it easy here, welcome to England.

With Wolves I am not shocked by that behaviour, they consider playing for England brings value to the club monetary and otherwise. So as long as money deh to chop for your head you are OK.

Last year I talked to one of the decision makers at Wolves let's call him BB and he refused to sign my player. Essentially because his words, "He will stop our England internationals from progressing"

So sometimes if you are very good and nobody go chop money for your head for that club , your road is blocked by the gatekeepers.

As Center half I rate Iorfa not as a RWB, his technical proficiency and skill level are not high enough for that position. Considering Wolves are not a very good footbaling side.

The problem arises when they have been picked at youth level for England. My dream for Nigeria is to pick five unknown, over looked and discriminated against Nigeria Origin players that will play England in a friendly and wipe the floor with them. angry

The policy is sustainable 100% if we do our homework before they do. It may almost require settings up a Diaspora quasi U15, 16,17,18 team

Nigerian born anywhere are Nigerians and shown be given opportunities as long as the ability is there.
U can't always be the type of person that sees a flower growing on top of a rock and tries to uproot it. Etebo came from this same league that u are bashing and even at that, where does he play? This tells u that top clubs are sometimes blind and do miss can't miss talents. Nigeria has never been good in continental football, at best we have been average, that has to do with preperations and stuff not the players fault. There is no such thing as a mandatory home win, we all saw Akwa United draw Ifeanyi Ubah on sunday and then we had 4 draws yesterday.

Bros, Dele reminds me of Gabriel Agbolahor (remember him?). He used to be the flavor of the season in the EPL....so much that he even rejected Nigeria's call up. But where is he now?

Trust me, as soon as Mauricio Pochettino moves on to Barca next season, Dele would have a major dip in form then England would forget and write him off like they always do. Mark my words!

I have to say that I believe Dele Alli will rake in many caps for England as even right now, He stands heads and shoulders above all English Midfielders in the CM and AM roles... #fact...

England may discover another gem in five years or three but for now... Dele is irreplaceable for England...

Basco, what's the result of their Champions Cup game against Zamalek? I knew they lost the first leg 4-1 in Egypt, but I didn't hear anything about the result of the second leg.
