I call bullshit.

A policeman telling you this does not make it a legitimate piece of news. Is the policeman not human? Or you think he can't lie because he is in uniform. Now everyone in Nigeria know that when it comes to lying, policemen take a close second, only behind politicians.

In my hood, some policemen do come around to drink shepe and smoke SK with us -- during the course of this interaction, we are always regaled by tidbits of information from the cops. Some are true, some are not.

So, unless the Rivers state police command comes out to issue a statement to this effect, I call bullshit.
The police can only enforce existing laws and cannot make them.

So the Rivers State Police command has nothing to clarify. If the Rivers State house of Representatives makes tatoo an illegal art, only then can the police act on that to enforce it, and it will still be thrown out as unconstitutional in the first litigation it gets in court.

The police is manned and peopled by great illiterates who aren't even aware of the limits of their powers, and they make scapegoats and take advantage of the greater number of citizens in the country who are academic illiterates unaware of their rights and liberties.

honestly, I am not comfortable with such decision of the police in Port Harcourt, I am mindful not to even call it a law because I am not sure if there is such law in the constitution... Another thing is that, why can't they inform the public about this decision, apart from the police man, I haven't heard from any other source that such decision has been taken... So it means they will take many persons unawares... embarassed

Honestly, i hate tattoes

I wish the police will just arrest and jail all of Them

Can you imagine!

Must we copy all sorts of rubbish from America? angry

Thank you for the pointer -- I wasn't clear enough in my earlier comment.

It is not unusual for our police force to adopt extra-judicial means in their efforts against crime; I was trying to point out that no one should fret until Rivers state police commands makes a statement to back up OP's claims. if that were to happen, I am sure legal luminaries will point them in the way that they should go and also contest such a measure in court.

So until that happens, all Op is saying is bullshit and should not be entertained for a second.

Soldiers to arrest tattooed guys!
Re: People With Tattoos Will Be Arrested In Port Harcourt by Uteghe(m): 10:18pm On Apr 05, 2017
This is a welcome development.
From my observation, tattoo wearing folks are either violent sociopaths or criminals. Tonto Dikeh that pulled a fun at ex Hubby's aides wears tatoo. Few weeks ago,a tatoo wearing ''big boy'' was incriminated in the murder of an Imo born US soldier. Recently,a tattooed boy killed a Jumia dispatch rider.
One wonders why people in a religious society like Nigeria will deface their bodies with tattoos when the Bible expressly condemns it.
I SUPPORT TATTOO BAN.

About 5years ago, there was a 'supposed' ban on flip flops(dunlop slippers) and Mo'hawk hairstyle in Enugu.
I almost got arrested for rocking my Afro.

I don't blame them though, i blame my forefathers for refusing to go with Kinta kinte to europe for slavery during the 17/18th century.

Imagine me being a Slave in my country. #spits

Do we accept drug abuse and Igbo smoking because most criminals you know don't do weed? While most criminals may not have tattoos,a tattooed person is a criminal in waiting because tattoos has demons attached to it.

I won't doubt this story cos police in Rivers have found a new hustle in the renewed anti korkor (anti cultism) fight. If you look suspicious in appearance especially based on dressing, tattoos, dreads, tattered wears, low waist, etc, bruh, you're a high target. I have heard stories of arrests and settlements twice this week. One even said he almost escaped with his cuffed hands because the officer told to watch them goofed as the rest went to look for more peeps to arrest. He was betrayed by a man who saw him where he ran to hide. An argument ensued as the rest officers were mad at the one asked to watch because they could have lost the handcuffs and have explanations to make. The guy, whose dad is a retired police officer was finally released after the uncle settled them with 5k. The other guy was complaining about his incessant harassment in the place I ate this afternoon where some mopols also came to eat. I retorted that those guys are on their own hustle this recession. Lol
The idea is that you must part with something whether you are innocent or not. They will threaten to take you to the station where you'll be bailed from 30-50k, accusing and calling you different criminal names. Pray, no tattoo is found in you at the station because that's what they will use to confirm you as a cultist. From stories, once you get to the station or criminal division, they'll segregate the arrestees based on whether they have tattoos or not. Thereafter they'll will conscript some already detained guys to come and confirm you which they'll gladly do. My bruh, if you'll ever come out your peeps will have to cough the region of 100s thousand naira. So my bruh, be very mindful and careful this season.

With reference to this thread https://www.nairaland.com/3724333/tattooed-lady-paid-n10000-soldiers about a lady that was almost arrested because of tattoo, I stay in Port Harcourt and about two weeks ago a particular Police man of the Abuloma division told me that very soon , arrest will be made on anyone with a tattoo in Port Harcourt reason being that most of the criminals that have been apprehended had tattoos on them...

Although within me I was sceptical and critical about the implementation of such arrest but I had nothing to worry about since I wasn't even a fan of tattoos...

Many folks in Port Harcourt may not be aware of this new development, thats why I am informing folks on Nairaland , especially those that reside in Port Harcourt to confirm that folks with tattoos will be arrested according to the Police officer of Abuloma division that I spoke with...

Mods ... This could save another person from unnecessary arrest...
Corrupt politicians dey wear tattoo WIKE DEY WEAR TATTOO and this negro(Wike) Is more Criminal than any other Criminal. Abeg make them leave rice Make him dry water.
