enugu, that village. Whether you think i am a doctor or not is not my problem. Go to any hospital in the UK OR US and you will see what i am talking about.
I find it interesting when Nigeria is compared to US or UK.

Ok.

Compare the police
Compare the army
Compare the schools
Compare the housing schemes
Compare the Senate
Compare thier governors
Compare the power situation

In short compare anything you like don't restrict it to hospitals alone.

Do you get the point?

Ps check this village hospital out. The Pioneer neurosurgical unit ....

National hospital Abuja does neurosurgeries and also UNTH Enugu.
I'm talking of d ones I know oo.
UBTH,OAUTH Ife,UCH Ibadan etc will probably be doing that too.
the thing is that the average neurosurgeon has spent 10-14 years doing residency and part of that time is spent abroad maybe a year, now the things they learnt there, most will never be done in nigeria without available facilities, i know because i know 3 neurosurgeons in lagos personally, if you want to see what a neurosurgeon can do when 100% of his potential is being utilised, watch grey's anatomy to get a glimpse, they perform less than half of these in nigeria i tell you. That is what i meant

if they dont have the facilities, let them close up. and stop decieving people..
if they close up, the masses will end up dying by the thousands, when doctors or nurses strike, it is bad enough not to talk of if government hospitals close down. The healthare team has no option but to manage what they after and the ones they cant do, refer to a higher centre or abroad. For you to suggest what u said shows ignorance and wickedness on your part,

What was said was an innocent truth. The fact that you're a doctor doesn't rid me of my understanding.I am not addressing nursing as a profession but rather the larger percentage of NIGERIAN NURSES.I am sure if you're sincere, you will understand the information. However, you may be one of those doctors who have been hypnotized by their Nurse Wives/ Husbands/boyfriends/girlfriends.If you want to know better, ask an average patient in the hospital.Stay by the truth and let the truth set you free.Peace be upon you, me and all other professionals who are committed to their duties.
i am a woman so no one is hypnotizing me, the issue with nursing is that it is a profession filled with 99% women and mothers who have other thing to think off than work. So there is no one per say who is ready to fight for them again and again and again. I tell you to respect them because they do this job because they care, no uncaring soul will clean the excretement of a sick person. It is also very wrong to disresect a profession u know nothing about. If nurses fight with doctors, it is between us and none of your business and i wont forget to add that nigerian patients are one of the most fustrating people on earth and can bring out the monster in anyone. I speak from experience

there's no wickedness in. my own part. I just lost a loved one.. he went on head surgery. but it wasn't successful. he died the next day.. after all we spent. the surgical drugs we bought, amounting to 100k, and the deposit.. and you think I will be happy with Nigerian doctors

we couldn't fly him to abroad, cos it's an emergency case

i am very sorry for your loss, i am sure the doctors did all they could, every surgery is a risk even something as simple as hernia repair can go wrong. Take heart

And how many days off do u get after doing night duty?

As a doctor in a federal teaching hospital, i do 7days call after which I am expecting to return to work by 7:30am the next morning as if nothing happened.

Shut your silly mouth.

All you nurses can do is badmouth doctors.

Very lazy, temperamental, arrogant set of human beings.

E dey pain you because 99% of you wanted to read medicine but you were too dumb and didn't reach the cut off marks in jamb.

Throughout your school of nursing days you flirt and try to seduce medical students and doctors, some even try to rope them into marrying u by trying to get pregnant. Useless fu**ing sluts.

Go back to the ward and do what u r being paid for and stop spilling sewage from that smelly orifice you call a mouth.
I promised, myself am gonna reply ya,when am off my,and immediately my ban gets lifted....you are one of those noisy, arrogant, doctors around, that's if you are not a quack... nonsense, what's the hype about, medicine and surgery, when most of you,got forced into the jobs,by your parents, if,some of the nurses wanted med surge by all means, they would have gotten it, by the way,it's now all about the money, and not what you've gat upstairs, so flush that shitty crap, outta ur head. and who get to flirt, with those, dirty, stingy doctors,, mtcheew.... and as a nurse,in a federal hospital, an Orthopedic hospital at that..i report for morning, duty as early as,7 a.m as well.and yes am one of those radical, nurses, who takes no shit, from proud, empty doctors,I don't go on ward round, with, quack docs, like ya..

Which main jobs do the nurses do? Nigerian nurses are the most unprofessional I have ever seen;very lazy and temperamental
You pay for Nursing Care in hospitals but the nurses will still tell you to cater for your patients.Nurses run shift duties but doctors work like donkeys. To be honest, Nigerian doctors are being overused. They go for weekend calls and still resume work immediately on Monday; no bathing, no brushing.Never can Nigerian doctors be compared to the Nurses, an eagle really looks like a chicken but they are never the same. The day Nigerian hospitals are privatised, that would be the day Nigerian nurses will know their levels.Nurses want to be paid like them but don't want to work the way they work. When Nurses go on strike, the hospitals still function because they can actually do your works. But when they go on strike, can you dare treating the patients? Please these people might be seen as getting money, they suffer more than they earn and never compare them to yourselves again.
Mind you, I am not a doctor but actually have a number of them around me.
Peace be upon us all.
replying, you now,cuz I got banned...when doctors, are on strike, the hospital, still functions, just that,no major operations takes place... and when you say unprofessional nurses,we have, auxiliary nurses, and and quacks, everywhere... so I don't know, which of them,u met..in federal hospitals, we follow the basic nursing practice... just that sometimes, relatives of the patient, try to look down on nurses, yell at nurses, like their maids, sometimes they behave they know better than you doing the jobs, which could be annoying...doctors are over hyped, and most people won't understand...

Love your comment but was actually speaking from experience. The lady said they do "bulk" of the work which I tried to clarify. One important thing is that whatever we do shouldn't be done because of money alone but rather satisfaction inclusive.Even if you wash faeces, urine etc., it should be done with joy and happiness. If that is done by all professionals, Nigeria will be a good place to be.Thanks for being a reasonable one.
God bless you.

smh....a doc is complaining.. then what would you say of the nurses??doctors are flexing full time, they don't take doctors for granted, nurses would embark on warning strike, even enter main strike, from now till eternity, yet nothing come out..but doctors just warning strike, is enuf..most hospitals have doctors stations, but nurses, theirs is pathetic.. in fact resident doctors, are bring paid, soo well, compared to the nurses, sometimes medical students, are being paid, even when they Neva smell their final MB exams...a fresh doctor, earns higher than a nurse, that's in the system for several donkey years, whereas these nurses,do the main jobs..have seen a doc, that can't fix simple cannula..so guy,ur case holds no water,in the case of doctors and nurses, monkey dey work, baboons dey chop.
