Driving is about your confidence level and concentration. My first experience was funny. The main road became so narrow to me. I was stopping for on coming vehicles to pass because of fear of colliding with them. I got over it after the first day though.

Loooolz....I'm actually on that stage now...in fact today, a truck was trying to join the road, you need to see the way I depressed the Accelerator pedal with the hope of driving so fast from it, I forgot I wasn't on my heels....my teacher was shocked with freight. cry

There are many things attributed to driving.
your eyes becomes six when ever you're driving, if you put on glasses it becomes 8 eyes.your two eyes balls, your two side mirror, and your rear mirror to view what at you back makes it five eyes, the last eye is invisible that's you mind and the last two sun shade or glasses make it eight eyes.

Just learnt how to drive. My biggest challenge was releasing my leg from the clutch to get the car moving, especially matching accerelator and the clutch together. It was a real headache. Other than that, it's thoroughly enjoyable.

In 2015
I was a learner when i got a driving job.
My first task was to shuttle members of staff for a board meeting.... I drove around ikorodu that day without exceeding gear 2. It was terrible for me when i started to attain higher gears in the sense that when ever i slowed down , I always brought the gear back to one.
Not until one day when i was on gear 3 and slowed down a bit , then started to accelerate abnormally... I was trying to bring the gear back to 1 (my normal practice) .... It was refusing to enter 1, then i forced it and the vehicle almost tumbled..... and all the staff shouted Jesus!!! Then my instincts taught me that down shifting was step by step..
In other words.... I learnt on the job.
Ive gone ahead to drive trucks and tata busses and currently with the BRT.
I have never been to a driving school....
Just learnt as a curious young boy by targeting to sit in the front of commercial busses and watch the drivers.

My first day was horrible. I was doing just fine on the road and my instructor was chilling with a chilled Pepsi at the passager seat. Immediately, he told me to look at my left rear mirror and jeeezzz.. A huge trailer was coming with full speed. The vibrations and horn made all the demons in me to flee. You need to see how I shouted, praying my last prayer. I'm now James Bond sha.. cool
Fear is the only limiting factor.

my first experience was not funny at all. after learning for 2days with Mercedes Benz and Volvo. I told my tutor that I want to challenge my extensive knowledge so far on the road and we hit the road immediately

as soon as I had 5mins drive on the road, I saw big trailer at my back I ve to leave the road and park cheesy. the man was already laughing out lawd at my obvious phobia

after that day I summon my courage and I developed my boldness

driving is just dedication, boldness&courage...once u ve all these then you're ready to drive perfectly but without this, your hand can never hold the steering straight and strong

I remember what I learnt mostly then

*seeing a pot holes after your calculation, press your clutch then break....you will enter and comes out without any stress

*when a car loose control or want to take the steering from a driver, you can use the clutch to control it. I've once experience this before with highlander jeep, when am abt to dodge a pot hole in a sharp corner

for auto....left leg is useless, only right leg is crucial. just press the clutch button in the gear then u will be able to shift it from park to drive, your turtle would be changing the drive thru acceleration

its called gear in manual but drive in auto

Good day house,
...so I have just started learning how to drive....today should make my 4th driving lesson and I must say, its been fun and hummmmmmhummmmmm lipsrsealed

I used to think driving was so easy, with the way the drivers and danfo drivers especially drive on the road without even concentrating. I finally got to sit behind the steering and realized driving needs full concentration.
I decided to go for manual class, because I heard it is the best and one would be able to drive Auto with manual experience.

Challenges:
1. The steering; Oh mehnnn....its so easy to loose control of the steering and also so easy to concentrate. Biko, how come our danfo drivers don't concentrate and even look back to collect money as conductor from passengers? shocked

2. Gear: Manual car ehnnnn....na wire! To change gear, you have to depress your clutch pedal, change the gear to 1, Neutral, 2....etc oh boy!

3. Brake; The fact that you have to depress the clutch before depressing the brake is stressful....then sometimes I forget the clutch isn't brake, I almost forget the brake pedal exists until I have passed where I'm supposed to stop. Kai

4. Being on the road: Seeing yourself in the middle of the road, controlling the steering, making sure you don't collide with other cars....toh

So please drivers in the house, share your experience and encourage we the up coming drivers. And please how long did it take you to drive smoothly and with full confidence? What are the things one need to know apart from what we learners are being taught in the driving school?

Thank you.
you're here complaining of clutch and brakes.... You never jam the ones... You never dey drive they look your two side mirrors and the rear mirror lol.... No say u no be danfo driver wey get conductor to shout, come your side lol

Weitin hard for manual car na steering (better know the number) clutch down and gear and side mirror.

But still manual is the best
grin

It was almost a nasty experience. I almost broke a woman's leg when I wanted to pull over like the danfo driver's style. It was a slight sharp escape for the woman. I got down to go beg her but instead she just answered OK,! and turned back home. I am sure she cancelled where she was going that day.

Learnt how to drive kast year
Took me about 3 months to become good enough and another month to gain full confidence
Now i carefully weave in and out of traffic like a big boyy
Note the word carefully
Just free ur mind

First day we entered road n i was having problems with clutch control and the car was going off like mad
After the first week i had good clutch control (good enuff for a learner)
By the end of the third week the drivin instructors were using me as their driver(they were always trying to pick me cos i gave them the least stress, my guy will just enter and sit down and just tell me where we r going and i will just take him there no stress)

There was this girl that almost killed us once(we train in pairs sometimes, our instructor and two students)
D girl nor even sabi control steering after 5 days na frustration wan kill instructor that day,
We got to a point that tge road was curvimg gently, instead of her to turn the steering so the car will follow the curve she just kept it straight and tge car went into the oncoming lane and a tipper was coming, she now go confused and left the steering out of fear and she then mistakenly marched down on the accelerator
See me screaming jesus in the car, the instructor just sharply controlled the steering and brought us out of harm's way
