my younger brother taught me to drive. The day i drove alone I parked in front of a supermarket, I applied break but forgot to put it on parking mode. when I removed my leg, the car moved and hit a 'tear rubber' car fortunately the owner is a Catholic priest. .. the worst is that the daughter of the supermarket owner I wanted to see me park my car came out laughing.

lol In the year 2013, took the car out on the road with my friends in it to 'flex' guys. Trust guys to rush in when movement is involved grin That's cos i didn't have the balls to drive on the streets of Lagos alone then. Long story short, they didn't know that was my first time on the road till i told them, some got out to trek grin Apparently, I was that good
Reminds me of when we got into my guys car to flex, d guy went and jam one divider and i was in front, looked back and all 3 guys at the back werr gone, be like say na winch when i see these guys de trek from far de come towards us

So basically that day in ikorodu, u were playing ludo with ppls lives
Is ok

I wasn't that bad with the navigation because i was already an expert with automatic....
In fact that was what gave me the job.
My problem then with manual was the change of gears..
To an extent i had just got acquainted with the clutch.

Driving isn't as easy as it seems. I hated the experience I had. It's very easy to lose control when turning at roundabouts. I hated and still hate roundabouts and left turns. It's hard to maintain the same speed. Every time I think of driving, I remember the number of times I scratched the car when turning and I get discouraged. I also remember my instructor yelling at me when I made mistakes, which didn't help my confidence at all. Can't blame the guy though, he cannot let one student come and kill him on top small salary he's receiving.

Im just happy my instructors were very friendly and patient
All students that graduated from the school turned out good
Some ppl just dont know that it takes patience to tach driving

starrted at 13 in js3. I've shown signs of curiosity before then tho. But on the very day, i escorted my uncle in our old isuzu trooper to grind pepper
(am with the pepper dem gang tho) so i asked my uncle if i could take the wheel and to my greatest surprise as if he was enchanted by me he pulled over and allowed me. I showed great signs of composure which gave him the courage to teach me more. I became the house messenger at 14 .sending me here and there with car. i then realised why he allowed me then. (so that i could take up his tiring job of sending up and down). I somehow regret learning tho because the sending became too much

I learnt how to drive from a short tempered man. He is a professional tutor though. I have a bad leg so I insisted on using an automatic car to learn. The very first day he was to teach me, he asked me to come by 3pm i was available but he wasn't around. I waited till around 5pm by then I had called him like a hundred times, so he came in annoyance and asked me to get on the wheels. Hian!

He directed me towards the city centre, the busiest part of the town. I was scared shit! My leg was on the brake! People will see the warning and sign of driving school and yet be walking in front of the car without bothering if I would hit them. I was tensed. After driving around in town for like 1hour he let me go. Next day, we went to express and asked me to do 60km. It was scary!

Now, I am an expert!

I was 11 years old. I was and am still very stubborn. I just picked up the keys to my mum's new car and with my best friend at the time, hopped into the car and started driving. Needless to say that i had an accident, got the worst ass whooping you can imagine, and got grounded for like 6 months. That didn't deter me though. By the time i was 13 years old i was already and expert behind the wheels.

Kai bro. They killed your vibe to learn driving.

Same here with my dad. The guy dey always yell and yell and yell and won't explain stuff to me well sef. I was discouraged at a time but then I took a look around my driving experience. It was all disadvantages.

Me, a learner was driving a manual transmission car

Me a learner was driving spacebus( learners suppose start with small car

Me, a learner was driving with my papa shouting on top of my head(which was and still remains my worst driving experience)

Me, a learner was driving on very bad roads... I live in Ogun and the road where I dey na die

Me a learner was driving a spacebus that doesn't work well with the clutch. Any small thing e go die and my papa go shout again

But I just realised if I can be managing all the disadvantages and still be driving averagely well, then it means if I get my own car which will be smaller, auto transmission and working well (without any papa shouting at me) and I start driving on better terrains then I'll do really well because of my initial bad experience.

So I took the shi.t and decided to get whatever comes my way cool

Awwwwwwh this is touching and hilarious.
You right about the yelling killing one's confidence. My first day of learning, my instructor yelled at me all through oooo! In fact, when he asked me to depress the brake pedal, I got confused, loosed control and hit the car in front of me....come see insults and shouting! I wanted to run. Later the next day, I spoke to him and the Principal, told them yelling at me will freak me out and they adjusted...they felt guilty too.

I drove a truck way back then in my uncle's farm... I con jam one plam tree...since then i nor gree drive again...
Give it a trial... You'll be perfect this time.

As for me, my first driving was in faraway state of kwara as a copper. My tutor; a considerate Yoruba Muslim.

On the fourth day when I and my tutor thought my confidence level was high..... Hmmmm I com jam one of those Offa goats. The owner of the goat came out with machete n rain abuses on me!!! My tutor did his best that fateful day but my happiness was I Don't Understand Yoruba...

Abeg Op no enter road wey goat full...

I learnt this year Jan/Feb and I've been driving for a month or so, though I never go far distance as my hubs doesn't trust me yet.

Whilst learning, I began to wonder how people make calls and drive at the same time!! I troway cap for them. You need all your senses and then some. I still have little challenges sha especially with moving again from gear 1 after I might have stopped at a T junction or traffic light, motor go just dey off and that's quite embarrassing. you're already under tension, then people behind you will start to horn and curse like mad!!

it's fun though, I totally love it. but I wasn't taught any thing mechanical. I just enter car and drive. I don't know what to look out for before starting the car or things to check. as I dey here so, I no sabi wetin radiator, gasket, fan belt etc be. I'm trying to learn online though.
