Russia's Supreme Court ruled on Thursday that Jehovah's Witnesses was an "extremist" organisation and must hand over all its property to the state, Russian news agencies reported.

Interfax news agency quoted Sergei Cherepanov, a Jehovah's Witnesses representative, as saying that the group will appeal the decision in the European Court of Human Rights.


"We will do everything possible," he said.

Russian authorities have put several of the group's publications on a list of banned extremist literature and prosecutors have long cast it as an organisation that destroys families, fosters hatred and threatens lives.

They teach that true Xtians are no part of d world John 17:16, Jehovah is the only true God Rev 4:11, Deut 6:4 ,That true Xtians preach d good news about Gods kingdom Matt 24:14 which no other churches do , they are d only ones who truely love oneanother as Jesus said John 13:35, They are the only ones who trully respect d Bible as Gods word and practice its teachings to d letter John17:17 I can goon and on

Being close to them doesn't mean you know what they teach in detail. At least I learnt the Ransom from them, Resurrection of Christ, some prophecies that fulfilled in Christ and so many others

I know all these, i know jw teachings, i grew up with their books...it was with their books i practiced how to read so i know them well.

But they believe in God, they profess Christ as they understand him, they are pacifist and do not fight any war except with words. It is harsh to call them extremist. This ban is against their fundamental human right i.e freedom of religion.

it seems u also know this religion very well. All Russia needed to do is just to help them to live separately by relocating them to Mars or Jupiter since they have that technology. I fully support the Russian government's decision on this. Any organization, in the name of religious belief, whose doctrine and practice go against the law of the land and whose practice could jeopardize public safety, through unwanted pacifism instead of patriotism, should be banned.

Any organization that discourages it members from serving in the armed or paramilitary forces but will expect others to risk their lives for their safety should be banned. Any organization that discouraged his people from active public service should be banned. Any organization that destroys family units in the name of religion should be banned.

Jehovah's witnesses fall into these categories and should be banned.

This is not a good move...it tramples on a group's right to have Religious Liberty. Regardless of what they or any group believes, under the law (well at least in the U.S.), they have a right to believe it. Things will change soon though.

Thank God u agree. It is a dangerous precedent and I am suprised some are happy about it.
