Hello Senior Colleagues!!

Plz I need help here.
I am a graduate of Elect/Elect Engr. at HND level (2013), a civil servant at LGA level for over 7 years. The truth is that I have never known job satisfaction neither does anything point towards it's possibility in at least 20years to come in the service.

As an undergraduate, my passion for engineering led me to undergoing a training in Telecom mast site maintenance as a Site Engineer with a friend for over 7 months cumulatively, but couldn't hook up job due to my studies.
Again, at final year I joined my lecturer into Electrical, Intercom (PABX), CCTV, K and C-band signal tracking and fire alarm installation and maintenance. As a result of this job, I have been queried and salaries withheld severally for absenteeism at office, but I'm not perturbed.

I AM WORRIED.....
I have an unquenchable thirst for Engineering (telecom/power especially), i have tried exploring other options to digging deeper in practice, yet futile.
It's my utmost wish to join NSE-COREN but it will amount to nothing without the relevant industry experience. I have rejected bank job twice because of my passion for engineering.

I really need HELP.
Let this passion not die, help a dude actualize dream and purpose.

And no one seems to have a word for me on this issue.
I'm still optimistic here

To be a COREN registered engineer,you must have 4 years post-graduate experience and must have gotten your NSE Corporate membership.

I would advice that you should start thinking as Engineer-Entrepreneur.You know that after the hard hat,comes the bowler hat.Engineers are now taking up CEOs position.So start thinking as the CEO of your own firm at this early stage of life.

You SHOULD attend NSE General meetings for now.Life is all about networking.

Find the branch closest to you.

Bro,you NEED go do PGD in Electrical/Electronics Engineering PLUS your 4-Years Post-Graduate Experience before you can apply for NSE Corporate Membership.B.Sc in Computer Science makes you to be a Scientist not an Engineer.

My superiors and my equals in Engineering profession I want to ask, how can someone that owns a private firm be qualified for registration with COREN? Because from my engineering education I was mearnt to know that to be qualified you must work under a ceritified engineer. And by standard one (Engineering Intern) is not supposed to sell service to the public prior to being chartered. Not all would be into engineering employment. I own a private firm that is into downstream petroleum oil facilities - design, specification, installation, maintenance, integrity testing, and repairs of pumps, valves, compressors, flowmeters, tanks, and nozzles. (Anyone that has registered with COREN with private practice should please share his experience.) I hold a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, a professional diploma in Engineering Technology and had two years internship in the oil sector prior to going into private practice.

For a company to be licensed to do Engineering work and add Engineering to its name,the company must have a COREN Registered Engineer among the Board of Directors and the company must be registered with COREN too.

Though,I am still working for someone,I have the dream of having my own Engineering company soon.At least,make my COREN Certification noh waste,just kidding sha.

You can sit for the exam after having 4 years post-graduate experience.
And having NSE Corporate Membership doesn't make you a Registered Engineer.
You will still have to present your NSE Project Work and Post Graduate Experience to COREN for your registration as a Registered Engineer with FRN.
It is after the registration with COREN that you are ELIGIBLE to bear the prefix,Engr.
Though it is annoying that most folks abuse the suffix.But those who have it know the process they pass through to obtain it.

For the cost implication of the NSE Exam,you should be looking at 150-200k cumulatively.

Just as LAW SCHOOL is to the Lawyers to bear the prefix of Barr. that is how COREN to engineers.

I have been active with NSE as a Graduate Member since 2008, became Corporate Member in 2012.I am an active member in my branch,occupied several EXCO positions.

what are you arguing. Thought we all were taught this things in school. What's the meaning of COREN? Oga NSE is like a club, they don't confer the title Engr on anyone.

Engr, I'm a civil guy and going for 2017 diet. Done with my Vol. 1 & 2 using past reports from 2 COREN guys, just left with 2 AutoCAD detailing. Gave it to one of them last week for vetting before printing. Hope your pushing it hard too?
