numericalguy: Run through both the university website and NUC website to clear your doubt, the problem with most of Nigerians is that they can't research about a topic ,they are too lazy to find to go on fact finding mission, even with.the help of internet some of you still can't make use of it to make an informed decision. 6 Likes |

numericalguy: Your thinking is backwards. Distance learning, remote studies, online programs....these are the future. With technology going to school will soon be a thing of the past. With 5G, VR/AR, and great content, classrooms will go virtual. That one obtained knowledge in a virtual classroom and took the same exams physical attendees did does not lessen the validity of certificates so obtained. I did a distance learning program with Harvard and Delft and they were tough as hell. Wake up a little. 8 Likes 1 Share |

buddyosan: i am going to be blunt. The Nigerian Law School does not recognize any NOUN certificare. If NOUN is accreditated then you should go to Law school Going to NOUN or not is a personal decision. But an introspection will help. You study a full blown course like Medicine without recognized labs: law without viable classrooms and all that. While schools like IMSU worked to regain accreditation by increasing their structure and work force. I will want anny NOUN student to prove me wrong that Nig. Law school or Nigerian Medical Association recognizes NOUN certificates |

Marthynx10: My friend... it all depends on what you want for your career and destiny. I'm also working in a reputable organization and I can't jeopardize my future and destiny because I'd that. I am never convinced to undertake a part time or distance learning program because the end may not actually justify the means. Go for something tangible for future sake |

@ Op, my little contribution to u. pls follow ur heart. noun is well respected by bodies/organisations that knows its worth. one reason, noun is respected is because, you dnt know who marks ur script. hence, if you are not prepared for an exam, your failure is certain; unlike conventional uni, that certain students sort their way, out. 5 Likes 1 Share |

in fact NOUN is one of the best development to have happened to our education sector. Worldwide Open University is one of the most recognize university and NOUN is not an exception. Its may have some challenges especially with the new management put in place by the Fed. Government. I made first class easily in OAU but I struggled to finish with 2.1 (Second Upper division) in NOUN. The university is not for lazy student. I am a proud graduate of NOUN and the certificate is recognized even outside Nigeria. 7 Likes |

my advice for you is that if you don't have money don't come to NOUN, because money can frustrate you at a point because I have a colleagues that he is thinking to drop out just because of money.God bless ur wy and decision but my school is really interesting in terms of reading courses materials or field trip u will enjoy it 3 Likes 1 Share |

So I have been reading all comments and humming... My take on this is that: Firstly, am a 300l student in nou.,I registered for the fun of it to keep me busy as I already have a first degree from a conventional university. Noun's certificate is nationally and internationally recognised, don't get mad at that if you are not satisfied with that. Noun is not for lazy students, I m speaking from experience trying to compare schooling in a conventional university and nou. You have enough freedom to yourself that makes you lazy and that is where the danger is... you get so free that no one is forcing you to come for lectures/tutorials, you are not signing attendance to get marks to boost your scores cos u ll have to work for your scores on your exam day in front of the computer/ pop paper. You get so free that you can read when you like...and this is dangerous cos there are some people that need to be pushed to study, they are some that study on their own free will. In conventional schools, group work and assignments are meant to push student to work hard. In nou, you are on your own.... so tell me when you are spoilt with that freedom and you get use to it, how can you gather motivation to want to read? Some people don't read until the day of exam and you see them studying tma and when they go in to write their exam and come out, you see them frowning that tma/past questions didn't come out and etc.... Then exams are not marked by just anyone...they are marked by random persons who we dnt know...so if you planning on sorting out a course you are on your own. In summary what am trying to say is that.. nou is not for lazy student, if you are the type that need pushing or a lecturer to give you special attention..then you are on your own. If you are the type that like sorting out your courses to pass or sleeping with lecturers then this school is not for you because even the s.c's director knows nothing about script marking. That is why I won't advice a jambite who is still fresh and need special attention and guidance to start with open university. Nou is suppose to be meant for people with work experience and what to further their education. So when you judge about if the certificate is relevant, state your answer with proof and good reference. Nou has its pro and cons. It is great for people with work experience or people who have been to tertiary institution before but then it is not best for jambites who need educational guidance. Pls stop criticizing the school, even ivy league schools have distance learning programs and they are high recognized. This is not the first open university in the world, there are lot of them... this is the first of its kind in Nigeria..y'all should give government credit for this development and try to encourage them. I know numbers of persons who are extremely busy but nou have helped them in getting a degree that aided their promotion. 21 Likes 3 Shares |
