Rivers Education sector that was once the envy of other states and once brought pride not only to Nigerian but to the sub-Saharan region as a whole when the state capital become the first city in sub-Saharan Africa to become the world's book capital in 2014. this feat was as a result of extra ordinary achievement of the former governor Rotimi Amaechi. he built over 500 hundred beautiful schools adorned with state of the art ICT center, top notch sports facilities__foot ball pitch, basket ball court, volley ball court, etc., sick bay facility with doctor, play ground, farm yard etc. trained and employed over 13,000 teacher to man the schools. these were the look of the schools

barely less than two years after Amaechi left office the education sector is now in shambles. with every thing bad happening to the education sector. most of the schools are now been overgrown by weeds. the school buildings paintings are fading off without maintenance. most of the school facilities like the play ground facilities, ICT facilities, etc have either been stolen or left to rot. below are the present look of most of those beautiful schools

Unlike the center where people say that the house of assembly is the hope of the common man but the case is however different in Rivers state.

Amaechi handed the schools to a consulting management company. My guess is that those consultant have been chased off and the educational system has been handed over to quacks
