The practice, sometimes called ‘stealthing’ is actually overlooked by some communities of men, especially here in Nigeria. I will say such as is selfish, reckless, illegal act, could result in pregnancy or s exually transmitted diseases.

A new study has looked into the direct consequences that come from the ‘r ape adjacent’ crime of removing a condom during s ex.

The study argues that stealthing is an act of gender-based violence, and violates both civil and criminal laws.
Consenting to protected s ex is a different thing from consenting to unprotected s ex. Aside from all the potential risks associated with unprotected s ex, letting another person inside your body without any kind of barrier is, for some people, a huge deal.

For the avoidance of doubt, r ape is s ex without consent. If a person agrees to have protected s ex, and then the protection is removed, the consent does not stand, so by default it is r ape.

The good news is that the removal of a condom constituting r ape is starting to be recognised as a fully-fledged crime. One of such case is the Wiki leaks founder Julian Assange, who is currently still wanted in his native Sweden after multiple women claimed he had removed or tampered with the condom during s ex.

Whether it’s s ex between a man and a woman, or two men, or two women, if you remove contraceptive barriers without the other person’s consent, you are violating their consent. No question.
