If some part of Nigeria are told to fight for development and not politics. We hear stories like Nigeria don't need to be restructure or you are non indigen or we are trying or we fighting corruption etc. This are signs of division and why we may not build a nation. I always say if real change enter Nigeria we will know. Nigeria biggest challenge has been insincerity. |

This report is true. I still don't know why Nigeria is called "Giant of Africa" What is giant in a dead Lion? Rwanda is one of the cleanest country in the world..I would have said the cleanest based on the reports of my friends from European countries. I have been to the Eastern, Northern and Southern provinces in Rwanda and i can tell you that Nigeria is a failure. Rwandans see themselves as one, after the 1994 genocide. The Civil Service is run like a private Establishment, they resume by 7:00 am and close by 5:00 pm while the senior staff some times stay till 7:00 - 11:00 pm working o...not gossiping like my brothers and sisters in Nigeria. Their supermarkets and some offices open 24hrs. They don't shutdown their economy by 4:00 - 6:00 pm like Nigeria. Security in Rwanda is 99% compare to Nigeria. Foreigners are 100% safe in Rwanda. I stay out till around 2:00 - 3:00 am and no Police will harass you. Nice night outside in Pilipili and CocoBean clubs...Try and visit Rwanda and see.

alrahmanonline:That rationale doesn't work. Resource rich countries like Congo or Nigeria tend to be lazy. Nigeria was about the fastest growing economy in the world before we discovered oil and saw our industries and agriculture collapse. Oil would be as much a curse to a country like Rwanda as it is a curse for Nigeria. |

As a result of their small size and all, countries like Rwanda are relative easier to manage and can be developed quite easily just like Singapore. However, their land mass and population puts them at a continuing loss in terms of economies of scale. So quick development but just like those small European countries there really ain't prospect for much. |

theSpark:The highlighted text just did it for me. This is my number one consideration whenever I'm assessing any location for its liveability. I'm in love right now and would surely try to visit Kigali in the near future. By the way, which Nigerian town or city, do you reckon, comes closest to having a semblance of a "general mood of tranquility, restraint, and soberness"? It used to be between Calabar and Abuja, but both cities have been corrupted and are now ridden with crime and insecurity. My best bet now is Abakaliki, but then, who knows anywhere better? |
| Re: Has Rwanda Overtaken Nigeria? by Agbaletu: 11:16am On Apr 29, 2017 |
hedonistic:To be honest with you, no city or village in Nigeria has any semblance of what you stated above. Rwandans are African outside but not inside. |

hedonistic:As Agbaletu said and I concur, you'll not find any city in Nigeria with a general mood of tranquility, restraint, and soberness. It's just not a Nigerian thing. The closest I have seen in Nigeria is Jos which is a bit calmer than other Nigerian cities I've been to. Yet it is as unsafe and insecure as other Nigerian cities. |

ZombieTAMER:Our problem is not necessarily due to population; it is more or less due to bad leadership. What do you expect when your president doesn't even have waec certificate? What do you expect when the youth are more concerned about promoting one politician above the other with their reasonings judged by tribal and ethical differences? Politicians and those in authority are busy scheming to hold unto power and they would want to install their kids after them. The populace is too scared to do anything. All he can ever do is to "comment" and "react" to frivolities that will take him no where. |

Very beautiful country, an educated populace too, had a lady friend that once invited me there, but am planning to go next year, Chukwu Abiama willing. What thrills me is the fact a large percentage of their populace are bilingual, and can also speak their their local languages. Amazing. |

raker300:We don't have an open economy which they have ....investing in Nigeria u need a Nigerian as partner and that's cos we won't employment ...for lesser populated countries it need not be so ..so u see people investing in them |

ZombieTAMER:You know it can't & won't happen. Who's going to collect the money? How will they monitor everybody to see who has more children or wives? How about concubines & unwed mothers? What if the Northern / Muslim elders just allege that it's a plot to prevent the fulfillment of their religious obligation to marry up to four wives? Or if a Northern president enforced the policy in the southern regions to decimate their population but was laissez-faire in his own place allowing his people's population to keep growing in order to claim greater share of federal government allocation? |

chijiblaze:Do you know that Rwanda constitution allows only one man one wife? Polygamy is alien to their constitution, both Christians and Muslims keep to it. Although, a few of them still have more than one wife but only the first legally married wife is recognised by the law. |
| Re: Has Rwanda Overtaken Nigeria? by Cooly100: 2:27pm On Apr 29, 2017 |
This is why we need smaller entities in Nigeria, to grow and progress at our own pace. Eastern Biafra is developing but it needs high rise buildings...but where is the energy to power the lifts...?

| Re: Has Rwanda Overtaken Nigeria? by Abagworo(m): 2:38pm On Apr 29, 2017 |
Rwanda is not in any way comparable to Nigeria. How many cities are in the poor backward country? Nigeria has well over 200 cities with population exceeding 100,000. One can compare Rwanda with individual States and not even Lagos. |
| Re: Has Rwanda Overtaken Nigeria? by Cooly100: 2:47pm On Apr 29, 2017 |
Abagworo:I prefer to live in Kigali than I would, the riotous Lagos. |

| Re: Has Rwanda Overtaken Nigeria? by Rossikk(m): 4:11pm On Apr 29, 2017 |
raker300:You're talking ignorant rubbish. Nigeria's annual GDP is $540 billion, of which oil and gas accounts for just 15%. Go and study and learn before posting rubbish online. Plus, there isn't much that is impressive about those Kigali pictures compared to what we have here in Nigeria. |
| Re: Has Rwanda Overtaken Nigeria? by raker300(op): 4:15pm On Apr 29, 2017 |
Abagworo:nonsense!! That's the mentality that keeps dwarfing the Nigerian economy. When it comes to individual wealth, yes Nigeria takes the lead but collective wealth is a no no! Lagos is an example of a failed state. Dubai's has almost similar income with Lagos but compare the 2 cities. Lagos is lagging behind in development and you know it. That place is an example of too much money with nothing to show |
| Re: Has Rwanda Overtaken Nigeria? by Rossikk(m): 4:16pm On Apr 29, 2017 |
raker300:It is a matter of TIME. Lagos is developing rapidly unless you've been living under a rock. |
| Re: Has Rwanda Overtaken Nigeria? by Agbaletu: 4:20pm On Apr 29, 2017 |
Rossikk:You have just reminded us again the same reason why we remain where we are. Do you think our reports are based on structures. Every fibre of Nigeria is faulty. The report here is beyond high rises, at least Lagos, Abuja, PHC and many cities in Nigeria have more high rises than Kigali. You people should understand that everything is wrong in Nigeria. |
| Re: Has Rwanda Overtaken Nigeria? by raker300(op): 4:21pm On Apr 29, 2017 |
Rossikk:calm down. Lagos is older than Nigeria, Lagos saw no war, Lagos has access to the sea and they're still trying to develop in 2017? Rwanda on the other has seen worst days and like eastern Nigeria is landlocked and politically behind..yet look at them. You fail to grasp the point here |
| Re: Has Rwanda Overtaken Nigeria? by Agbaletu: 4:25pm On Apr 29, 2017 |
raker300:Eastern Nigeria is a good example of a place we can use here. If Biafra had emerged, Igboland would have been in the same status with some developed countries in Europe. I am also sure that Yorubaland would have advanced and developed more than this. |
| Re: Has Rwanda Overtaken Nigeria? by Rossikk(m): 4:28pm On Apr 29, 2017 |
raker300:What is it about Rwanda? Their GDP per capita is $759 compared to Nigeria's $2500. They are lower on the UN HDI or Human Development Index, than Nigeria. They are predominantly rural. So how are they better than Nigeria? |
