Tobit was said to be a man, a Jew who was taken into exile to Assyria by King Sennacherib.
NOTE, (in the Bible, King Sennacherib couldn't succeed in taking Jews as slaves). But it is recorded in Tobit that he indeed took them as slaves.

So, Tobit was living in Nineveh, but was going to Jerusalem to worship Yahweh.

Tobit had a son by name Tobias. He (Tobit) was blind and felt he could die anytime, but a man was owing him in another city, so he sent his son Tobias to go get the money.

Meanwhile in that city, there was a young lady who was married to a spiritual husband by the name "Asmodeus", This spirit husband won't let her marry or have sex with a human man, as he usually kills her husbands immediately after marriage.

She had lost 7 husbands before meeting Tobias.

Now Tobias was to Travel to Ecbatan to collect back the money his father loaned out along time back, but he didn't know the way. He meets a man who happens to be ANGEL RAPHAEL, but Raphael didn't disclose his identity to Tobias.

Raphael pretends to be a relation to the man who owed the money in Ecbatana, so Raphael agreed to accompany Tobias to Ecbatana and show him the way and.



Tobit 6:1-8

So Tobias and the angel started out toward Media, taking Tobias' dog along with them. They walked on until sunset, then camped by the Tigris River. 2 Tobias had gone down to wash his feet in the river, when suddenly a huge fish jumped up out of the water and tried to swallow one of his feet. Tobias let out a yell, 3 and the angel called to him,

Grab that fish! Don't let it get away.

Then Tobias grabbed the fish and dragged it up on the bank.

    Azarias, my friend, what diseases can be cured by this gall bladder, heart, and liver?

    The heart and liver can be burned and used to chase away a demon or an evil spirit that is tormenting someone. The attacks will stop immediately, and the person will never be troubled again. 8 You can use the gall bladder to treat someone whose eyes are covered with a white film. Just rub it on his eyes and blow on the film, and he will be able to see again.

As a matter of Fact, recorded in 2Chronicles 32 that King Sennacherib came threatening King Hezekiah of Israel, Isaiah was the Prophet then, Yahweh told him to tell Hezekiah not to worry that Sennacherib will never enter Israel much less shoot a bow into Jerusalem.


God made Sennacherib to hear a rumour that other nations where joined together to attack him, he ran away as the Angel of the Lord went into their Camp and killed his soldiers, he ran to his village, while praying in the temple of his god, his two sons went in there and killed him. They ran away and his third son became king of assyria.

1Chron 32: 23. In this way the Lord rescued King Hezekiah and the people of Jerusalem from the power of Sennacherib, the emperor of Assyria, and also from their other enemies. He let the people live in peace with all the neighboring countries. 23 Many people came to Jerusalem.


Apart from the laughable manner the Angel went about dealing with a fellow Angel, howbeit fallen, the account doesn't agree with the Bible account.

If you ask me, this was why, it was removed.

while you made some very salient points... apart from the part of the angel Raphael telling Tobias to use the gall whatever to cast out the demon(which is totally acceptable to me) i don't see any other major thing wrong with it... for example.. the part of the Angel lying... i believe we have cases of such in the bible where God would send angels to people to deliver messages and the angels would disguise as travelers and tell the person they are travelers seeking shelter then later reveal themselves as angels and deliver the message... doesn't that count as a lie too?

then concerning the part of the false conquering of Judea or so.. i think we have a similar case like that in the Bible concerning babylon and israel or so... i stand to be corrected

Until we understand that the Bible as a book comprises several writings "compiled" by men where some writings were discarded due to their not fitting with the "message" of Christianity, we will continue to argue endlessly about spiritual issues.

Open your mind, seek knowledge about Christianity and be the better for it. Knowing who your dad is after 30 years of living with a step-dad who gave you all doesn't mean you have stopped loving your step-dad.

Let he that hath wisdom hear what the spirit is saving o the churches.
