By the definition of speed in Physics:

Corolla --> 80 kmph -----> After 1 hour, distance covered is 80km
Veyron ---> 80 kmph -----> After 1 hour distance covered is 80km

So if they started doing 80kmph from the same point . . how possible is it that one would "gap" the other (excuse my language);
seeing that they both covered the same distance/measurement of length; huh

By the definition of acceleration in Physics;

Corolla ----> 10 m per second squared ----> Every second (squared), the Corolla will cover 10 meters
Veyron ----> 40 m per second squared ----> Every second (squared), the Veyron will cover 45 meters

This means that, from REST ( zero speed, engine on - no movement); the Veyron will lurch forward faster
due to its bigger and better engine and will reach 80km/hr faster. But once it reaches 80km/hr and the driver

By default, the actual speed of a Bugatti travelling at 80km/h(speedo reading) is the same as an "Ijapa" travelling at 80km/h(speedo reading), now I said 'by default', that is they are using the manufacturer's recommended tyre size. But if the tyre size of one car is changed, the actual speed will be different from the speedo reading.

For example, let's say the recommended tyre size for a 2008 Camry is 215/55R16, by default, the actual speed will be the same as the speedometer speed (i.e factory calibrated). If you change to bigger set of tyres for example 215/65R16, then the actual speed will be more than speedometer speed, Speedometer reads 100, but the actual speed is 107 km/h.

So No 4 in NOT a myth as long as car owners can still change their tyre sizes.

Let's get something straight. Km/hr means the distance (in kilometers) that a moving body can cover in 1 hour. 80km/hr means the car will be 80km away in the next 1hr. So, if Davido's private jet is moving at a constant speed of 80km/hr and I am sitting on an Okada moving at a constant speed of 80km/hr; Davido and I would have travelled a distance of 80km after 1hour. That's it, don't get it twisted... No car can move faster then another when they are both travelling at thesame speeds. Unless there's a faulty speedometer.

Why are you confusing yourself with your gross ignorance that the OP has already explained? Kilometres is Kilometres everywhere on earth. It is simply a unit of measurement for distance. You can only have faulty speedometers in some cars that give you wrong values, but it doesn't mean one kilometre covered by car A is different from one kilometre covered by car B.

What we're failing to understand is that the km/h is not something coined by car manufacturers but a universal unit of speed measurement for any moving object. So saying Bugatti's 80 km/h is faster than Toyota's 80 km/h is like saying that Bugatti uses its own measurement system different from that of Toyota which is false. Yes Bugatti is a faster car than Toyota simply as a result of its engine hp, torque and acceleration. So all these combines to push it to higher bursts of speed, and at faster accelerations (or as you'll commonly know, 0-60 in 4 seconds or the likes) than say a Toyota. But if you maintain a Bugatti with all the power under the hood, at a steady 50 km/h, it will NEVER go faster than a Toyota Corolla 1995 maintaining same 50 km/h (except the Corolla's speedometer has become faulty) because it is not the readings on the speedometer that determines the speed, they only calculate what speed is given to it by the engine. I hope this helps in as simple terms as possible

Guy take it and stop dribbling yourself. If two cars have their speedometers showing the same 80km/h throughout a particular distance, but they arrive at different times, it only tells you that one or both car speedometers are faulty!

My brother, the Camry will keep leading the Bugatti in the example u gave.
The only condition that will defile this is if the engine of the Camry is faulty of the speed meter is wrongly calibrated.

120km/h means that in every 1hr, the Camry covers 120 kilometer
80km/h means that in every 1hr, the Bugatti covers 80 kilometer

So the Bugatti will always be 40km behind the Camry
The only difference bw the 2 cars in terms of speed is the total speed the 2 cars can handle. While the Camry may have 240km/h as its highest speed limit, the Bugatti can go 2 times above that speed limit.

If the two cars have standard and good engine, drivers of same ability and they start off the same time they will always be side by side till the Camry reached its speed limit of 240km/h then the Bugatti can take over from there by going with 250km/h or more which will leave the Camry following far behind it.

Yes, they will get there same time if the 2 drivers have the same experience, skill and ability

For the horse power and others u talk about is that the other one with a higher horsepower can endure more engine load than the other. It can maintain this kind of speed for a long time and the engine will still be sound but u dont subject the other one with that kind of stress if u want the engine to last long. The engine can carry ur AC for a very long journey than another with lower horsepower

Op I think the word jeep existed before the brand was named after it. It is not wrong to call an SUV jeep.

My dictionary defines a jeep as ' a car capable of travelling over tough terrain'.

that's part of the other factors that contribute to it, but if the camry is already at 80km/h and the corola also speed to that point, the distance between them remains constant till whenever they are asked to stop, size or type of engine becomes irrelevant, because they currently have the same momentum propelling them.
where the hp, turbo etc will have effect now is this, can your engine maintain such work rate for the same period as that of the other vehicle?

I think there're different horsepower for cars or so. For example, we traveled one time like that with two vehicles. Toyota celica and Mercedes c class (beast or so) the celica i was in was doing 120km/hr and the c class guy said he's doing 80/90, but through the journey, the c class will go far and wait for us to catch up. I think this horsepower stuff has been explained before, it can a particular model 1 minute to attain a particular speed let's say 100km while another with more horsepower to achieve the feet in less time.

Another advantage is the rate a car slows down when climbing a hill can also be determined by it's capacity or horsepower.

I'm not an auto guru but does what you're saying apply in all situations. Eg a new car and an old car? For instance a friend once said he was embarrassed to change car when his vehicle on 120/140km/h was constantly lagging behind a Honda EoD in a journey. Don't tell me the EoD is doing 160km/h. I doubt how a new car and an old car can perform on same speed. Can a toyota corrolla on 80km/h match a Bugatti/Ferrari on 80km/h?

there's a difference between acceleration and speed. The EOD would have had better acceleration to beat your friend's old car.
